The KHSAA has addressed this issue by mandating a rule concerning it. I'm sure if the KHSAA has thought that a great advantage was being gained they would have disallowed it. Except for the Mercer County deal this past football season, they seem to be pretty concerned with advantages and disadvantages.

Why not come out and give it a try yourself? Be pro-active. Don't just sit and complain, do something about it. Register with the state and come out and call if you think the officials are bad. If you knew the mechanics and everything else that went into officiating a ballgame, I would bet my last dollar that you would have a change of heart. You must realize that's it's unrealistic to think that officials are going to get every call right, it's just not going to happen. An official could have called a great game but if he or she misses one call, no matter how miniscual a call it is, that's the one call that you will remember and then you'll say "he 's horrible" or my all-time favorite " That's Ridiculous". If you think you can do better, come on out. I'm sure the assiciation would love to have ya, maybe they could teach you a thing or two about offciating. Now would be the perfect time to join. There will be a changing of the guard and everyone will be on an equal playing field from the start.

Yea, he had to sit out for the entire year with a knee injury but he worked hard to get back on the court. That was very difficult for a kid to handle but he handled better than most adults would.

The 2nd part of your post is not quite correct. A student who turns 19 before August 1st is ineligible for interscholastic competition. A student who turns 19 after August 1st is eleigible for the entire year.

I have watched this kid grow since the day he took his first breath on earth and he has turned into one of the best young men I have ever known. This kid has overcome more adversity in his athletic career than many will overcome in their lifetime. I wish with all of my heart that he could have experience the Sweet 16 in his career but it just wasn't meant to be but that does not take away from the things he has accomplished in his career. He accomplished many things on the basketball court and if he would have been healthy throughout his career and had more time on the court he would be in Ashland's top 20 in many categories. While I'm sure he wishes he could have had that time on the court, the time off the court has allowed him to learn things more important than basketball that he may not have learned otherwise. He has learned and accomplished life lessons that will benefit him much more than a scoring record will ever do. Robby played the majority of his junior year with a serious back injury that would have sidelind most kids with pain but not Robby, he played through the pain for most of the entire year. As soon as Robby worked his way back onto the court, another injury seemed to always occur but Wilcox never quit. He never asked "why me", he never complained, and he never ever quit. He just went to work... and he worked, and worked, and worked, until he got back on the court to compete with his team and that says alot about his character. It was truly inspiring to watch as he put in countless hours of rehab and practice to get back with his team. He knew his team needed him and he did absolutely everything he could to get back to them as fast as he possibly could. He is definately the most resilent young man I have ever seen and that will only benefit him in the future. I just wanted to give him a bit of appreciation for all the years of joy he has brought to my life. It's been a complete joy to watch you excell and grow in everything you put your mind to. I have no doubt that you will be everything you ever dream to be and I hope to be there for every step.

I disagree with this last statement. While it may have seemed to be that way during the games of Drew you have watched, it's hardly been the way it's been through his whole career. He had a few calls go against him in the regional tournry this year(I thought they were good calls) but if what you're saying is true than the calls would have went for him rather than against him.

Had trouble with Bath? What game were you watching? Bath made a run in the 4th but as soon as Russell started to play again they took control quite easily.

You said the officials played the game, not the girls. That's pretty much saying the officials had a major role in Russell's win and Rowan's loss.

Come on, the Russell girls won that game. The officials didn't shoot 20% from the field, they didn't grab any rebounds, or make any assists.

Congrats to the Tomcats on the win. I especially want to say Congrats to Ali Wilcox. She deserves this win as much as anyone could. Ali spends countless hours in the gym practicing on her own and with her father. She loves to play the game and gives her all every second that she's on the court. Her parents have done a great job of raising a good basketball player but more impotantly raising a good human being. She's just a great all-around kid who works really hard for everything she gets. I wish I could have come to watch her play more this year but it didn't work out that way although I always brought a radio to listen to them if they were on. I look forward to watching her play over the next 2 years as she reaches her full potential. Congrats to Ali and the rest of her Tomcats on an impressive win over West. Good Luck against Russell.

Quite a few, I'd say.

The 2004 Morgan team was a very good team but nobody would have beat Belfry that year. That was one of the strongest teams I've ever seen in 2A. I think that team was one of the best 2A champs in the state in a good while. (Except for 2005 Russell, of course) They were the real-deal!! Back to Coach Woods, he turned Morgan County football into a program. The area is losing one of it's best coaches but I wish him nothing but the best. When people think of Morgan County coming to town, they no longer think of that game as an easy win as in the past. They now think of that game as a tough one because they know Morgan will come to play and that wasn't the case in the past but it is definately the case now. Morgan County now has a repectable program in football and they can thank Coach Woods for that. As an official, I can truely say that he is a pleasure to work with. He coaches his team and leaves the officiating to the officials and I respect that alot. I don't know why he resigned but I'm sure he had his reason. I hope he has tons of success in his future endevours.

The "T" occurred with 20 seconds left when the game was well in hand and probably wouldn't have played if the game wasn't. I'll take the blame for what happened Friday. Tuesday night when Russell played Raceland, we used the last page of the book. So we had to use a new book for the Lewis County game. Coach Dodd had not written the names of the kids who were dressing on that night, so I had to do it. The lady who was kepping the official book needed to get hers ready, so I had to get the names written while the boys were at both ends of the court. We had 3 different changes to the book that night and I did not realize 1 of them. That is what happened. With the new book and all of the changes to our roster, I missed one. It was my mistake and I take full responsibility for it, no one else. Coach was not happy about anything Friday. As for what happened at Rupp last year, I had nothing to do with filling out the roster that day.

Your post obviously shows that and if your going to call me out on something, I'd advise you to know what you're talking about. Get your facts straight. You're clueless as to what happened.

It one thing to kid around with programs, coaches, and fellow BGPers but it's another to talk sarcastically about the kids.

I wasn't attacking your opinion of Jonathan because it is just that, an opinion. You know what they say about opinions. I know how good Jonathan really is because I see him play every game, unlike someone who sees him twice a year. What I was attacking was your accessment of Russell without Vanhoose and your lack of knowledge of their abilities.
