Kentucky high school basketball coaching legend Billy Hicks has passed.

Featured Replies

I just read multiple reports on Twitter that longtime Scott County Coach Billy Hicks has passed.  Terrible news to start the week...prayers go out to his family, former players, and friends.

Coach Hicks is the All-Time KHSAA leader in wins with 1013 over 4 schools ( Evarts, Harlan, Corbin, Scott County).

Awful news, such a character, and you could NEVER write the history of KY High School Basketball without a chapter (or two) on the amazing career of Coach Billy Hicks.

The Billy Hicks Classic in Georgetown this week will take on a much different feel, in light of this horrific news.

His Cardinals and Mason County had some memorable battles a couple of decades ago.  RIP.

Great coach and incredible character, good friend of mine, RIP coach.

Hate to hear this.  How old was Coach?

Legend is the best word I can come up with that describes Billy Hicks. You went to the Sweet 16 games for his talented teams but you stayed for his sideline animation. High school basketball in KY would not have been the same without Coach Hicks.
RIP. Prayers to his family, friends, coaches, players, students and fans.
