  1. Sounds like the cats are playing some good basketball. I guess I need to get to a game. :walk:
  2. This will be a great opportunity for alot of kids that normally go NCC to get more playing time. It seems llike NCC numbers are getting bigger and bigger each season. There's a lot of kids sitting the side lines with talent and now maybe they can show off that talent. :ylsuper:
  3. Finally got a chance to take in a Newport game. They looked like they came to play as a team tonight. Great job Wildcats and COach Russell -- whatever you're doing keep it up -- good job. :dancingpa
  4. Seems like we know where the toughest places are to play a good game of basketball now let's figure out who has the best place to play. For example, whose gym may actually feel like home to some away teams. Who has the best facilities overall. :jump:
  5. Any key positions from the freshmen class? I heard that Newport had a really good freshmen team this year.
  6. Bob will be on the hill for a long time. Bob was there when I played high school football and I didn't even play there. I did have an opportunity to meet Bob and he's a first class act.
  7. I agree with you -- Hesch will be outstanding as long as Newport is able to fill those spots. Who did you think will stand up and fill those spots? I figure along of the juniors from this past season will have to step up and play both ways.
  8. I apologize I just got caught up in the fact that NCCBreds was not giving the Runion kid the credit he deserves. I know that Diehl and Wllison are QB's and very good at their positions. I guess like I said before just bothers me I've had an opportunity to watch Runion and then someone doesn't give him the credit he deserves. Has they used to say in a pick me up game -- my bad. :thumb:
  9. In all reality you don't have to be a giant to play this game. I've seen alot of small linemen put a larger opponent on the ground. I personally think that if a athelete knows his/her techniques and know how to use them, then they would have the upper hand. If I remember correctly Newport back in the early 80's had two guards that were about 5' 6" and wieght less than 150 pounds. Those two guys would just pound you and pound you again. Remeber, the small guys play with a lot of heart too. :thumb:
  10. Hey Big Daddy I know the Runion kid is a talented player. I agree with you 100 percent just ask any defensive lineman about him. He's big, physical, and smart. :ylsuper:
  11. I think this is going to be LexCath year. They went to Highland's backyard and needless say out played them. The cannon was silent, the cheers were few and when it was over -- LexCath stood on the Ave. of Champions and made their claim to the Regional title.
  12. Hey NCCBreds the Runion kid is a talented linemen and so is Diehl and Ellison. Do you think it is right for you to be putting this kid down? Sure NewCath is still in the playoffs but it takes a team to get there not just two linemen. Newport had a good offensive line and got further in the playoffs than anyone expected. Runion was a big part of that line and sure he doesn't make the entire line by himself and neither does Diehl and Ellison. They all got help up there. It's bad enough that linemen usually don't much credit in the papers after a Friday night game and the QB's, RB's and WR's get most of the press. Give them so credit NCCBreds! One question for you (NCCBreds) was you a linemen? :walk:
  13. This will be a close game. I can't see how anyone can say the either team is going to run away with it. Both teams will be tested to their fullest. Maybe the Newport Stadium will have the opportunity of producing it's second greatest game of the state playoffs of this year. :walk:
  14. Thank you Jug Head for your comments and I agree with you completely. This was an excellent group of young men. Nothing but heart, soul, and pride with that group. Overall, a first class act! :dancingpa
  15. Where's the post -- come on you Newport fans give these young men some praise. It was a fun ride from the start to the end.
  16. Russell is a football town and so is Belfry but I'd have to give this to Belfry by at least 1 TD. GO PIRATES!
  17. Rankings mean nothing during the playoffs. The team that wins is the team that usually wants it more. The only games were that may not matter is a game in overtime then I'd have to say that both wanted it but one just falls short.
  18. A - NewCath AA - Belfry AAA - LexCath AAAA - Henry Clay That's my picks. :walk:
  19. I agree with you -- NewCath students deserve their own field. You would think with all the success they have had with their program they would have gotten a nice facility. In fact the baseball team has a nice facility in Silver Grove KY and I heard that the land was either sold to them for a dollar and/or donated to them. Their alumni made it possible for them by doing all the work to the complex themselves. Maybe it's time for the football alumni to step up and finally give the Breds (Football Players) their own field. Wouldn't it have been great for their coach to have broke the record for most wins by a coach. (That was the record -- right?) :dancingpa
  20. From what I understand Newport field is free for them to use and it would cost them to use either Beechwood or Highlands fields. Newport and NewCath have played there for years. Usually if Newport has a home game and NewCath has a home game same Friday -- then NewCath would play on a Saturday.
  21. James Thomas is a good receiver. This was his first year from what i gathered. Just imagine if he would have played as freshmen to now. LOOK OUT! That's all you could have replied.
  22. nkyfball08 -- I agree with you 100 percent. Those boys (young men) gave us a great season. They say that football builds character and from what I've witnessed their coaches taught them well. Good luck in the future seniors. :ylsuper: :dancingpa
  23. I had the opportunity to watch a lot of Newport's games this season and I can tell you without a doubt that Thomas kid should have started his football career sooner. Could you imagine what this kid could have been with four years of football? Awesome!
  24. Sandman you're a first class act -- great speech. Good luck Dixie seniors with your futures.
