I disagree. East Carter may not be able to compete with the Scott Co and the Holmes but I think they are a top 25 team in the state.

East Carter will give the 16th region two pretty good teams this year. They are good enough to compete with close to anyone in the state this year.

I can understand why you dont agree with me Mclovin. At times Knipp did not play well last year but like I have said he is a much improved player. I do disagree that he did not look like a D-1 player at any point last season. Lets remember he was a freshman and he had his moments where he was the best player on the floor and he controled the paint on the defensive end in many games last year. Watch him play the first chance you get this season and I think he will change your mind.

Timmy is a special player right now. He was a Freshman last year and made some mistakes. He is a much, and let me empahize much improved player from last year, mentally and physically. He is the best player in the class of 2011, with the expection of me not seeing Kimbro play, and will play high major division 1.

Ian Danis(Montgomery County), Logan Hogge(Bath County), and Jared Stacy(Rowan County) qualified for the state tournament as indiviuals with a 75, 76, and 77. The tournament was played at Hidden Cove golf course.

I disagree. I think what makes the "Sandy Hook faithful" as you call get up in arms is the way the poster go about giving Elliott County credit. This thread is a good example. The debate that Ferguson was the best scorer in the state. Someone gave his average from this summer. Then another poster came and said he dosent put much stock into AAU defense. Fair enough. Some then they put his high school averages. Then someone was downgrading his high school schedule. Things such as these is what get Elliott County fans up in arms. Everytime a "Sandy Hook faithful" tries to back up his reasoning someone has to a puts an astrict by their accomplishments.

Ask Team Philly if he can score. Ask Michigan Mustangs if he can score. Ask Las Vegas Prospects if he can score. Ask all the other teams he scored 30 on this summer if he can score. Ferguson averaged somewhere around 21-23 points a game this summer on the AAU circuit. You take who you want, I'll take Ferguson.

Where I agree some games Elliott played last year wasn't a great assessment for Ferguson's scoring ability, I disagree in a sense as well. If you look at the games where Elliott was challenged, those are the games Ferguson usually shined the most in. Christian County, thoughout the 5/3rd that included games with North Oldham, Grace Academy, and Cov Cath, Hunington High, both Mason County games were all 25+ point nights for Ferguson with some being 30+.

If he meant Hood, then my mistake. I'm not trying to make an argument for Ferguson being better than this player or that player, I simply stated that he was the best scorer in the state and was TOP 10 wing player in the state. Can Ferguson play anything but the 2 position? Who knows right now because he has never had to. Honestly, I think he can but I won't argue that point because no one on this board has ever witnessed anything but him playing the 2. What I will aruge though, is that if he can't, he will learn to. Ferg has an unbelieveable work ethic and at the next level, if necessary, he can be taugh to play other positions.

According to the people of this boards last year, yes Grimes was the best defender in the state. I didn't say the players you listed above weren't good. I simply said that Ferguson was the best scorer in the state, which his numbers prove considering he has led the state in scoring the last two years, and I said he was a top 10 wing player in the state. I agree 100% that Vee and Ricardo deserve to be mentioned, even though Vee is not 6'6. BTW, Ferguson averaged over 28 points a game last year, over 6 rebounds, over 2 steals, almost a block a game, and at times was the point guard last year. Ferguson has serious interest from both Mississippi State and West Virginia. I would probably consider that major D-1.

The team winning or losing is irrelevant to this aurgement. You are doubting Ferguson being a 10 top wing player in the state. Last year, according to most people on this board, Micheal Grimes was the best defensive player in the state and Ferguson had 30 on him. By himself he kept Elliott County in that game.

What about Covington Catholic? Everyone was on this board talking about how Grimes was gonna shut Ferguson down. If I recall correctly, he walked out of the building that night with 30.

No one in the state can score the ball like Ferguson. Hands down the best shooter in the state.

To my knowledge, Lion Mania didn't predict a 16th region championship. He knows the game plenty well enough to know that any team can be upset but to say EC would be thumped by any of the teams listed above is quit a statement. Where I agree 100% that any of the teams you listed COULD beat Elliott County, to write EC completely off aganist those teams before the season starts is a bit early, IMHO. Elliott County's schedule will be as challenging as any this year. EC plays possibly the best team in WV, South Charleston, in the KY Bank Shootout. They travel to the most prestigious christmas tournament in the nation to play 4 top 25 teams in the country. They play one of the best teams in the 8th region, Anderson County, in Montgomery County's shootout and Mason County travels to Sandy Hook to play this year. Not to mention playing East Carter twice, Bath County, and Ashland which you yourself predicted to be good games. So EC will be battle tested. Maybe Elliott County isn't a top team in the state but to say they would be thumped by the seven teams you listed, I think, is a bit rash.

East Carter will be a top 25 team in the state before the year ends. 6'6 Colt Barnhill will cause 16th region teams fits. Has a nice touch around the basket and is a horse on the boards. Add 6'7 Devin Kawada and 6'4 Mark Pemberton and you have one of the taller teams in the state. You can count on solid guard play from Tyler Jackson night in and night out. IMO, Bair is the X-factor. If he can cut down on his turnovers this year, East Carter will be a tough out for any team in the state.

Franklin County may be the most underrated team in the state. Meyer and Donovan make up one of the best duos in the state. Mix that with the athleticism of Hicks, Conner, and Hall and you have a team that can contend for the 11th region championship. Maybe not as talented as Scott County, but on a given night, defiantly have the potential to beat them.

Jared Flanery (Elliott Co.), Brad Martain (GRC), and Ian Danis (Montgomery Co.) should be among the favorites.

Im pretty sure Elliott Co plays Madisonville.
