Well...my take on all this broom business between the schools is that it's not a sweep until the final playoff game between the two. Would it really surprise anyone if these two meet later on the playoff trail?

You may not be from Kentucky but you hit this one well! Trinity is not my school, but I would venture that the greatest Rock running back was Alan Hennessy, first team All-State in 1968.

Yes, yes and yes. The Tigers really laid some hits on the Rocks, and seemed to be the more physical team. Despite the blows, Rock receivers hung in and continued making big receptions. It is difficult, if not near impossible, to intimidate the Rocks. Nevertheless, the Tigers tried. As to Will Lawson, what a headhunter!

This morning's CJ quoted from a national high school poll (Rivals?) placing Trinity thirtysomething and X fortysomething. Trinity has gained the edge in the Litratings, but it is close. A statewide poll, also cited in this morning's CJ, has X 1st and T 2nd.

X jumped to a 20-0 lead until under 3 minutes. Trinity, passing most plays, drove and scored. On the next possession, X fumbled, and Trinity struck with a long pass to close out the scoring. Were both teams undefeated?

The National Anthem was the most thrilling I have ever heard. A display of class by everyone at the game. It was spontaneous, heartfelt, and rousing. Props to the entire crowd, but especially Manual, because I think that is where it began. The young lady had a wonderful voice, and the faulty PA was overcome by the display of grace and patriotism of the crowd. Good game Manual. Hope to meet again on the playoff trail. :thumb:

Trinity has a certain foe up next, and it is only human nature to have one eye on the big game ahead. Tenth ranked Litkenhous Ratings Eastern hooks up with two time defending state champion and second ranked Litkenhous Ratings Trinity. Despite the distraction of next week, Rocks roll in this one 36-10, and it is on to next week.

This could be an intriguing game. X has overcome a number of early season injuries and the defense seems to be at peak performance. The running game and kicking are up to standards X has come to expect. There are, however, issues that remain. The passing game has yet to assert itself, due to inaccurate throws and dropped passes. This may prove to haunt the Tigers against top flight teams like Manual (picked to win district by the CJ) and Trinity. The unbeaten, fourth ranked in the Litkenhous Ratings Rams look to unleash a powerful running game against X. Could the Tigers be peeking ahead to their engagement with second ranked Litkenhous Ratings archrival Trinity? Could they be unfocused after a steller outing against sixth ranked Litkenhous Ratings rival Male? Will a murderous schedule take a toll on the Tigers? All these factors, to some extent, will be present Friday night. I see X in a hard fought 28-17 victory. Is it the public school aspect, or is it the size of enrollment aspect. I would opt for the latter. Examples: Frosh and JV teams at Holy Cross and DeSales.

Well, I really do not wish to criticize the Rams coach. We should bear in mind, X and T fans, that our coaches have the luxury of picking and choosing from an enrollment of over 1500 boys. Manual has a student body of 1780, of which about 885 are boys. Overall, given what he has, Nichols does a good job, IMHO.

An update on Dale Lindsey, mentioned in post #4 above. His number was retired at halftime of the Western-Eastern game this past Saturday. His is one of only four numbers ever retired by WKU in football.

An improvement, a very good game, but only 1 of 7 by the 1st string passing. Still a number of drops and missed passes of open receivers. This may haunt us against Manual and Trinity. There is still much room for improvement.
