Any word on the pairings to take place at LLOYD in the 34th

I don't agree! From what I have seen in some of the middle schools ...I think it only makes sense to sometimes get the very talented middle school player the opportunity to play up. Both to give her some experience that you can only get in games and to allow the team more time to "gel". I have seen several eighth graders who had played AAU ball for 4 years be able to more than succeed at the JV/Varsity level. How sweet for a coach to have 5 or 6 years to work with these talented ladies...that looks to me like a coach looking to succeed!

When will the pairings for the 34th district take place?

I agree....NDA's coach is always VERY classy. My post was not a knock in any way to the NDA program. Always a great game to watch, the fans support their teams like no other and the players are as classsy as the coach. Good luck in the 9th to the Pandas!!!!

Thank you shsbballmom!! I will be the first to agree that Notre Dame and Boone are top notch teams. I often will go watch them play if my own daughters team isn't playing on a particular night. But I agree that there are many other teams out there who are just as dedicated and work just as hard as Notre Dame girls. Maybe even harder!! As some of these other teams are not as loaded with talent as Boone or Notre Dame ...they often have to work extra hard to get the job done. I think it is really demeaning to say that some teams are teams that "you just have to show up to beat". My daughters team probably would be put in that category by some.... but I guarantee there aren't any other teams who work any harder than hers. I have personally heard many of the girls say at particular games.. "this is the night". Because any given team on any given night can beat another. Some maybe a little more likely than others:rolleyes: but none the less! Our girls do hustle, have great attitude, come to play their games and want to work to get better! I would love to hear about some of the "lesser known teams" successes!

Does anyone know how the player that was injured during the HHS vs Dixie game is doing. It's always scary when a player goes down. Hope she is okay.

She is a 6'1" sophmore for Simon Kenton. #33. Very nice girl. Great player.

Yes, the same with Summit View Middle School in Kenton County. Kids from there go to all three of the county High Schools. Currently there are 4 middle schools and 3 high schools in Kenton County so that would even complicate matters more!

Any other ideas on this possibility??

Enjoyed watching this game as two top teams matchup. Chelsea Tolliver was amazing to watch. I've seen her before, and she always looks good...but last night, (especially against another top team) she was definitely the whole package!! She seems to never run of energy either!!! 110% for the whole game. No attitude. Just great talent and game smarts..:ylsuper:

Do most of the Varsity teams in Northern Ky also play together in the spring/summer. If so what league and where are games usually played? Is this a good thing to do or not?!

Heres a little bit of info on the JV tournament: Conner beat Ryle Conner beat St Henry Scott beat Bellevue Brossart beat Campbell NCC beat Simon Kenton Boone beat Holy Cross Highlands beat Villa As of now....(subject to change!!) I think there are at least 3 games on Friday,the 26th. Two of the games start at 4:45 and then the next following that. They are: Dixie vs Holmes Notre Dame vs Ludlow Lloyd vs Highlands There will be games on Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th but not sure yet of times but these are the matchups that I know of: Conner vs Scott Brossart vs Dixie/Holmes winner NCC vs Notre Dame/Ludlow winner Boone vs Highlands/Lloyd winner

So how is Simon Kenton this year? Haven't heard much talk yet this year about the 8th region

WOW.... Coach K....apparently the fact that people move to different school districts is a fact that has traumatized you for life. These girls are all happy playing where they are playing (isn't that what it is all about?) and it is all legit....so stop bringing it up.

Agreed. Great points!! I know the coach wants what is best for her. Just to clarify...She is a freshman, she played varsity last year in the second half of the year. Is playing every minute of all varsity games this year. She is in very good physical condition, loves the game and wants to play! We think JV would help to improve her game confidence and were looking for the pros and cons of playing only JV or only Varsity or playing both. Just wondering what others "who know" thought about it. Thanks again for the input.

In this particular case it is not at all about winning a JV game. This is a question by a parent about what might or might not be good for a particular player and team. She is a freshman, starts all Varsity games and plays the entire game,(there are only 5 Varsity players!) but.....the program is really really struggling now and there will be only 3 returning varsity players next year. There are 2 or 3 JV players that get maybe a quarter of play each Varsity game. (otherwise it's the starting 5 for the whole game). The confidence level of this freshman is down and I am wondering if playing some JV would help with that. The attitude, hustle, and talent on the JV seems to me to be better than the Varsity. The JV coach had mentioned her playing some JV as had the varsity coach but hasn't acted on it yet. We thought it may be a playing time rule or something. Thanks for any additional input on this as we would only want what was best for the team and would never try to second guess the coach....just wanting to see some success in this program!

Can anyone tell me the rules concerning playing jv if you are a varsity starter. Is there a limit to the number of varsity starts you can have and still play jv. (assuming you are of jv age). Is there a limit to varsity minutes of play and still be able to play jv. Thanks ahead of time for setting me straight on this topic.

WOW..... Well said. I have not ever seen a Grant game as we are in a different district, but your post could be true for many many other coaches and programs. Fans are often quick to blame "someone" for the outcome of a game. I think if we can remember what we want for our girls is to help make them better all around "people"....not just "players"...we would be doing well. Lets keep things in perspective and stop looking for all the negatives. High school coaches and their families give a lot of themselves so that our girls can have the experiences that they get. No they aren't perfect..but neither are any of us. So lets give them credit where credit is due and promote the positive atmosphere our girls need to succeed. Remember no matter their age...our children are always looking at us to set the example.

Jacy will and should be the point guard for the rest of her high school career. I think she often doesn't get the credit she deserves. She is one of the most focused players I have ever watched and has such game smarts on top of that!!! She is extremely talented and works on her game 24/7/365!! Also a class act!!

Definitely hard to gauge freshman talent when they are playing JV and V. Have seen some freshman talent on the Holy Cross, Highlands, NCC and Dixie Varsity teams. Not sure of any names but would like to know so we could keep track of how they are doing the rest of the year.
