Newport's defense appears to be starting to struggle. I was told that the Spencer County QB was picking them apart. Maybe SC just wanted it more.

I agree with you 100 percent -- there's no way that any coach will ever please everyone. Maybe this person that wrote this hate mail needs to study the terms teamwork and character.:thumb:

Northern KY is not soft -- some of the best football is played in this area. Northern KY has a lot of history involving their football programs.:fight:

I couldn't agree with you more. But all i'm saying is that if your school has that resource than why not! Besides private schools had to start at the bottom at one point too. Basically, develop a good program (no matter what school -- a private or public) and the talent will come.

Meaning that NewCath has the resourses to extend their district by being a private school. Therefore don't condemn HC for being able to do the same.

Maybe the hill shouldn't condemn other schools for extending their districts.

I think this game will come down to who has the ball last. Newport's offense line will need to produce to open some eyes. Wilfong will make a big difference in the backfield as long as he is 100 percent. Hesch needs more time to throw the ball to Oden so the o-line will need to step it up. Defense has been managing to keep them in the game but they can't do it all. This game will be too close to call.

Newport 36 to 6

Newport played zero sophomores in the freshman game. Coach Schlarman and the new Frosh (A. Piccirillo) head coach does not allow it. Anyone can call him (PIC) to inspect his roster if they wish to support their opinion and put a name behind the claim!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that helmet was awesome i would like to see it make a come back.

Not really sure all this one -- Newport and NewCath no matter what the sport always play tough against one another. If Newport can keep their bats swinging then it should be Newport all the way.

I'd like to see the feeder programs to local high schools become more involved with their local schools. I think that if the feeder programs were to be more proactive toward their local high schools -- you'd see your local schools improving each season. Unfortunatly I have a daughter and she wasn't much into sports so I don't have a lot of knowledge of the feeder programs that are out there. I played in one and I can say that at that time it was a good program.

I'm not sure if I follow what you are referring to HD. Are schools letting kids from the surrounding areas use their facilities for other purposes? I'm not sure who would have the right answer to that question. Maybe someone could let us both know what is right or wrong.

My sourses tell me that there was not 57 kids that came out for the team. There was maybe around 42 kids that came out for the team and several of them couldn't play because of grades and other problems. Also alot of them quit coming to the tryouts. Basically, HD, it would be nice to see the Cats have a freshmen team but if the numbers aren't there then it's not going to happen. I agree with HD that you need feeder programs but you also need a feeder program that has kids that will be in that areas school district. Am I right or wrong on this?

Should be a good game but I gave the edge to Highlands. NewCath has talent but it's hard to keep winning playing the same five throughout the entire game. That's generally the down fall of alot of coaches -- they don't use their bench players. After all they made the team for some reason or other -- use them. :dancingpa
