  1. I thought all of the teams had to check in and show birth certificates and grade exception forms. Did that not happen for all of the teams?? Does anyone know if the 15u team the Truth had in the tournament was playin with illeagal players? They were a big group of young men.
  2. I noticed that Tregg Setty of Mason County played with Team Kentucky this past weekend. Anyone know how he played??
  3. That was the first game for Fucci since the Regional High School tournament. Tates Creek is one of the top teams in the state in baseball and Fucci has been focused only on baseball. Not bad for a player who hasn't picked up a ball in a long while. I was very dissapointed that the ICE were not at full strength. When they are at full strenght they are fun to watch.
  4. Unless the Bulldogs are planning on making some roster changes they are not in the same catagory as the DSAS or Shining Star. The DSAS and Shining Star teams are loaded.
  5. Derek Smith wins the 16u championship 64 to 58. Remy Abbell of Eastern High School had 19 points and Timmy Knipp chipped in with 18 points. Scott Schuette of Lexington Catholic had 14 points, 10 points from Neal Pawsatt of Mason County and 9 points from Luke King of Deming. This was a fun game with a ton of talented young men. Very nice championship game. Congrats to the Derek Smith team and Coach Davis. Well deserved!!
  6. The Derek Smith vs KY Players game was one of the more exciting games of the weekend. Derek Smith won the game on an amazing move by Justice at the buzzer. He held the ball until about 5 seconds left in the overtime. He put a hesitation move on one of the Players defenders (undressed him) and layed it in at the buzzer to win it. Great game!!
  7. I thought they were a huge favorite to win the 15u bracket. They got beat by a very good Derek Smith team in their first bracket play game. Anyone have any details?
  8. I could not agree more. I was very suprised how many times Matt Trammell was taken out of games this weekend. It seemed like every time he got going he was pulled from the game. He scored 7 points in the first half against the Shining Star Sports team but played very little in the 2nd half.
  9. Decent first half but a blow out in the second half. Shining Star Sports ended up winning the game by 23 points. Gilbert had 13 and Pawsatt had 12. The biggest difference was the interior players. Trevon Brown of Boone County (10 points and 8 rebounds), Jake Geisler (8 points and 9 rebounds) of NCC and Zeke Pike of Dixie (9 points and 7 rebounds) had their way with the Bulldogs bigs. The Shining Star Sports big men held Hodges and Stauffer scoreless in the second half. #24 for the Bulldogs, I believe his name is Barnett really impressed me. He has a nice three point shot and handles very well. I like his game.
  10. Does anyone have any feedback on the 15u teams? Who are the favorites? Who are some of the better players?
  11. This Derek Smith team did not play in Nationals together. This team was just put together for the first time. They have not played together before this year. I was wondering the same thing about Charlotte Court and some of the other teams. Why are they not playing in the state tournament anymore?
  12. I was assuming that they put together two teams for this tournament. That would be nice if you could get some extra pool games to get your ready for bracket play!
  13. Fucci is a stud!! He was amazing last year in the state tournament. He put the Ice on his back and led them to the state championship. He and Wilder make a heck of a guard combo. DSAS is loaded. They go 10 deep and don't drop off much at all. Great team. Shining Star Sports. Very deep and talented team as well. Finished runner up last year to the state champion Ice. No disrespect to any of the other teams I just think these three teams are at another level then the rest of the field.
  14. I think that three of the teams in the 16u are much better than the other teams in the 16u tournament. DSAS, The Ice and Shining Star. These teams are loaded!!
  15. The Shining Star Sports-Pittman (15u) team has played in three tournaments. They have won two of the three and lost in the championship game of the other. They are off to a fantastic start. The team has a great group of guards. Cody Chambers of Simon Kenton Ross Muncy of Lexington Catholic Bryan Woomer of Lexington Catholic Cameron Duncan of Desales Cooper Downs of Boone County This is a fun team to watch. They play defense all over the floor and really push the ball on offense. They shoot a ton of threes with a lot of different players.
  16. My predictions: Pool 1 Ice 2-0 WKY Elite 1-1 Truth 0-2 Pool 2 Shining Star 2-0 Higher Level 1-1 Bulldogs 0-2 Pool 3 DSAS 2-0 WKY Elite 1-1 Hoyas 0-2 Champion: DSAS
  17. My predictions: Pool 1 Derek Smith 2-0 Shining Star 1-1 Firebirds 0-2 Pool 2 Storm 2-0 Higher Level 1-1 Clay Co. 0-2 Pool 3 Shining Star 3-0 Team Kentucky 2-1 Higher Level 1-2 Storm 0-3 Pool 4 Ky Players 3-0 Shining Star 2-1 Higher Level 1-2 Lightning 0-3 Champion: Shining Star Sports-McFarland
  18. I like the following teams to win the state tourney: 17u Shining Star Sports-McFarland 16u Derek Smith All Stars 15u The Ville Should be a great weekend of basketball!!
  19. Will Evans is playing with the Shining Star Sports-McFarland team this summer. He has been a super addition to a very talented roster. I was told that he had a fantastic tournament last weekend at the Speice Run N' Slam event. The team finished in the final four of the tournament. I would look for Will to have a nice senior season and garner a great deal of attention from the college coaches this summer.
  20. The Shining Star Sports-Pittman (16u) team won the 16u/17u Gold Bracket at the Dayton Metro Classic this weekend. Jordan Gilbert of Mason County Kellen Smith of Scott Scott Schuette of Lex Cath Neal Pawsatt of Mason County Jake Geisler of NCC Trevan Brown of Boone County Luke and Kyle King of Deming Nick Gray of Simon Kenton Devonte Bradley of Cooper Zeke Pike of Dixie
  21. I hope I am not forgetting anyone, but here are my top PG in Northern Kentucky next year: 1. Mike Gabbard of Boone County. Maybe the strongest point guard in Northern Kentucky. He is a leader that never seems to tire down. I believe he will have an amazing senior year. 2. Kellen Smith of Scott. Another true point guard with a knack for making his team better. He has really improved his jump shot and worked hard in the weight room. The best sophomore PG in Northern Kentucky. 3. Grant Pangallo of NCC. Amazing quickness. Can push the ball up and down the court with the best PG in Northern Kentucky. His jump shot is steady and improving. 4. Matt Trammell of Dixie. Play maker with great handles. Got a lot of experience at the varsity level this past season for Dixie. Part of a very good sophomore and freshman class. 5. Blake Bryan of Villa Madonna. I believe his stats are VERY inflated because of the competition level that he faces playing at Villa Madonna. But he is amazingly quick, sees the floor very well and can score with any point guard in Northern Kentucky. 6. Cody Chambers of Simon Kenton. Started varsity as a freshman. Amazing ball skills with a deadly jump shot. He is going to be one of the more exciting players to watch in Northern Kentucky over the next couple of seasons. Next year he will be #2 only to Kellen Smith. I did not include Ricardo Johnson because I feel he is more of a shooting guard. If he was a point guard he would be #1 on the list. If you extended Northern Kentucky to include Mason County Jordan Gilbert would easily make the list.
  22. I was very suprised to see how easily the Shining Star team handled the Players this weekend. Were the Players at full strength? Shining Star won the 17u and 15u brackets at the AAU Super Regional in Cincinnati. Who won the 16u?? Congrats to Coach Davis for a huge tournament win in Nashville!!
