A not so good official would still know where those relationships lie. There is also an assigning secretary to help with those decisions. Another thing to consider is that the football referees work as "teams". How many football officials assigned for each game, 6?. What a difficulty it would be to assign games if you had to assign games ensuring that none of the officials on that "team" graduated from either of the schools playing.

Agreed. Simon is better than most of the 2A schools so there would be no sense climbing the ladder to get to Trinity.

Official shouldn't ref where he has a personal relationship. I don't think graduating from there 15 or 20 years ago qualifies as that. How about where their kids went, their wife went, their nephew plays, their co-workers' child plays, etc., etc. I think a good official knows where these relationships lie and can make that decision.

I don't like sitting kids just so they don't get hurt. The starters only get 10-13 games all season and I hate for them to lose a whole game to avoid injury. I understand what you are saying but the game is still for the kids and they've put the work in and should receive the benefit. I don't have a problem limiting the time to a quarter or two, or sitting guys that are recovering or just off injury. Injuries are a risk of the game. My peeve - Fans in the stands the yell instructions to kids on the field. Like they're going to hear you and do what you say?? First, they are pretty far away and wouldn't likely hear you if out in an empty field that far away. Secondly, they are wearing helmets. Thirdly, it's loud on the field! Players and coaches yelling, etc. Fourth, They're concentrating on what they're doing. Most coaches have trouble getting a players attention and they are 30 feet away! And lastly, the players (and coaches) don't want your input. Be loud, cheer, boo, applaud or whatever. But don't coach from the stands. Trust me, they don't hear you.

No travel and agree with the push call. Defender in bad position and pushes airborne shooter. That's a foul anytime throughout the game.

Flagrant foul includes intent to injure or harm. Flagrant fouls are usually reserved for punches or intentional elbows. It carries disqualification as part of penalty. Intentional foul can be for not making legitimate play on the ball or because of the severity of the foul. No disqualification. Both include two free throws and ball at the spot of the foul.

Clock stops on change of possession, correct? So ref should be waiving arms if calling play dead. They agreed it was fumble, not waiving arms indicates don't stop clock, play not over. NCC player may have been down (i haven't seen video) But the play was most assuredly "kicked" by the officials.

I don't know, haven't seen video. But if ref sees turnover with knee down, he whistles and waives play dead. That didn't happen from what I saw. Would like to see video.

They blew the play at a critical point! Actually thought they called a pretty good game. Let defensive backs hold receivers more than I liked. But they blew that play. Even if they got it correct, it looked like a total guess.

I saw no official waive the play dead either. Although it may be hard to hear a whistle, the video should be extremely easy to see official with arms over their head waiving play dead. Anyone see that?
