That is the situation that I am facing. I enrolled my son early due to the fact that my wife and I both work and my parents kept my son until he was in school. I did not want them to alter their life to be babysitters (however, with the passing of my dad I wish my son had that extra year with him). Now, my son was 10 years old when he started in the sixth grade. We are going to hold him back to allow for the extra year of maturity. Parents know their kids better than others. Some kids that are my sons age would be mature enough to handle middle school. That is not the situation with my son. Also, a side note, is that my son does participate in sports and is only an average player. He will help his team next year but will not be an impact player. The bottom line is that even if a rule was passed to make him ineligible, he would stay back because academics are more important than sports.

I was told at a coaches clinic yesterday by Johnson Central coach Shawn Hall that Matt Fyffe has verbally committed to Eastern Kentucky.

Excellent post. Sometimes, a coach cannot overcome the internal problems that a team may have. People need to realize how young Central is. I really like the way that Robert Smith (Freshman) plays. He will only get better.

Congratulations to Coach Matney. I am so proud of the job that he and his staff have done and the way that these young men have advanced. The ones that were seniors this season were the same ones that were freshmen the year before Matney arrived. We know the difference that has occured in three short years. As important as the win-loss record is the way that I have seen Matney treat the kids. Anyone that has been around Coach will know that he is a class act. The thing that impressed me about him when I first met him is how the people from Martin County acted when they were around him. He still commands their respect even after he left Sheldon Clark for the Johnson Central job. I am looking forward to the day that my son will play at the high school level for Coach Matney and the Golden Eagles.

Way to go Eagles. Excellent coached game by Coach Starns. The substitution rotation and the defensive adjustments were great. Great team effort by everyone. Not very often that a visiting coach come into Paintsville and matches BMR coaching move for coaching move. I remember several post when Coach Starns was hired that said he would probably go 3 years without beating Paintsville. This is Kentucky high school basketball where on any given night anyone can win. :dancingpa :dancingpa Not being critical of the officals but I know that one was Wallin and the other was Walker? Could someone tell me who the third official was?

Seems like teams have a problem with Central's aggressive full court style of play. Two games in a row where situations have occured. First, Boyd County players lose their cool at the end of the game and get technicals for running their mouth and for coming off the bench. Now a player from Magoffin County cheap shots Rice during the game. I bet if local law officials would take an offender that strikes another player to jail during the game, it would change some attitudes in a heartbeat.
