  1. I'm not saying that Euton and Jackson aren't legitimate transfers, but we are on a slippery slope here because everyone who wants a transfer feels it is for a legitimate reason in their(parents & player) own minds regardless of what the KHSAA says and when was the last time the KHSAA ruled against a top player in the state or program in the state transfering. They've investigated, held meetings, ect. and in the end the transfer holds up and the kids get to play and the school benefits from having the better player on their team. This situation would have best been served if the parents had kept their mouths closed to the press and public and just transfered and let ther KHSAA make their rulings and let all of us on the web sites express our opinoins. Like I said before, the problem is only going to get worse as time goes by and smaller or less successfull schools that lose really good players on regular basis year in and year out will demand that the KHSAA go to a mandatory sit-out a year rule.
  2. This puts the KHSAA in a precarious place, either do away with the transfer rule all together or make it mandatory no matter what the reason, you sit out a year, no appeals, no questions asked everyone plays on an even plane. Because of what high school basketball has become of because of college recruiting pressures and AAU traveling teams and the blue chip and elite camps, young men and women are getting some good and some not so good advice from people who are not family and school officials. These kids from smaller schools or rural areas are being told to go to bigger schools that are historically state contenders year in and year out to get your name out there, get a chance to win a championship or a Mr. Basketball and also keep playing with some of your summer team friends. This is a problem that is going to increase if something isn't done one way or the other. Personally I favor sitting out a year, like the NCAA, but if the KHSAA rules would do away with the transfer rule all together so be it. You would have parents transfereing their kids because little Jimmy doesn't like the coach, or doesn't get to play as much or whatever reasons that have been listed on here a hundred times over.
  3. Any word on where Coury will end up, also what happened to Perry and the 2 walk-ons. Will they be invited to walk-on or try-out or is BCG sticking with these 12?
  4. 92 Dream Team wins, even with some of the players past their prime, they still win because of their expierience and Robinson, Ewing, and Barkley dominate the inside against Howard and Bosch. Besides Jordan, Bird, Johnson and Co. were better outside shooters than what the Redeemers are shooting these Olympics. Old Timers by at least 12 to 15. IMHO:thumb:
  5. Just can't wait for Gold Star or Burger King to start selling Chris Henry Bengal Striped Ankle Monitors instead of glasses or bobble heads. Mike Brown said last month in an interview with P Doc he considered himself a redeemer, but when is enough enough with bad decisions with less than reputable people whose only imput to the rest of the world is catching a ball. I blame Rich Rod at WVU because if he had done the right thing years ago nobdy would even remember who Chris Henry was!
  6. Shame it wasn't a broken jaw and maybe we wouldn't have to listen to him but he could still play, "QUIETLY". Alas, he would have found away to still be annoying.
  7. My daughter went back to Morehead this week, and there is a gas station about 10 min. east of Flemingsburg on Rt. 32 selling for $3.58 a gallon and since the wife now works there in Morehead too they get our business whenever possible. Maysville area just gouges whenever possible imo.
  8. I heard on the news the other night when this broke that UC decided because he filed the lawsuit on his own that he still will not be able to practice with the team or anything else because they are afraid if he does it will violate NCAA rules to go along with their decision not to grant the 6th year of eligibility.
  9. Thanks, this wasn't listed on the KHSAA schedule for us.:thumb:
  10. From what I have seen over the last few years, Fooks @ Boone Co., Brooks @ Paris, and the lady who coaches @ Rockcastle Co. she really impressed me at a team camp @ Union College 3 years ago. Plus you can't take anything away from the guy who coached at Lex. Cath. and the whole Scott Co. staff.:thumb:
  11. Here is the partial schedule from the KHSAA site. Dec. 9 Cov. Holy Cross @ Home Dec. 16 Pendleton Co. @ Falmouth Jan. 23 Henry Clay @ Lexington Jan. 27 Fleming Co. @ Home Jan. 31 Campbell Co. @ Alexandria Feb. 2 Paul Dunbar @ Lexington Feb. 3 Montgomery Co. @ Home Feb. 10 Elliott Co. @ Sandy Hook Feb. 13 Harrison Co. @ Home Feb. 17 Bishop Brossart @ Alexandria Feb. 20 Bryan Station @ Lexington Hope this helpfull to all.
