  1. I was listening on the radio to this one, sounded like a great battle. If someone there could help me out on something I'd appreciate it. In the last couple minutes it sounded like St. Patrick had some questionable possessions. I was expecting to hear that Owens or Anderson or maybe even Clarke would be shooting but that wasn't so. What happened?
  2. I must say I thought Calvary would win this game but I never thought it would be a blowout. I know Bracken is having a rough year but did they even put up a fight at all? Congrats to the Cougars for advancing to the final, they are a hard working bunch that deserves their success. Good luck to them tomorrow night.
  3. I like the Saints in this game but I don't think it will be easy. They aren't facing the same team that won it last year but it's still Brossart. It should be a very entertaining game. Too bad I'll miss it and Deming's first class hospitality room too!!
  4. Good call on Workman PK, I missed that one. He has shot the three well this year when I've seen him. Looks to be the only consistent scorer for Bracken County.
  5. I'm not going to make a top 10 but instead just list some players that I've seen that have played exceptionally well. I don't think it's right to make a top 10 since I haven't seen every team play. Augusta - Shooty Staggs, Chris Mofford St. Patrick - Chris Owens, Nick Anderson Deming - Kyle King, Luke King Calvary Christian - Joe Flanningan Nicholas County - Kyle Campbell Silver Grove - Steven Pelle Harrison County - Brett Franklin Again these are in no particular order and anyone you'd expect to be listed is not because I have not personally seen them play.
  6. Saints did not overlook the Panthers tonight. Augusta came out strong but once St. Pat got on a roll they could not be stopped. Brossart will have their hands full on Friday night.
  7. Augusta's record is held by Joe Goecke, he scored 63 in 1961 I believe. Brian Kirk made a run at that total in 2004 but fell short scoring 55 in a loss at Carroll County. I remember Chris Harrison scoring 72 of Tollesboro's 98 points vs. Augusta. I sat close enough to the Augusta bench to hear players in the timeouts saying, "I'm not guarding him!!"
  8. Saw a coach get a T at Greenup County a couple of years ago by telling the official, "This is a circus and you're the court jester." Also, a few years back same coach tells a female official that the call she just made was ludicrous. She quickly turned around and asked, "What did you call me?" He replied, "I said that was ludicrous." He was then given his T.
  9. Should be a closer game than the previous one but the outcome remains the same.
  10. I never got to know Mr. Griffin personally but I know how much he meant to this part of the world as far as local sports goes. I did get lucky enough to speak to him a couple of times, his knowledge had no limits. I've never been a big college football fan so I looked to "Punk's Picks" to let me know what was going to happen every Saturday. I look forward to him being remembered at the Sweet 16. May God be with his famiy and friends left behind.
  11. Congrats to the Lady Panthers, I wish I could have been there for this one!!
  12. Got to see the Lady Bears and Lady Saints for the first time this year. There are some girls that can play on both squads. Unfortunately the two teams look to be going in different directions. The BC girls looked to be out of sync. Get them on the same page and you've got something. I did like what I saw from Haight, Rogers and Burden. Those girls work hard and get results.
  13. Derek Fryman and Brayde Hamilton both came off the bench last night and both responded very well. Expect them back in the starting lineup tomorrow night vs. Lloyd.
  14. Montgomery County has a beautiful facility and I wish them the best of luck in hosting the tournament. I will really miss it being at the Fieldhouse though. Hearing that roar from the fans as you round the corner towards the floor is such a great experience. I think the quarterfinal matchups will have a lot to do with attendance. The word is already out about needing to get there early or getting turned away so if the games aren't very appetizing then fans may not even attempt. This discussion will have to come up again once the districts draw and potential matchups are drawn up. And just for fun how about we move the region to Augusta. Capacity there is 500. Give each school some student tickets and have a lottery for the rest. How fun would that be??:laugh::laugh:
  15. This is a down year for Bracken County but I don't think you question the scheduling of them by Campbell County. These 2 are former district foes so it's not surprising that they play. As for the game the long season continues for the boys in B-ville, the Camels are just too talented. There could be a win on the horizon soon for the Polar Bears just won't happen against Campbell County.
  16. Fleming County is extremely overmatched in this one. So I have two predictions here. Elliot wins big and then following the game a thread about running up the score starts.
  17. I've picked against the Devils on the road twice and been right both times but this time I'm going to pick them based on the site. It's not easy to win at Deming, ever. What a great preview for the big game in the Class A. I can't make it to this one but hope to be there on the 21st.
  18. Trust me on this one, there is PLENTY of Diet Mt. Dew to go around in Augusta!!!
  19. I thought maybe the Saints would hang around for a half. But that was also based on not having seen the Indians this year. Glad to hear they are getting something out of Stephens this year. Does anyone have individual stats?
  20. I don't understand why it is so hard to believe that Mason County is just that much better than Pendleton County this season. The Royals are one of the best teams in the state, they're going to beat teams this bad, especially a depleted Wildcat team.
  21. I haven't seen a concession stand that tops the one in Augusta. It's located on the stage so you don't miss a bit of the action. The prices are very reasonable, comparable or cheaper than most others around. And the selection is HUGE. Nachos, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, a variety of chips, pickles, popcorn, chewing gum, bubble gum, many different candy bars, many different types of candy, pepsi products and gatorade. I may have even left something out. It's worth a look and the gym just adds to the experience.
  22. Just like the BC tournament Augusta, Deming, Brossart and St. Patrick find themselves in the same bracket. I think we can ALL agree the winner comes from this bracket. Should be a lot of fun. What a way to start it all with Deming vs. St. Patrick in the play-in game!! If the winner of that game wins the whole thing they will have certainly earned it!!
  23. St. Patrick is having a fine season but I don't think they have the horses to keep up with Montgomery County. Could still be a game at the half but the Indians pull away.
