  1. Very poor design and maintenance problems led to the building being condemned. It hadn't been used since at least '05. The gym is in almost the same condition. There must have been something in the water of the engineers who designed those two buildings. Who would design a roof with 45 degree angles on it, and no direct runoff?? With all due respect the buildings were constructed in the psychedelic era.:sssh:
  2. Geographcially speaking, Belfry is at a disadvantage in the aspect of scheduling. Lots of teams would play us, and would benefit from the experience & the gate because Belfry travels well. But hardly anyone in the state will sign a home-and-home with us because of the travel to Belfry. I think someone said it earlier, but I'd love to play the kind of schedule Central has even if we had the same record. That can only make you better if you go out there and put it on the line every Friday. If this year's Belfry team played the same schedule, we'd probably be 10-4 at worst & hopefully 11-3. I'm saying that because we did beat Johnson Central, and with an optimistic view that we could have pulled off at least one other win. But it wouldn't surprise me any if Belfry hand an identical record playing Central's schedule.
  3. I sure didn't know that...thanks for the info.
  4. That's exactly what I was going to say. Here is a picture before the grass started to grow in the right places.
  5. 1A - LCA, but I think Beechwood will win. 2A - NCC, I like their style of play and coach. 3A - Belfry, because its Belfry. 4A - Lone Oak, only because they have to be the supreme underdog. 5A - Bowling Green, much respect for the program & they're due. 6A - I think this is my year to root for Trinity, on even years I root for X.
  6. That really is kind of funny, and when the game is over I hope Central will be wondering why all of those 5 flat 40s are in the endzone so much.
  7. Lone Oak's Corey Robinson has been amazing, to be honest, they have been flat out phenomenal. But I've never seen him play, and have no idea about the competition so I really don't know what to make of it. He may very well be the best player in the state, but then he may be a product of a friendly system, too. It's hard to argue with Stein's numbers, and who they've came against. Impressive for anyone wearing a Shamrock jersey. Dustin May is the best all-around football player I've seen, and that includes Cole, Daniel Harmon, Shawn Grimm, Clint Cashen, and many other EKY players. But going by the history of this award, and the AMAZING number Robinson has put up he had earned it, imo.
  8. CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! CANNOT compare game scores of common opponents! Here's why...Johnson Central defeated Louisville Central 48-29 @ Johnson Co. During week 10 Highlands trailed Louisville Central 13-0 in the 4th quarter before rallying for a 21-13 win. Lincoln Co. defeated Johnson Central 43-22 in the regional finals. Last night Highlands led Lincoln Co. 49-0 at halftime before going on to win 49-21. Starters rested the whole 2nd half. Compare common opponents if you wish, but what conclusion can you make of that?
  9. They've had that particular game for quite some time.
  10. I was at both games and Somerset was nowhere near as good as Breathitt. Belfry played a with a little more emotion, had ZERO TDs called back, and cause a few turnovers. With all due respect, Somerset isn't physical enough to beat Breathitt Co., nor do they have as much skill in as many places.
  11. I believe I brought that to the attention of the fans at home.
  12. I've been saying that for what seems like forever.:irked: And this may be nitpicking but the phrase "Another Pirate Touchdown!!!" belongs to one person only, and may he rest in peace.
  13. I was just ribbing him, I posted on it earlier in the prediction thread that I wasn't sure what he meant, but I had a good idea. I actually agreed with him about our offense being "nothing special" in terms of the "wow factor"...I think that is how I worded the phrase. He and I are actually talk quite a bit on here due to our common love for MMA. 5wide is a great guy and an intelligent member of BGP. Nothing but love for him, especially since I'm a little ecstatic tonight about the Pirates playing in another title game. On that note...."How 'bout those Pirates!"
  14. Keep an eye on the voting from pollsters who have seen both play and/or know a little about both programs. As a fan, I can't really give insight to the matchup, but I already voted for the Pirates because, well, in a state title game I don't have the heart to go another way.
  15. COY perhaps??? Impressive win for anybody, let alone a team that well-known for football.
  16. I'm not looking to draw a Capt. Obvious sign here, but the 6 class system was implemented to help out the gripes of those against the private school system. Nothing in the biggest class changed and I'm glad. Not that I am a big fan of the private school advantages, but while trying to be the optimist I think Trinity and St. X's domination of the big schools is a positive in KY High School football. They're playing at a level that I know is unattainable to some smaller schools, but there are many schools that will benefit greatly from "striving to be up to par". Why complain about how good they are when you can work to get better. Trinity and St. X are a motivational tool to all football teams in KY, imo.
  17. Heart-breaking way to end what sounded like a great game. Side-note...CR, your avatar is priceless. If that has been there a while I can't believe its the first time I've noticed it. And if you just pulled it out of the hat, great timing!
  18. In a rush I forgot to add a public poll. If a moderator would be willing to help, I'd appreciate it.
  19. Does anything change in KY's largest class??? What is the status of Finch??
  20. Sounded like a thriller to the end.
  21. Where is that 5wide guy anyway? I misunderstood what he and FBALL were saying, but the O does look pretty good to me.
  22. They've shown the ability to hang with the big dawgs, and also to not shown up at all. With a State Title on the line, my guess is if they win against Paducah they'll be ready to go all out. Here are both Central & Paducah's losses and the score: Louisville Central Week 1...Manual 20 - Central 13 Week 3...Male 38 - Central 8 Week 8...Johnson Central 48 - Louisville Central 29 Week 9...St. X 35 - Central 7 Week 10...Highlands 21 - Central 13 On the flip side of that, I can't say they've beaten a really good team. Paducah Tilghman Week 1...Christian Co. 27 - PT 20 Week 2...Graves Co. 18 - PT 15 Week 4...Ft. Campbell 23 - PT 20 Week 6...Mayfield 16 - PT 6 That's 4 losses by a combined 23 points, and 7 straight wins. Possibly 8 straight if they manage to beat Central tonight. Who knows? Heck, in all honesty, I'd drive all the way to Louisville and straight back to see us run whichever team we play off the field. Another championship is all I care about anyway. But the foe can't be overlooked.
  23. Louisville Central ain't no joke. Should be a dandy of a game.
  24. Pretty close game at the half 20-13 Belfry. 3rd quarter was total domination by the Pirates, and it took the wind out of Breathitt Co. I think fatigue set in and the Pirate o-line wore the Bobcats down opening some big holes for Dustin May, Ivan Lee, Charlie Dotson (Player of the Game), and Thomas Varney, all of whom scored at least one TD for the Pirates. Heath Varney also scored a late TD. I could be wrong, but I think Dotson had 4, May 2, Lee, T. Varney & H. Varney had one a piece. Belfry was just the better team, plain and simple. Man for man its hard to find a weakness in Belfry's first 11 on either side of the ball, and they've got a few kids on the sidelines who step in and do an excellent job when given the opportunity. This has been a season to remember and hopefully we can cap it off with a victory in Louisville on Dec. 7th. 13-2 - '03 State Champs 14-1 - '04 State Champs 15-0 - '07 State Champs?????
