Overall it was a great game. Consider the heavy rain at times and two good teams going head to head. I think both teams played hard to the very end. Give them both credit.
I heard Newport has some big boys up front on the O-line. I hope these guys can step up to the challege and make something happen. Who's coaching them this year? I know their numbers have been up this year and last year.
Whats your opinion? IMO -- I think the first week is unnessary -- I mean it should be between the first and second place in the district. Are there any facts to show that a third or fourth place team has done anything with this structure? Please enlighten me.
Seen him play quite abit and he needs to work on his development but from what I've been told he doesn't work as hard as he should. Who knows maybe he'll mature and realize it's not given to you -- you have to work hard.
It seems like more and more schools are using their middle school atheletes in all their sports. Wrestling is a great opportunity for kids that don't play basketball to keep in shape for football and other sports.
I agree he's not that good to receive this much talk about him. But Newport does have another good freshmen class in basketball this year. The Tucker kid is good and there's a few more in that group. Perhaps when this group and the group before them are juniors and seniors Newport could have a run of it all.
I tried to watch their practice today (Newport) they looked alot better than a few weeks ago. Their QB looked like he was throwing the ball better and their O-line is huge. Hope they can pull it out and I think the last time Newport Freshmen won a championship was back in 1992.
