It's kind of an inside joke. I actually hate to compare any coach in the state of Kentucky to Lane Kiffin. You are right, that NL would never have beaten PC if they didn't have some talent. 5-5 is the best record NL has had since 2004, ... the last time they were in the playoffs. They were actually only a few plays away from being a #1 or #2 seed. The district was crazy with 5 of the 6 teams being at .500 or better and it came down to the last week as to where they were all seeded. As far as PC, they won the region fair and square. They got hot at the right time and had a fantastic run and I congratulate them. Back to North. They did lose quite a bit of talent, but they have several kids that I expect to really step up big this fall. Jason Williams has big potential and I think he will shine. Fugate has to improve his throwing motion, but has the ability. Wagers, Rotundi, Williams, Sulfridge & others will be RB by committee. The line should be solid with another year of Larkey's offseason workouts. They have to replace Shears (leading receiver & #2 in 5A), Wardrup (leading rusher), Baker (leading tackler), Sapcut (mr intensity), Prewitt & Yantis on the D line, Miller (strongest player on last year's team), etc. It will be interesting to see who else steps up this fall.

BTW, I know of 2 teams that have that very date open right now per the KHSAA website. 1. Brentwood, TN (and they have stated they would do a 1 year deal and will travel) 2. Male, KY I am just trying to help our neighbors to the west find a game to replace the NL game. And would be replacing it with a superior opponent since PC was going to 'hammer' NL anyway. Looks like the possibility of finding an opponent for that very week (week 0) is still out there!!! :thumb:

Who will be some of the underclassman that will step up to fill the openings from graduation for the Jags this fall? Losing Shears, Wardrup, Baker, Prewitt, Yantis, etc left some big shoes to fill. Who are some of the younger kids that the Jaguars fans expect to step up big this fall?

You are correct. They haven't been back since they nearly upset Scott Co in the first round. The Jaguars have never won a playoff game, even in 1994 when they were a #1 seed having won their district that season. However, the biggest problem they had was even in those good years, they always faced either a Scott County, Henry Clay, etc in the first round of the playoffs as a 4A team with 4 classes. They have not made the playoffs since the KHSAA went to 6 classes and they became a 5A team. I honestly see this changing and NL getting their first playoff win in the next few seasons.

I am done on this thread. Maybe when the PC thread is opened, they can just take all their shots at NL on there and work thru their issues. This is getting old.

I wonder if some of you will ever allow this thread to be about what NL can do to improve in 2010, or do we have to keep rehashing the same old stories? Will the PC faithful continue to take shots at NL and Coach Larkey in their own thread, or do they just want to keep hijacking this one? Take a deep breath, look at your regional championship trophy and smile. Now, back to North Laurel please.

North Laurel middle school. And they have a very solid program under Dusty Carloftis. East Bernstadt Independent is also in the NL district, but they do not have football.

Because to Pulaski fans, Coach Chris Larkey has become what Lane Kiffin was to UK fans, .... the person they love to hate! The difference is that he ain't leaving anytime soon.

NL will pick up either another 5A or a 6A team to fill this opening IMHO. PC needs to enjoy their first district and region titles and not dwell so much on this one game.

North has a very improved team. But on this night, the Lady Hounds just outplayed them.

The planning to put on a nice banquet takes time. I know that South Laurel just had theirs today (1-23-10). By scheduling it now, they have time to have all the plaques/awards (all state, etc), highlight video (and HHS has a very good and complete highlight video), working a time that doesn't interfere with other sports the student athletes may be playing, etc. I would rather see them take their time and plan it out right then rush it just to get it over.

I think he is pretty happy with the direction he is starting to get the Garrard program going and I don't think he even applied for the job. He really seems to like the community in Lancaster and seems set on building a solid program there. I agree that he would be a great candidate, but don't believe he is would be interested at this time. Just my impression from what I have heard.

Hines wasn't even given an interview? Wow. He has done a great job at PC over the years and they play an exciting brand of football. Give him the athletes that MC has year after year and they could be a contender in their region. I can't believe that he applied and wasn't interviewed. That says a lot to me.

Has a TON of ability. Just has to learn to harness it. I think he is actually bigger than 6'1", or maybe it is just that I am not very tall and everyone seems taller to me!

Not sure on all of them, but there are a few I know of from this past season. Arthur Carter - Head Coach (was assistant at Bell Co before moving to Jackson Co) Edwin Allen - Defensive coordinator (was assistant at Southwestern & North Laurel before moving to Jackson Co) David Abbott - assistant (was head coach and def coord at North Laurel before going to assist Jackson Co)

I think so but am not sure. A school board member told me that they hoped to have the new school completed by December 2011 and ready to start classes in January, 2012 if all goes as planned.

I think they will finish stronger in 2010 than in 2009. A full year under Larkey and his staff, plus the offseason workouts will help them take another step or two forward this coming season. I was impressed with how the offense improved, but the bigger improvement came on the defensive side of the ball against a tougher schedule than the season before. They improved their defensive scoring by over 10 ppg from 2008.

I cannot say for sure, but I believe it is possibly a 6A team. I hope to find out for sure in the very near future but won't say until I have received official word on the matter. Like I said before, I have mixed emotions on this matter. I understand that sometimes these things happen but thought the game to open this past season was one of the better season opening games I have seen in quite some time. Momentum shifting back and forth, game not over until the final horn sounds, lead changes, big plays, great support for both teams, ... in short, it was fun to watch. I agree that a little rivalry does make it more interesting, but when representatives of the schools (not the kids) are making public and private negative comments about the other, ... it's not a bad time to let the dust settle and for everyone cool their heels a little bit. I think the kids all handled it just fine. PC will be fine, ... NL will be fine. Like 3wishes said, both coaches and adminstrations have to do what is best for their kids.
