Congrats on a fine season for Mason County as well. Both squads are hit hard by graduation, losing four starters each. So, could it be two new teams battling for this crown next year? Don’t count either team out too soon!!

First, the game.

Mason just couldn't slow down Jerone Morton. They got some decent looks, but some shots just didn't fall. Royals took a lead in the 3rd, but a quick 7-0 run by GRC put that to bed.

This one was tough.  It was the last pep band game for the Twin Dawgs...the oldest dawg made the trip in from Morehead to join them.  Very likely the final time all three will play at a game together. 

Thought this was funny, GRC had premade 10th Region Champs shirts made and put them on to accept the Trophy. Classic.

When you come in winning 49 straight games against region opponents, you can do that.

Not out of the ordinary.  I think a lot of teams do this and throw them away if it doesn't work out.  Usually someone not involved with the team.

Yeah I forgot GRC budget is a little larger than those other region teams.

GRC is a little more than twice bigger than Mason and significantly larger than all of the 10th region schools except for Campbell.  You've got to admit its pretty crazy that GRC (1639) played Augusta (86) in the first game.  GRC's new high school complex and athletic facilities, especially the football stadium and gym are absolutely outstanding.  I guess every school can only try to do the best with what they have and can, and Clark has certainly done a lot.  It doesn't seem totally fair but you can't fault them for doing all they can for their community and students.

I’d substitute the word “equitable” for “fair”, but that’s really just semantics. 
 

As long as postseason roundball in the Commonwealth remains unclassified, these matchups will occur.  And I’m certainly not a proponent of changing the system.
