  1. Are you saying that Manual's coach made the comments directed to the Trinity players?
  2. Well, I really do not wish to criticize the Rams coach. We should bear in mind, X and T fans, that our coaches have the luxury of picking and choosing from an enrollment of over 1500 boys. Manual has a student body of 1780, of which about 885 are boys. Overall, given what he has, Nichols does a good job, IMHO.
  3. An update on Dale Lindsey, mentioned in post #4 above. His number was retired at halftime of the Western-Eastern game this past Saturday. His is one of only four numbers ever retired by WKU in football.
  4. An improvement, a very good game, but only 1 of 7 by the 1st string passing. Still a number of drops and missed passes of open receivers. This may haunt us against Manual and Trinity. There is still much room for improvement.
  5. One can always hope. After all, he was educated in HS by Xaverian Brothers.
  6. Ox, did you see this as Darth Vader visiting, or as a potential convert from the path of darkness to the path of light? :D
  7. Well, we just will not see eye on this one. I believe that his participation in the game would have an impact. I attended the season opener for the Bombers. I have seen them play without him. I believe that his absence, obviously, enhances Trinity's ability to beat the Bombers. Any time a Division I recruit at a skill position does not play in a high school game, there is an impact. If the gist of your post is that you feel the Rocks have no chance whether he plays or not, that is the nub of our disagreement. As I have posted above, through experience I have learned to never count the Rocks out in a football game. At any rate, we will know the answer within hours. Good luck Rocks.
  8. This morning's CJ indicated that Darius Ashley, X's star running back, who is being recruited by UL and a host if D1 schools, may still be out due to injury. Earlier this week it seemed that he was set to play. If he is still out, this could be a big break for the Rocks.
  9. Do Catholic schools in Ohio compete for separate titles than do publics in football? For example, are Elder and Colerain playing for the same state title?
  10. Yes, it is odd for the shoe to be on the other foot (for T or X or Male). X had a 2 game series with Moeller a couple of years ago (I am not suggesting an equivalence). IMHO it would benefit X, T and Male to regularly schedule the Cincy powers. I think Cincy St. X will be surprised at how well Trinity travels and shocked at how well they play. Good luck.
  11. So far, they are 0-3. They lost to Doss (35-37), Bullitt East (7-27) and Providence (20-36). Next up: Owen County.
  12. I adopt RP's theory in post 86. Also, in the recent past an underdog Trinity has had some success against St. X. Finally, in perusing Trinity supporters posts this year it has become apparent that the Rocks have an unusually talented team this year, and Trinity posters have often noted that their coach is unmatched. Why not pick Trinity? What say you? Some normally boisterous Rock fans have been unusually quiet on this thread. Do you care to venture a prediction in writing?
  13. I watched X in their opener and they were impressive, sans Darius Ashley. Trinity is at X for this game. X has played a far more demanding schedule. Notwithstanding these facts, and ever the contrarian, I will pick the Rocks in a nailbiter, 27-24. As I noted earlier, you underestimate Trinity at your own peril. Good luck, Rocks, make a statement for Kentucky high school football.
  14. It seems that this is a controversy with many St. X-Trinity games. :D
  15. As per this rivalry, I am expecting a good game. Male has speed (shocking ) but X also has good overall speed. X has more depth, and X should exert itself late in the game. The injury situation for both teams should be negligible. X wins 34-20.
  16. X will play the Generals, but only if Washington agrees to not play any juniors. :D
  17. From what I have seen thus far this year I would take Coach at his word. The passing game has been erratic, with a large number of poorly thrown or dropped passes. Certainly, teams can win without a passing attack. Perhaps the best high school team in the past 20 years in this part of the country, 2004 Colerain, ran the ball almost exclusively. But this X team is no Colerain . To beat Male, Manual and Trinity (X's next three opponents) X is going to have to develop more consistency passing. TKE_, you can be sure that work is proceeding apace by the Tiger's eXcellent coaching staff to rectify this deficiency.
  18. That is what I was inarticulately trying to say in my earlier post. Good win-and one with class!
  19. Welcome to BGPreps, RAMWKUALUM. I also concur with RockPride's analysis.
  20. I don't see it. HC has been drifting downward since Coach Reidinger was released. That, combined with an enrollment drop, has been problematic. A pity, really, because HC is an excellent school with a lot of good people involved.
  21. The last time the Rocks played a powerful Cincinnati team was 2002, against an Elder team that would be the eventual Ohio state champion that year. Similar statements were made. Final score: Rocks 44-Elder 20! You underestimate Trinity at your own peril.
