  1. The entire roster and coaching staff is coming to the Shining Star Sports program. The team decided to make a change and the Shining Star program was a good fit. Coach Davis will continue to coach the team. The Shining Star Sports-Pittman team will still be together and play for Shining Star Sports. They are coming off of a very successful AAU season and look forward to building off of that success. Both of these teams are very talented and will represent the Shining Star program very well. Both teams will play a very challenging tournament schedule. This merger will allow for Shining Star to have two of the top teams in the state of Kentucky and will draw a great deal of attention for all of its athletes. This is a very talented group of kids that will feed off of each other. Should be a very exciting spring/summer for the program.
  2. Simon played a freshman last year in Cody Chambers.
  3. Daniel O'Conner's father just informed me that his son has accept a scholorship offer to play at Tusculum. Tusculum College is an NCAA Division II school and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Congrats to Daniel O'Conner!!
  4. Pelle is a point guard. Played point at Silver Grove, played point for Shining Star and is playing point for West Liberty. Had a 169 assist last year as a sophomore.
  5. Speaking of Corey Pelle. WEST LIBERTY’S PELLE NAMED PRESEASON ALL-AMERICAN http://www.hilltoppersports.com/page.cfm?sport=84
  6. I disagree. Zollo may have gotten more attention as a freshman and a sophomore but I think that Setty has become a better player. Not taking anything from Zollo because he his a very talented players as well. Zollo may not be the best player on his team. I think that Stenzel and Setty are the best two players in their class. Setty will put up huge numbers during his junior season. He is a major inside/outside threat. He shoots the 3 at a very high percentage, has really improved his ability to use the bounce and has very good post game. I also believe that he has become a pretty good defender and understands how to use his length. In my opinion Setty will challenge for Mr. Basketball in the state of Kentucky as a senior.
  7. He is a special player with amazing vision. I wouldn't doubt him playing at a level high enough to compete in the Big East. If Pitino likes his game enough to bring him in that speaks volumes of this kids talent.
  8. Pohlgeers has a nice stroke from the perimeter but there is no way he scores 18 to 20 a game. How many kids in this region scored 18 to 20 a game last year?? He is a spot up shooter that needs someone to create shots for him. Most of the shots he got last year were because defenses had to focus on Romes and Buettel. This team lost a lot with the departures of Romes and Buettel and will struggle to score points.
  9. He played with Shining Star Sports and had a fantastic summer. http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=PITTMAN&t=c&s=basketball&p=profile&playerID=52712
  10. Austin Flannery was also offered a preferred walk on at EKU and has a visit with NKU to tour the campus/dormsn and workout with the team on Monday October 5th. I would love to see him end up at NKU.
  11. Just got a message from Mr. Flannery. He tells me that his son received an offer from Walsh University. Austin will be a senior at Scott County High School this upcoming season. He played on the AAU State Championship team with Shining Star Sports this past summer. Congrats to Austin! Hopefully this is the first of many for Austin.
  12. Expect a very nice season for Trevan Brown. He is a relentless rebounder and runs the floor very well. He will give them a lift with his energy and effort. They will have to move Andy out of the post when he is on the floor. T. Brown will really help Boone this upcoming season.

  14. Had a chance to speak with Tregg and ask him about the schools that are interested in him. Tregg had a great summer and is looking forward to getting the season started at Mason County. He told me that Xavier, Virginia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Wright State, Miami, Tennessee, Kentucky and Notre Dame are all in contact with him and communicating with him. SIU has offered him a scholorship. He has also gotten interest from Oregon State, Virginia Commonwealth and Oklahoma State. Tregg took a visit to Notre Dame this past weekend. He was very impressed with the campus and the facilities. He felt that it was a very good visit and is looking forward to a possible offer from the school. A very impressive list of schools are showing a lot of interest in Tregg. Good luck to Tregg in the recruiting process!!
  15. I think that Sawyer suprised a lot of people this past summer. He is a strong young man that plays a very physical style of basketball. Great rebounder, runs the floor very well and improving post skills. He should have a very strong sophomore year at Owen County.
  16. He is a grade exception but he is elgible to play 16u this upcoming summer. He could have played 15u last year. He is a sophomore. He will/could be dominate regardless of what level he plays at.
  17. A player that should be on the list as well is Cody Chambers of Simon Kenton. He started at SK as a freshman and had an amazing summer. He will be one of the top players in his class this year. He is a lot like Taylor Barnette of Lexington Christian. One of the best shooters I have had the pleasure of being around.
  18. Zeke was dominate this summer playing 16u. If he would have played 15u he would have been a flat out stud. He should be toward the top of this list. With his size, speed and strength he has the ability to dominate games.
  19. Mike has enrolled at NKU and has decided to attempt to walk on with the Norse. Thomas More was a possible option but decided to attend NKU. His decision has nothing to do with coaching AAU basketball. Good luck to Mr. Hester!
  20. He will either be attempting to walk on at NKU or he will be playing at Thomas More.
  21. The Shining Star Sports-Price (Blue) team lost to the Charlotte Royals by a score of 67 to 54 at the Division I AAU Nationals in Orlando Florida. The loss ends the season for the blue team. Thanks to all of the coaches and players for a great season. Good luck to: Ryan Popp of Boone County Donovan Johnson of Shelby County
  22. The Shining Star Sports-Price (White) team lost to MBA elite by a score of 57 to 43 on Thursday night. The loss ends the season for the white team. The team finishes a very successful season. Thanks to the players and coaches for a great year!! Good luck to: Trevor Wellbrock of Covington Catholic Blake Bryan of Villa Madonna Mitch McCleish of Ryle Scott Schuette of Lexington Catholic
  23. The season has come to an end for the Shining Star Sports-McFarland team. The team lost to the Florida Rams by a score of 62 to 58 in Orlando at the AAU Division I Nationals. The loss puts an end to one of the best seasons in Shining Star Sports history. 46 wins and only 9 losses for the season. Undefeated in pool play for the entire season. Kentucky AAU State Champions. The roster included some of the top players in the state of Kentucky and Indiana: Clay Coleman of Ryle Andy Earls of Boone County Will Evans of Lexington Christian Austin Flannery of Scott County Mike Gabbard of Boone County Donovan Gibbs of Iroqouis Chad Jackson of Scott County Stephen Kowolonek of Highlands Dylan McDaniel of New Albany Josh Sewell of Trinity Congrats to Coach McFarland, Coach Stowers and Coach Flannery on a fantastic season!!
  24. As good as this team is I would think that they would have planned on being in the championship game. Why would they not have arrangements to return after the tourney is completed? Congrats on an amazing season!! This team really represented the state of Kentucky very well.
