Armchair Coach

My point was that the head coach probably has not been with the team for 3-4 days before a big game.I'm sure that the assistants have been running practice but what team wouldn't want the head man at practice.

One thing that should be noted is the Coach Mays of Elliott has been tied up with the all A(16th region representative) all week.This could hurt the prep time that Elliott has for Ashland.

Great win by Scott County-It is my understanding that Scott Co plays a pretty good West Jessamine(14-6) team tonight.I just wonder how prepared(physically/mentally) they will be for that game.

Stenzel didn't start but looked very smooth while he was in-What a future.

Hatton started-and played well.Knowles is one of the best players I have seen in person this year.Not only did he hit 7 threes but he had several outstanding passes.

No JV game tonight so Clark will have plenty of time.

Cameron Hall,John Gehringer(Fairview),Coleman(Ashland),Mayhew(Boyd) and the Wrights(Greenup).

Although I'm obviously not A GCHS fan it needs to be remembered that a vital cog(Middleton) has been missing the past two games.I believe he is the second leading scorer and any team would be "hurting" without a main component.

GottaRebound-I generally agree with you but I think the Ironton loss will only serve to refocus Russell.I look for a very solid effort by Russell against Greenup Co. Friday night. Just a side note-Ironton which is not having that great of a year has beaten(double figures) what are arguably the two best teams in the region(Ashland/Russell).Does this say anything about the 16th region?

Man you really like to dog Barker.I mean two separate threads where you rant and carry on.Whats the matter-did you have trouble guarding him at the Y one day?Why don't you pm me and let me know what the problem is.Better yet why don't you just tell him what he needs to do.I'm sure he would appreciate any help you could provide.Tonight was just an average game for him 18 points/5 assists.He is the only starter back from last years team and has done a good job leading them.There was very little in varsity experience coming back other than him.These youngsters(Hall and Collins in particular) have developed a great deal and next season they should be prime time players but right now it helps to have Sr. leadership.As far as stopping him he is usually the focus of the other teams defense.You like Wolfenbarker(Who I like also) some people like Barker-get over it!

Pgfromky- Give some credit to Elliott.They handled Greenup with ease and this is with the big 3( the 2 Faulkners and Ferguson) only getting about 40 points total which is significantly below what they normally get.It seems as though you make excuses for Greenup when they lose while constantly talking about how Wolfenbarker is a great player(and I agree he is a nice player).The most important thing that hurt Greenup Saturday night was the absence of Middleton.But lets get one thing straight Greenup started 5 seniors(4 very experienced) against 5 sophomores so they at least in theory have been ready.Also please someone get Mitchell Brown the ball.

Boyd County.

This is not unusual.Most teams in the region have a hold back or someone who is"old" for their grade.Both will be eligible for their Sr. year.It was my understanding that Jackson is in the "correct" grade.

I knew there would be complaints about the score.A few facts-10 people scored for Hart Co. ranging from a low of 5 points to a high of 18.Six girls scored in double figures.The scoring was pretty well distributed so obviously no one person was left in and/or desiginated to score a"ton" of points.On the other hand the halftime score was "only" 43-7 which means the second half was 69-4 including 37-2 in the last quarter.I would like to get the thoughts of someone who was actually at the game.

I knew you were a little "off" when I saw your top 5 players but this Thread explains some things.Russell has been beaten-ask Boyd.Rowan just beat Greenup and Greenup has yet to prove themselves in the region,although they did have a nice win vs. Boyd.

According to the radio Wilcox had 15 points,6 rebounds and 4 assists.Played a very solid game.