  12. Please take this for what it is worth, I did when I asked a few questions of the same degree about the girls program upgrading their schedule a few years ago and was told in a round about way that some of the people who would be running the show didn't want some of the logistical problems associated with hosting a major holiday tourny. Such as gauranteed monies, helping pay hotel expenses, scheduling volunteer workers, security, ect. ect. In short too much trouble and didn't want to take up their free time. Local teams can practice and sleep at home and miss no school days if that pertains to their schedule. Just show up and play. Also even with new construction of hotel space in Maysville, rooms are at a premium because of power plant construction workers living their over the last few years.
  13. I would like to see Dusty go and get somebody who has a little more clubhouse control and will consistantly stress defensive fundamentals from spring training through out the whole season, but I don't see Mr. C letting Walt eat his contract. As soon as the last out is made, Walt needs to be standing at the door with a pink slip in his hand for Corey Patterson and Josh Fogg, enough said, lets not beat that horse anymore! Start looking to make a trade for a catcher, centerfielder and third baseman using Encarnacion, Freel, Hopper, Majewski, Weathers, Merker, Coffee and a slew of minor leaguers to try to get some help at those positions. Make the best deals he can get using some of those named because I don't see them as long term answers for this team. Let the 1st Round draft pick walk, take the money he waqnts and try for a free agent at one of those positions and take the 2 first round picks next year and draft 2 pitchers. IMHO!
  14. Let him go and spend the money that he wants on pitching, pitching, pitching like the Cutman always says. Then draft 2 more pitchers in the first round next year
  15. Didn't mean any disrespect to Campbell Co. team, coaches, and fans but knowing what most of these teams have comming back this year just playing the favorites card. But this is August and by the time January rolls around anything could have happened to change the scenarios of all teams playing.
  16. Looks like a Mason Co.- Brossart final on Sunday.
  17. Saw a video clip last week of Marvin at one of his press conferences on channel 5 and this is not true. He said the Bengals are not interested and wouldn't be and wished him the best of luck.
  18. AMAZING SHOW!:dancingpa I feel for Clay Counsil and his arm and shoulder, makes me tired just watching.
  19. The ACC should lock him up to do their games regionally, would be a good move on their part. Still glad to see him go. I like Kellogg, but I would have gone with Jay Bilas. He's knowlegable and I just like how he presents himself on camera.
  20. I've had this conversation with friends, have the NBA expand the D-League, each team gets a "minor league" style team. Each NBA team could have 15 on the NBA roster and 12 or 15 in the minors. This creates more jobs for the players union and high schoolers don't have to go to college. In turn, the NCAA goes to a 4-yr. LOI, if you go to college, you have to stay 4 or 5 yrs and you cannot jump to the pros because the NBA, NCAA, NBAPA has all signed off on it, until your class graduates. College coaches know they can recruit players for long term, not 1 and dones. Also, the NCAA allows one transfer with no penalty of sitting out a year, in cases of coaches leaving, family problems or medical problems. Also the NBA mandates some type of summer school and helps fund it for the non-college educated to help them get some type of career guidance after their careers are over. You go to summer school part-time or no contract. Also the NCAA needs to make scholarships a type of student loan. You pull your 4 or 5 yrs. you don't have to repay it. You leave school on your own for whatever reason, flunked out, kicked off for violations, whatever, then the school calculates the number of semesters attended, room and board and books and you will have to pay this amount back and just like student loans for regular students you cannot get out of paying it back. The government or in this case the school, gets their money back. Just some pretty good ideas imho that will never happen, but would make things better.
  21. I agree with this and like Pressrow has stated many times the best team on championship night usually will win the game. This year will be just a little different playing in a bigger arena on a neutral floor and I am excited about getting to go to a new facility. Just curious what the NKU officials are going to get as their cut of the pie being that others on this thread have stated that schools take of the tournament monies were down about a grand each this year.
  22. We're just waiting for all that gambling money to start rolling in before we release the plans for Rupp Arena Lite!
  23. If you go up against all-UCLA maybe you'll need to start this lineup:PG-Macy, SG-Givens(I know he is out of position), C-Phillips, F-Robey, F-Walker. Big lineup for UK to go against Alcindor and Walton down low, but I hate to admit it, UCLA wins the whole thing against the rest of the field, IMHO.
