Darkhorse----- I'd say Rowan County. The Daniels kid is good enough to carry a team to a regional crown. He's got a solid team surrounding him as well. Could be very dangerous or they could be out in the 1st round. Never know. Fairview has been playing well of late but it's been at home. I wonder if they can play well outside of their homecourt. They'll have to beat a very good Ashland team to even make it to Morehead. Probable... Maybe, Likely.... No way.

I don't think anyone WANTS to see Ashland anytime during the postseason. They are a very good ballclub who can beat anybody on any given night. With that said, I don't think Ashland wants to play the Devils either. They will be very difficult to beat even without Gill. He is their leading rebounder and is a scoring threat every trip down the court. It doesn't look good for him to be back before the regionals at least. I think he'll go back to the DR on Tuesday to see if his spleen has gotten better, the DR said it is a possibility for improvement. Good win for the Devils in a very hostile environment. Good momentum builder with the districts coming next week. They need not overlook Raceland, for last time the Rams built a 16 or 17 pt lead before Russell awoke for a big comeback. It's 5 game season and it's what they've been playing for this whole season. If Russell plays their game and up to their capabilities, they're going to be very hard to beat. This region is very tough and anyone can beat anyone on any given night. Should be fun!!!

This isn't even close, it's COV CATH in a landslide. Ashland's section was out done by Russell's tonight at Anderson. They had a contest which I think ended in a draw but I thought Russell's had the thing won. Maybe because they had things to cheer about and Ashland's section didn't have much to cheer about in the second half. I'm not being sarcastic, I think that was the case. But the answer to this thread is definately COV CATH. NO doubt about it, they are the best in the state and maybe the nation.

The material Ashland uses is the exact same stuff Cov Cath has been doing for a while. Ashland's section has been great since about midway through the season.

By a second and a half ? I don't know if any official could get one wrong that bad. Is that an exaggeration?

Should be a good one. I hope both team are full-strength but I doubt they will be. I doubt Gill will play and I'd say Wilcox will with it being his last game at Anderson. I know he is feeling better and he's pumped for this game. Him and the rest of the Tomcats want to leave Ashland on a winning note but will the Dodd Squad ruin all that? If anyone can, it's them. They've been playing well of late and will be looking to ride that good play right into the postseason starting next week. Should be a fun one.

It looks pretty strong! Anyone in particular you want to know about? I don't want to list the names because some of the players may not have gotten the invite yet. I know one kid from Russell( I wonder who that could be) didn't find out until last night about 10:00.

Great Win for the Devils!!!! Congrats on an undefeated home schedule this year. That's one goal reached and now let's go after goal #2, then #3. I hopw Scott Gill gets well soon cause we're going to need him come region time. Marcus really stepped up tonight with 15 points on Senior Night. That may just be his career high, I'm pretty sure it. Russell had to finish with it's JV team on the floor other than Ross and Marcus subbing in on offense but they made enough FT to win. Great win!!! Now it's time for the trip to Tomcat country. Should be fun.

I hope they don't have it the same week as they did last year. That is the very same week of the KY/Tenn All-Star Game which will be played in Lexington. The players report on June 10th to camp in Lexington.

I haven't seen the Scott County fans so I can't comment on them but Cov Cath's cheers are pretty innovative as well. I can't see how you could get too much better than them. They're awesome.

The Ashland kids are using Cov Cath cheers. You're watching a secondhand Cov Cath cheering section. That's where they've gotten their cheers from. Anyway, I'll agree with ya about the best in the 16th, ever since about 3 weeks ago when they started practicing after school they have just been awesome for the Tomcats. Wilcox said they thrive off their energy and have been playing well ever since, so it seems. That's the same predictions you've had for every Ashland-Russell game for the past 4 years..... Ashland over Russell. It should be an awesome environment but the Devils need to focus on the task at hand and then they can think about their bitter rival. Vanhoose goes nuts tonight in his last game at the Marv. I think Blair will continue to play well with the absence of Gill. I look for Russell by about 6.

Cov Cath has the best cheering section in the state. Remember those guys last year at the Sweet 16? They were hilarious with some of the coolest antics I've ever seen. Ashland's section has been taking some of Coth Cath's cheers and putting them to use at Anderson. Should be a very hostile environment at Blazer, should be fun. Hey Blazer, your boy didn't do too great today in the 500. That's what you get for being a Gordan fan, although I love his #24. LOL!!! My #8 did great until the last 5 laps but Oh well, he'll be back next week.

Kasey has not signed with anyone yet. Murray is on his list but he has not decided anything yet and probably won't for a few weeks. I'll keep everyone updated.

Go out and do it yourself if you think it's that bad. Be pro-active, do something about it instead of sitting in the stands complaining. You see that you'll see the game from a completely different view.

He has not made a commitment to Georgetown or anyone else thus far. I appreciate all the support you've showed for Kasey and all the other area kids throughout their career. Your a genuine fan of not only Raceland but also the area as a whole. That shows your character.

Most association do have mentoring programs. Did you join an association? I know in our association we have about 4 or 5 training sessions for new officials and we start from the pregame field walk to mechanics on scrimmage kicks. And while experience is the best teacher, we try to instill the basics of officiating and get them as prepared as possible before they walk onto the field. It is also up to them as to how prepared they want to be because there is tons of things that need to be done at home to get prepared such as reading the books and knowing the rules. Learning the rules is the easy part, it's the interpreting the rules that has to be taught and learned. While in the past our association has over-looked the newer officials, we are changing things for the better. Last year there was 13 new officials throughout the entire state in football and our association had 6 of them and I'm proud to say that we still have all six new officials as members.

There are a few steps you need to take..... 1. Print off a form off http://www.KHSAA.org in order to register with the state. 2. A few weeks after registering you will recieve your rule books along with a test. You must take that test and send it back to the KHSAA. I believe you must score an 80% on the test to get registered. 3. After the registering process you must join a local association. Joining an association will probably cost you around $30-$35 in dues. There are many across the state and the KHSAA should point you in the right direction as to witch one to join. 4. Then you must do what ever the association requires of their officials to get a schedule for the assigner of the association. Usually it's a certain number of training session and meeting. I would advise going to as many as possible. You could also attend various camps around the state that are VERY helpful. Most association have a mentor program for new officials.

They are getting one very hard runner in Wayne Stevens. He's a very talented kid. Congrats to him. It's great to see all these kids from eastern KY fulfill their dreams of playing collge football and to see them all play for 1 team is just icing on the cake. This is great for the community.

I understood what you were trying to say. If I sounded a bit defensive, I apologize. I didn't mean to at all, I knew exactly what you were trying to say and I agreed with whole-heartedly. You were dead on with that post and sometimes the education part gets put on the back burner and that's a shame because that's the most important part after all. I'm glad you brought that to attention because sometimes people need to be reminded, me included.
