Actually applications will not be accepted after Feb. 1. Everyone needs to quit arguing, the Madison Southern job is an attractive job, there are good kids there, they have a good administration, and it is one of the top paying jobs in the state. Madison Co. head coaches are taken care of. Good things are in Madison Southern's future...this I am positive about.

Anybody heard anything more about possible hires?

How about a double transfer QB (Belfry-Pikeville-Belfry) played Pikeville 1 year and was playing at Belfry the next that while living in Belfry the entire time. Southern lost first year 10-7. Belfry graduated their entire offensive and defensive line from that year. The next year they were bigger and all Seniors except none of them were on the roster from the previous year.( Go figure) Two transfer running backs from W. Virginia. That's not cheating it's called recruiting

When Carter had talent he won. 9 wins and 10 win seasons. When he didn't ,he didn't, like most coaches.He was constantly giving money to kids that needed it(food, shoes , gloves,) or giving them rides home. In his tenure at Southern they never hired him an assistant at the school( finally got got Coach Brumley a transfer in this year). He was forced to find whatever he could at the county and community level.His feeder system was a joke ( Foley middle) 5 coaches in seven years. He finally had to put one of his assistants at the middle school so they would run his stuff. The Pee Wee program does there own thing, he has offered his playbooks to them, none has accepted, one team runs Madison Centrals offense.This past year they had players failing random drug tests(2 sr's) others Sr's left school early because they were afraid they would be chosen. Three sr's were busted in the parking lot with a cooler of beer during a school day. That may be what others are referring to a lack of leadership. If Carter has a fault it is a lack of player discipline. Players showed up late or not at all and still were allowed to play. They had Saturday offensive player meetings and there was never anymore than 5 players and never more than 3 Sr's. If Southern is ever going to be a consistent winner( which it never has been) alot of things need to be changed, besides just the head coach.

You have to have seniors who have some leadership qualities about them on and OFF the field to be successful!

Yeah right only if he could get players in there. Berea won 1 game last year give Hicks the same team he wouldve won 3 and if he was there they wouldnt beat Central or Madison Southern. Coaches get too much credit sometimes and not enough other times, its all about who is wearing the jerseys. I say atleast half of the coaches in the state couldve won the state with the team he had last year.

the AD told me during football season that there is no discipline there. I bet there is more there then there ever was with Bobby Washington!!!!!!!!!!! An african american coach will be hired right it down.

The whole state, almost (86%) seeds their districts why not the 44th?? Just because Model and Berea know they cant compete BUT they want that money from the regional tourney even if they cant beat anyone in the regions but each other. They have the All A regionals so they need to seed. Southern probably wouldnt beat Catholic either BUt they did beat Berea and Model by abpout 50 and 35 respectively.

The refs in the 44th were horrible! I will bet they wont call the games next year.

If only 20 districts dont seed then what would be the big deao seed everyone? Just make them seed and leave everything else the same, make the darn regular season mean something!

Plus football gets about 90 schollys to bball's 13. You have to be a super athlete and player to get a bball scholly to a big time school.

EKU gets no district money just a rental fee from the district money. I doubt that neither gym would hold last years MS MC game which was over 3100 people in attendance, sure couldnt hold it at MS crackerbox! It does look much better though.

Last year Berea recieved over $3000 for actually being in it and MS made almost 500$ for not being in it! Yet Berea lost twice by 20 to MS and lost by 30 in the district championship game.

Well then why have an All A classic????? That was for the so called little schools to have a chance and they have it. When 80% of the state seeds it would only make sense. If a team beats another team in the college regular season by 49 I doubt they would be seeded anywhere near the team that won that particular game so that excuse dont fly. Why play reg season games against them if they dont count for anything!

Yeah thats real deserving for MS win 16 or more games Berea and Model barely win their intrasquad scrimmages and they get to go! Feel bad for the seniors at MS who have NEVER lost to either school. Lets just draw for the NCAA tourney as well who cares what you did in the regular season. And also lets just draw to see who goes to the BCS games in football, we dont want to hurt teams feelings, they must have a chance even though they dont deserve to go. And one more I like the Reds so lets give them a shot at going to the playoffs, lets flip a coin and let them and St Louis decide it by coinflip. If regular season games dont count then drop them Southern

Actually MS was up 27 on Model with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd. Berea and Model have an All A region to compete in, theres their money for a regional tourney.

Wrong!!! MS is mad because they beat Berea by 49 and will beat Model to death next week and they dont get a shot to represent themselves in the region. How about haveing some seniors who have never lost to Berea or Model yet dont get to go! When Berea and Models combined recored is like 5-34 and they get to go play Scott Co. That is unfair because Scott would have the bye while Tates Creek, so to speak would have a battle on their hands. Its not fair to MS who plays a good schedule works hard in the summers just to have their fate sealed by a freakin pill!!! I would hate to be Model next Friday.
