Pikeville is no pushover. They only have nine wins and play a lot of freshmen and sophomores but If anyone overlooks them they will go home with a big "L"!!!!

Nice win for the Panthers! Two big wins this weekend!! Did anyone see the game? Sounded like the Pikeville defense really gave Phelps fits. I am not surprised that Pikeville keeps improving so much but I am really surprised that their defense is the main reason. Bart Williams and Todd May were both offensive machines and Lee Jones could really shoot it too, it is just strange that they are getting their team to play such good defense and they aren't very good offensively! Well, anyway, they sure are getting it done. I am impressed at them by holding East Ridge to 42 and Phelps to 35! Nice job!!!

That is a pretty bold statement!! You seem to have much more confidence in the Valley than their players and fans do!!!

Not sure what you are saying? But, I do know if Pikeville could shock the Valley Tuesday night then they are the #1 seed and would meet David in the District, which is a lock to get them into the region. Wouldn't that be a great story if Pikeville were to get in when no one gave them a prayer to get out of the 59th.

I think each team shot around 15. Pikeville could have iced the game with about 2 minutes to go but missed 3 straight bonus FT's. Sounded like it was a pretty evenly called game. WYMT said it was the first ever win at Lick Creek for Pikeville, Wow, great win!!

Maybe JC can scrimmage Pikeville around 6am. The Panthers have been working out before school for the past week, but like JC the rest of their schedule is very tough! Good luck to both teams the rest of the way, hope the early workouts pay off!!

Two good hard-fought road wins for the Rams this weekend. Nice comeback at Pikeville and another tough win at Greenup.

I think Stepp could play D-1 after 2 more seasons of growing and maturing.....if they can ever pull him a way from Pippa Passes. The Stepp Brothers have built that place and they might just keep him home at ALC.

Maybe the dumbest question ever on BGP...... District tourney time is the most exciting time in any young basketball players life!!!!!!!!

May from SC has let himself get too bad out of shape to play at the D-1 level and his team has not played up to expectations. The Maynard kid from Belfry is too little and is getting a bad reputation around the region as to having a bad attitude. Brad Lowe is having a great season and is a very good player but D-1 might be a stretch. He needs let himself go and act like he enjoys the game more. Honestly, I don't see any of the upperclassman playing at the D-1 level. MCCarty from JC might have an outside shot next year if he can stay healthy, I know his dad could play. Landon Slone and the other Paintsville young kids have a good chance. Also the Adams kid, a 6'8 freshmen at Pikeville will get some looks especially if he gets as tall as his dad at around 6'11. Also, another freshmen at Pikeville, Clevenger, might have a shot someday, if he grows and gets a lot stronger. The young kids at SV are nice players as well.

I hate to tell all the 57th faithful...but the 15th is wide open. South Floyd and Pike Central (with Lowe) might just be #1 and #2 right now. The 57th has not done much lately!!!!!!!

Yes, the refs were horrible, but they were consistantly bad both ways. Like you said, the game was just scheduled Thursday and the refs came from the bottom of the barrel. Not a good game from any standpoint except for both teams getting a game to prevent a long layoff. Both Raceland and Pikeville will be dangerous in March!

Officiating is a thankless job....but....it has gotten pretty bad, especially in the 15th. I think the schools are going to have to agree to fork out more money so that we can attract the good officials again. The offiiating in the 15th has went down hill since we lost some of the better officials. Jerry Hurley, Dale Conn, Ancie Casey, Sherman Combs, Keith Hall, Brent Rose, just to name a few. All of those were honest, hard-working officials. Since those guys have quit it has slowly gotten worse. I say raise the $$$$ and get the good ones back. If you mix those guys in with some of these guys, then the whole region would be much better from top to bottom!!

What is even more unbelievable is how that Pikeville led Raceland the whole game until the last second shot. The Panthers were playing without two starters! Not having their point guard must have killed them. They aren't very talented at full strength, let alone with a depleted line-up. I am surprised an 11-win team like Raceland didn't win this one handedly! If Pikeville ever learns how to hold a lead down the stretch, they will be very dangerous.

Lets not get too excited about the Tigers. Yes, they are in the finals but they have gotten there by beating Piarist (horrible) and Allen Central (3-14)!!!

This is a big win for Lawrence, but JC will bounce back. Every team in the 15th has been through down spells like this. The 15th is really up for grabs, March will be fun and JC will be right in the middle of it!!!

P-burg has some quality wins and has to be one of the favorites in the 15th at this point. JC now joins the rest of the 15th with one of those games that makes you go hmmmm!!! The only thing consistent in the 15th is that everyone is inconsistent!!!

Glad to see the young Bobcats start to put it together. Coach Hall will have them dangerous by tourney time!
