  1. Augusta did not go into tonight's game with the intention of playing dirty. The intention was to play hard and physical to let them know they wouldn't just back down. There is a fine line between hard and dirty and a couple of the boys may have taken it a step too far. It also doesn't help that Augusta had not played that way all year because they had not faced a big, physical team like Mason County this season.
  2. Augusta played hard tonight just ran into a very talented Mason County team. They are worthy of their ranking. Scoring for Augusta is as follows. Staggs 16 7/7 from the field Mofford 12 6/7 from the field Hamilton 8 Fraysure 6 R. Kelsch 5 Poe 2 Best of luck to both teams next week.
  3. I give Pendleton County the advantage in this one since they beat Deming previously and they pulled off the upset over Harrison County Monday night. But with the kind of game Deming is capable of playing they should win. Either way, sounds like it should be a great game. How have the crowds been? Will there be seats available??
  4. Chris had a lot to live up to following in his brothers' footsteps and IMO he surpassed them both. Best of luck to him in whatever he chooses to do with his future.
  5. Augusta is overmatched in this game and would have to play a perfect game to pull off a monumental upset. So with the odds stacked against them they'll go out and give it their all and win or lose they will play on next week in Mt. Sterling!!!! And in Augusta that means a lot!!
  6. Congratulations to the Wildcats. Has to be a great feeling for the kids that stuck with it in Falmouth. It's been a tough year for them, way to hang in there. Best of luck!!
  7. Great night for the Panthers, it's beginning to become a habit and that's what we want to see. Bracken County gave an all out effort tonight as expected. We anticipated a war and that's what we got. It was a great atmosphere with the fans and bands. It's what high school basketball is all about. Also, what a night for the Kelsch family as both Robin and Patrick advance their teams to the region. I know that their dad Bill is looking down and smiling with pride. Does anyone know if anything like this has happened before? Seems unlikely. Congrats boys, we've got more work to do!!!!!
  8. Well said Pride, he's come a long way from not even being allowed to try out at another school. Augusta is very happy to have him.
  9. Personally I like the tournament at Mason County but with the beautiful facility that they have in Mt. Sterling they deserve a chance to hold it. I hope it works out well for them.
  10. Well it's almost win or go home time all over the state. Tensions are getting high and threads will probably get mean and angry. So here's a fun one. The highest one I can recall is $77. This total comes from an Augusta home game. With a capacity of 500 I'm guessing this amount will be topped pretty quickly.
  11. I can't say this as perfectly as I once heard it but "Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought smart, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt." That should be posted at all gyms!!!:lol::lol:
  12. Augusta's Dustin "Shooty" Staggs is a senior and Chris Mofford is a junior. Congratulations to the Panthers' strong inside duo as well as everyone else on the list.
  13. Congrats to Newport. And after 3 games in 4 days I'm sure Brossart is breathing a sigh of relief.
  14. Seeding was voted on today and defeated by a 3-1 margin. Bracken County was the only school to vote for it.
  15. This game was originally scheduled to be played at Deming earlier in the season in the Leota Massey Classic.
  16. I believe the 38th district draw was supposed to be held yesterday. If I'm wrong please correct me or give details if it did happen. Thanks!!
  17. Absolute devastation in A-town tonight. My heart goes out to the Panthers who did everything but win. The 39th district tournament draw is February 15th. We might be talking about round 5 in a couple weeks.
  18. Congratulations to the Mustangs!! Keep making the 10th Region proud!!!
  19. If Shooty isn't going to have as big a night that means someone is going to have to outwork him. Don't see it happening. No player that steps on the floor tonight will work harder than he does and his results will prove that. Hope those results also lead to an Augusta win.
  20. This thread takes me back to 2001 when Augusta had kids who would play a freshman game, jv game, then a couple even saw significant varsity time on many nights. The experience those boys gained helped them win the freshman district and region titles that year. I don't recall anyone questioning what those boys did. That year in the district final Augusta defeated Mason County who played without Chris Lofton, held back for a varsity game that night. So it's a matter of choice, each school is going to do it how they want. Best of luck to Deming with their choice.
  21. Calvary's players were #15 Ethan Glass and #21 Chase O'Keefe
  22. Congrats to the Mustangs, represent the 10th well in Richmond!!!!!
