  1. The atmosphere at the Fieldhouse is amazing when it's packed. I don't think you'll find a better place for a region final. Also if you ever get the chance to witness an Augusta/Bracken County game, esp. at Augusta, take that chance. Augusta's little old (1926) gym, recently renovated, when full is as loud and crazy as anyplace you could go. The balconies on either side allow fans to be right on top of the action unlike any of the new larger gyms. If anyone on here has played or coached there in front of a packed house they know what I'm talking about.
  2. I think Clark and Mason stand out but there is a handful of teams that could contend. In that group are Harrison, Montgomery, Brossart, Pendleton, Augusta, Campbell and Silver Grove. It's still pretty early for this but I love it! Bring on the season!!!!!!!
  3. 10th region guy here and I didn't know there were good officials in the 16th region!!! Just having fun here, not trying to start anything!!
  4. I won't try to put them in the top 10 in the preseason but there could be a couple sleepers in Augusta in seniors F Jeremy Hardymon and PG Josh White. They helped lead Augusta to it's first region berth last year since 1982. I must also mention St. Pat's G/F Chris Owens, a fine player in his own right. Make an attempt to see these young men play, it will be well worth it.
  5. Congratulations Levi, do the A-town proud!!! And to get the fact straight he is 6'3", 160 lbs. and one heckuva defender!!
  6. If you love Kentucky high school basketball and you are associated with any team in the state you should love nothing more than the opportunity to walk out on the Rupp Arena floor as a participant. When mid-October comes and practice starts everyone hopes they'll reach Rupp in March. The LIT, AIT, King of the Bluegrass, 5/3, etc. are all fine tournaments of top-notch talent but there's nothing like the mystique of the Sweet Sixteen where anything can happen. I think Apollo and Graves County showed us that this year. I'll take the "Greatest Show In Hoops" no matter what the cost every year.
  7. 1. Mason County - Some will say they only lose Micah Turner but IMO they lose their heart and soul, they'll still be #1 in this district but the gap closes just a little bit. And no, I have not forgotten about Darius Miller, he's a very talented player. But a new leader will have to emerge. Miller, Middleton or Scott is going to have to lead this group. 2. Augusta - Of the 3 remaining teams the Panthers have the most upside They lose 2 starters in Levi Gallagher and Joe Hargett but gain one back in Dustin Staggs (lost last year to torn ACL). And the emergence of sophs to be Chris Mofford and Ty Krebs could be key. Starting seniors to be Jeremy Hardymon, Josh White and Matt Groves have one more shot at a winning season for the Panthers. 3. St. Patrick - The Saints return Chris Owens and Nick Anderson but lose point guard Patrick Estill. Someone has to take over that position for them to have any success. If it's Owens or Anderson it could take away from their scoring and that could hurt the Saints in the long run. 4. Bracken County - The Polar Bears lose the only shooters (Joel Linville, Brian Randolph) on a team that couldn't shoot. Jesse Hall returns at the point and he'll have Eli Cooper and Tyler Hamilton inside but it's going to take more than that. Looks like another long season in Brooksville.
  8. I witnessed Tolleboro's Chris Harrison drop 73 points on Augusta. I think 6 or 7 different Panthers attempted to guard him that night. Tollesboro won the game 98-90.
