This is from the Richmond Register:

RICHMOND — Several sources have confirmed that Bert Browne has accepted the position as head football coach at Madison Central.

An official announcement is expected from the school on Friday morning.

Browne played at Central in the late 80s and later went on to play college football at Tennessee Tech. Last year, he guided Perry County Central to a 7-5 record and an appearance in the Class 5A Playoffs.

Browne had been the coach at Perry County Central for the past four seasons, during which time he had a 20-24 record, including an 0-3 postseason record.

Its not so much they wanted to hire Bert Browne, they can hire who ever they feel is the best candidate. But to go out of the way to get rid of the other main candidates so the hiring committee can only see 4 or 5 guys they will never hire to make it easier for Bert Browne is sad.

It's how 90% of the school systems work. No matter where you go people try to help their friends out. Their friends may or may not be the best candidate but they feel comfortable with hiring them. Best of luck to MC and coach Browne.

I agree. I just don't understand it. :idunno:

Who is Bert Browne? Madison Central seems like it would be a great job because of population and location. Why can't they win there consistantly? They've had good teams in the past.

They have won consistently. If memory serves correctly last season was the first loosing season Kenny Turner had at Madison Central.
