HS age AAU this weekend

Featured Replies

What HS age teams are playing this weekend? Where?

I know some of the DSAS teams are in Nashville for the String Music Tourney(I kinda like that name).

Some of the DSAS/Truth teams are playing in Cincinnati for the AAU Super Regionals.

Any others?

What age group is that?

17 U.

I noticed that S.S Bundy is in that tourney as well, with players from Scott, Brossart.

You can add Shinning Star Jackson to list

I was talking to Robbie Stenzel today and we too were laughing about the name of the AAu tourney. He will be playing in this one.

Derek Smith All-stars 17U West team is playing in the AAU Regional Qualifier in Cinci this weekend. This team won the Club Ohio Tourney of Champions last week by beating Club Ohio and the Queen City Prophets.

You know I support this team.... Good luck this weekend. Keep us posted.:thumb:

The following KY players are also there:

Cincinnati Shining Stars White - Trevor Wellbrock (Covington Catholic)

Cincinnati Shining Stars Blue - Donovan Johnson (Shelby County), Ryan Popp (Boone County)

Anybody able to report any scores or updates on local players?

17U AAU Super Regionals in Cincinnati:

KY Players over Shining Stars Louisville team by about 8 in a close pool game yesterday. I think the Players probably won their pool.

Cincy Shining Stars Blue over Derek Smith/Truth (Harney) (former Team Kentucky)? 75-69 Believe Shining Stars Blue won this pool.

Quarters probably have Louisville Shining Stars vs. Cincy Shining Start Blue this morning.

Cincy Shining Stars Black and KY Players are also probably into the quarters as pool winners. I don't know if the Harney team made it to the quarters vs. Shining Stars Black.

Shining Stars Bundy lost by about 8 to Cincy Shining Stars Black in pool play. I don't know yet if the Bundy team made the quarters.

In Nashville:

Shining Stars McFarland won all three of their pool games so far.

Derek Smith/Truth 17U (Stanton) went a disapointing 1-2 this weekend in the aau super regionals in cinci. They lost to the players and Shining stars (Jackson). One bright spot was the play of Sean Samsel who shot lights out for the 3 games going a combined 22 for 29 from the 3 (75%). He hit for 22 threes in this three game stretch against very good competition. Deonte Maddox continues to shine showing his ability to go to the rack. The DDSA were dominated on the boards and seems to be a glaring weakness.

Team Kentucky was playing under the DSAS/Truth name this weekend. This was a very good game! We won three of the quarters, the second quarter was a bit of trouble as we couldn't stop #32 Davenport from Lebanon Ohio, he had 18 in the 2nd quarter, I believe all of them three's, we struggled for that quarter trying to contain him, he only had one other basket in the second half. We still had our chances to win at the end.

The last game we had last night was in a sauna, the guys were worn out after the 96-93 game Vs a very athletic team from Michigan that could shoot very well, which carried over into this morning Vs the Shining Star Black team. Mike Price always has very good teams, they were not missing anything this morning and we were not playing very well, but as stated above, our guys were so worn out from the late game last night in a very hot gym.

Nice tourney with a lot of very good teams!
