Holy Cross has a very nice team this year. A ton of talent and well coached. The Bearcats need to focus on doing the little things right in this game..Execute the game plan.

Time Warner "sports channel," is what I was told. I don't have Time Warner Cable, so I don't know the channel or how readily available it is. Richard Skinner will be on the broadcast.

Tough to tell with scrimmages, but I'm sure WV had to be pleased. Looks like a difficult road ahead for Grant.

Try not to let facts get in the way of a misguided opinion, but Walton-Verona and Lloyd are not district opponents. You have a program that didn't exist and another on life support ten years ago, who have developed a competitive and meaningful rivalry over the past few years. Both get to participate in an exciting early season event with the possibility of being televised on one of the local cable channels, which I'd guess has not happened for either school. I'd say it's a neat opportunity for Lloyd and WV, and before moderators question to motives of the two, at least get your facts straight.

I think Isley also played college ball at Hanover, under legendary Coach Perry, but I could be mistaken. You have a guy with high school and college playing experience, was an assistant at the varsity level, head coach at middle school level, and is deeply invested in the community... I'd say that's a good hire for Trimble, and it is in fact your assessment that is the joke.

Reports are mid-20s to low-30s consistently this offseason. Solid for a 2A school that shares a lot of athletes with other sports. Interesting year for the Bearcats who lost most of their offensive production but return a lot up front.

Call it apathy, or whatever you like. Success does leave clues, so do 6 losses in a Bluebird Football season. I believe the process of the off season will be handled with a chip on their shoulder if nothing else.

Walton has several guys coming back with varsity experience. One of my favorites to watch, and will be arguably the best middle LB in NKY next year, is Hunter Ruber. Kid is a monster on the field.

The Birds have not lost a district game in a decade, lost their 1st (EVER) game to a 5a team this season after a run of 8 consecutive years in State Championship Games in 5a and 4a...They were definitely down this year. I believe after an unprecedented run of success some players and coaches can get a bit apathetic? Maybe they did this season in preparation, etc?....BUT, I believe this group showed great resiliency to bounce back the way they did. I wouldn't be too quick to write off the relevance of Highlands Football as a power throughout the state in all classes. This season could be the necessary suffering it takes to get back to where they want to be.

As a matter of fact, the only argument I really hear in favor is it is a "quaint stadium with a good environment." Throughout America, state championships are played at: 1. Premiere venue in the state. X Louisville and Lexington are head & shoulders more premier venues. 2. Centrally located. X - Not even the same time zone as majority of the state. Major travel inconvenience for EKY & NKY. 3. Historic venue X. The fact now there is NO guarantee for date consistency, I see no way the KHSAA can continue games at WKU and hold any credibility for serving it's overall association. For those who love, "The KHSAA is a business," argument, by definition it is an association with KY high schools. For any team, students, parents, fanbases, etc. to get home at 3-4 am or later on a Monday morning following a championship game is completely outrageous.

Talking more about their corporate sponsorships who have ties to the Western Kentucky campus. Most other state finals are played at the most central, a historic venue, or most prolific stadium in the state. The finals belong either at UK or UofL, period.

Everything about the finals under these circumstances is ridiculous. Nothing about Thursday or Sunday games is in the best interest of players or fanbases. I guess as long as Julian & crew's pockets are getting fat.

New Richmond was a Division 3 Ohio Playoff Team this season. Look test says Lloyd should win by a lot. We will see. Walton has several freshman and sophomores that play quite a bit. Takes some actual game experience for those guys to gain confidence and come together. I am sure Lloyd has improved quite a bit as well...NCC game is evidence of that.

Newport ran the opening kick back to about the 2 yard line, and scored the first 6 of the game on the next play. Walton scored 45 straight. Running clock. Tough Lloyd team next week.

Good to see Page & Richardson carrying the torch for Walton-Verona in 2A.

Jeff Barth at Walton. He has 4 freshman and 2 sophomores starting on his team. They have won 5 in a row...Lost in the last minute of the game early this season to a couple of teams including Lloyd who took New Cath to the mat this week. Looking forward to seeing how they have progressed against these teams in the playoffs.

Hate to hear about the injury. Pretty impressive season turn around for the Bearcats. Tough test Friday, good preparation for the playoffs.

I'd certainly hope the Walton faithful aren't engaging in an in-fight about which sophomore tackle is better and be really happy you have 2 very good young guys producing. Nothing breaks up teams more than the struggle within. Great win, pay attention to the task at hand, good luck Friday!

Big win for the Bearcats. LCA is a very good football team this year. The Bearcats have played hard, but fell short on a few games earlier this season. This will be good for the team heading into Districts.

Walton maybe a bit down this year, but "under achievers," is simply silly. Not even a decade into the program, I'd argue they are over achievers. Since 2010, the third year of the program, they've won at least 8 games every year, and at least 1 playoff win every season but 2011. 2010: 8-4, District Runner-up to Beechwood, won 1st playoff game, cracked 1A Top 10. 2011: 8-3, District Runner-up to Owen Co (11-1 that year) First year in 2A 2012: 10-3, District Champ, Regional Finalist, cracked 2A Top 10 2013: 9-3, District Runner-up 2014: 10-2, District Champ, cracked 2A Top 10. 2015: 0-4, time will tell by season's end. I'd say nothing is wrong with Walton-Verona football. The men need to fight through a tough start in a new schedule cycle after losing arguably their most productive senior class. Good luck Friday in Lexington and into district play!

Only saw one game so far, but looked noticeably smaller than past seasons. Gauging scores, looks like they've been in every game with the exception of Henry Co. Hopefully that means Henry was noticeably better and not players giving in. Another tough test against 4-0 Lexington Christian this week. A strong pre-district schedule should help in the weeks to come, good luck Bearcats!
