  1. Seed doesn't matter as much as you might think. You get your seed from your body of work for the season. In a single game it's sometimes simply how good your ace is.
  2. On the off chance that he does real time, he best cut his hair or he will be wearing it in pigtails.
  3. T may not have the best QB, but they will have a system that makes him look awful good. And speaking on behalf of all T fans, SK is always "stoppable". On a very serious note I wish the QB at SK the very best next season.
  4. I only read about 1/2 of the coach's complaint, because all I could get from it was, "Wahhh, wah, wahh, wahhh (sniff)... wahh waaahh waaahhhh, wahh, wah (sniff)... we're inferiorrrrrr, wahh wah (sniff, sniff)... we gotta knock you down a notch (pause; sniffle) ...to make ourselves feel betterrrrrrrr (sniff)..."
  5. Huh? He's black and when he came to the old Hawley-Cooke bookstore there were probably 80-100 people there to listen to him and more than 75% of them were black.
  6. tried to post the Amazon link, but the N-word is in the http address and BGP won't let it through.
  7. There is a book by an African-American professor from Harvard simply titled "Ni**er" (with "g"s where the *s are). I am white and I've read parts of it - actually went to hear him speak in Louisville about 14 years ago. In it he argues that as long as we continue to keep the stigma with the word society will never escape its grasp. He basically implies that we should let everyone use it, and that African-Americans need to show that they will not allow it to offend them, and then the word loses it's power.
  8. "Tarzan!... long time no see."
  9. I'm a T fan but I have to say straight up that I like the "X" with the cross in it. And isn't the Trinity "T" relatively new? In the 80s all I ever remember seeing was the shamrock with maybe "Rocks" written in it.
  10. This boils down to where the leadership of a school wants to have its nose: in the air? or to the grindstone? I cannot applaud T loudly enough for this.
  11. I went to the game, and even if you were not a die hard T or X fan, this was a flat out excellent HS baseball game to watch.
  12. With a kid getting ready to go there, I am THRILLED. Gives kids ammunition against peer pressure. And if there's a student that fails multiple tests then I don't want my son sitting next to him in class.
  13. Done it once... Saved the guy. Felt like an out of body experience when it happened. Hope I never have to do it again though.
  14. Might have happened in Ferguson had Michael "Thug" Brown been quicker on his feet.
  15. As a white man I honestly do understand this and there is absolutely merit to it. In a perfect world there shouldn't be, but we live in a far from perfect world.
  16. Don't get me wrong, Obama had the deck stacked against him as the first Black president. He just doesn't have the "I'm in control at all times" attitude that Clinton or Reagan did. Shouldn't matter what color you are; Stand up and say out loud, "Those people in Baltimore are criminals - rioters and looters - and should be dealt with harshly so that the peaceful protesters can be safe."
  17. For the record I fully understand the need for better race relations in this country. But I believe it has less to do with color of skin and more to do with economic stature. I hate that in our country a white or black officer can shoot a white man and it doesn't make the news (and when it does the officer is referred to as non-white, LOL). Or a white officer can kill a white man. Still nothing. You can even take cops out of the equation: A black man can kill a black man or a white man can kill a white man or a black man can kill a white man and again, very little coverage. But if a white man kills a black man then wire up the speakers for Sharpton and 2X. I know a couple of African Americans who (quietly) are a little embarrassed by this themselves.
  18. I don't hate Obama, but I do think he is a weak president that has done very little for race relations and, frankly, for the office itself. As for the protesting, not only is it OK, it is downright necessary in some instances. But the looters? Arrest them all, regardless of race, creed, or national origin.
  19. I'm guessing the 3 seniors got together and said, "The adults will HATE these... SO LET'S GET THEM!"
  20. There is not a single looter that is the least bit upset over the death of that man. If anything the looters are happy he died so as to have their opportunity to behave as they are without fear of being responsible for their actions.
  21. This case always riles me. There are legitimate cases out there where innocent people have been harassed/injured/even killed by officers. But not here. For some reason our society wanted to make this criminal/thug the poster child for police "racism". Several minority witnesses testified that Brown attacked the cop in his car, started to leave the scene, disobeyed officer's commands, then charged the officer and was shot. I hate whenever a life is lost, but like grandma always said, you gotta lie in the bed you make.
  22. If they get a settlement I am sure they will seriously scrutinize some growth stock mutual funds (maybe even some foreign funds), and max out their Roth IRAs (assuming each family member had an earned income of at least $5500 this year).
  23. I would put my right hand on blue, she could put her left hand on yellow, and together we could make green. :-)
