Jackson County 2010

Featured Replies

What does Jackson County need to do to improve in 2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Get stronger, improve numbers and stay competitive I hear their attendance is usually pretty high at their home games.

Coach Carter will have them in the weightroom and I suspect there will be considerably more push in the hind ends of their linemen and skill guys this year when they run their Wishbone attack at people. Expect them to get better.

I think Coach Carter is doing a good job. What the Generals need is more time to get in the weightroom work and have more kids to learn the fundamentals of the game. They just started little league this past fall and a middle school program in the past few years. It will take a few years for those kids to filter into the program. Then you will see some big leaps forward for the program. With a new program and up until recently, no feeder program, it takes time. But I thought with a tougher schedule, Jackson County did improve this past season under Carter and they will continue to do so.

I saw them twice and what impressed me the most is that they don't quit. That will be crucial to their growth as a program.

A year of being in the weightroom and Coach Carter getting things established they will be much improved.

I spoke with Coach the other day and he was excited about the amount of kids that are freshman and soph.'s that have already started lifting with the team. Numbers breads competition and competition always equals more success especially if the kids have enough fight in them to always strive forward. Theres going to be some nice improvements in the kids next year just from simply being in the weightroom since Oct.

I think so but am not sure. A school board member told me that they hoped to have the new school completed by December 2011 and ready to start classes in January, 2012 if all goes as planned.

Not sure on all of them, but there are a few I know of from this past season.

Arthur Carter - Head Coach (was assistant at Bell Co before moving to Jackson Co)

Edwin Allen - Defensive coordinator (was assistant at Southwestern & North Laurel before moving to Jackson Co)

David Abbott - assistant (was head coach and def coord at North Laurel before going to assist Jackson Co)

Must have been a few years ago. I think a Shear or something like that.
