Lets not make The Fighting Tigers any madder then what they are.Im sure any Ironton team will be well coached in the fundementals of footballl.(IMO)The best team we have faced yet.Im sure Ironton will be the most aggressive team we have played so far or will face except maybe JC. Maybe a thread should be started on this topic.:thumb:

I thing you are right,and another place i would look at is the o-line.All of us who have played the game have wanted to play in backfield and be heros,but sometimes you have to do whats best for the team.Two guys off the top of my mind would be Nethercutt and Alber at the guards im sure their are other backs that would get after somebody and get the job done.When you can read a guard trapping from the stands leaning to trap thats not good.I always dreamed of being a fullback but i was asked by my coach to play on the line and do whats best for the team ,you have to have the best 11 on the field. :thumb: Well theirs my 2 cents it takes more then just putting a uniform on to be a football player ,its all HEART . If Tomcats don't play better mentally,physical(HITTING)football ,(IMO)Pikeville will cruise.But if Ashland plays with intense physical Tomcat football for 4 Quarters Tomcats win. :fight:

Thats really wrong to say,when the smoke clears, look and see where Matt goes to college.Matt was keyed on every play last year and still ran over 1,000 yards ( IMO)The wishbone would be the answer for this team, I have some old wishbone on dvd 71-73 very simple plus QB has the option to run every play,thier is a nice zero counter for QB to run also. BUT (IMO)The three back set will never happen at Ashland ! Matt is not a quitter !

I was at the stadium earlier the field looks great and very fast. Go Tomcats!

Im sure opening games are tough on def. coaches and should be interesting night of football.I have not got to watch the boys scrimmage ,but im sure both teams have made adj's for defensive weakness. I like the idea of the three back off. package ,this is one of the quickest total Tomcat teams i have seen in a long time,not just Matt and R. Carter but entire team.We will see if they have heart and desire to play every down with 110% effort tomorrow night.:thumb: I think this should be a very exciting game.:thumb:

I think 8:30 would be just fine in this heat.Im bitting at the bit too.

I went to meet the Cats tonight and the stadium was compleatly shadowed at about 7:30 that should help alot.:thumb: Only the Ashland band section had a little sun on it.A little breeze stiring would help.The field looks great.

That year they were down The Fighting Tigers were 10-3 reg. season and lost in regional final to Bellaire in OT.(Not to shabby.) :thumb: I hope Russell and Ironton get to play each other.:thumb:

I would like for Ashland to play a couple old tri- state rivals such as Huntington High W.V. and bring back the little red wagon which they won last,and maybe Portsmouth Ohio or Wheelersburg Ohio,of course always keep Ironton Ohio.(IMO)This kind of competiton only makes you a better football team.

I like what im seeing too Graybeard.(IMO)This team is ready to get after it .The o-line fires off the ball quick and the backs hit the hole and dig for yards, The defense unit is swarming to the football and hitting ,i kinda like the looks off the new LB core.We will see this sat.:thumb: .

JC kept the field dry for our first game (Ashlands)and it rained most of the week and we are mostly a passing team .(IMO)A wet field only benefits a passing team WRs cuts against the secondary. JC wants a dry field for the big play running attack.:thumb:

Last year Rockcastle had one of the best lines i have seen play in a long time and they are all back this year,they are big physical and strong. Last year they sure mixed the run and the pass against the Tomcats,i don't know if they can pass or not this year. Some thought the same of JC. (imo)This will be JCs toughest test yet,good luck Eagles.

Frances Rockcastle has thier whole o-line back from last year with seven returning starters on offense and seven on defense the new QB is replacing a three year starter from last year.(cat pause) The Tomcats played them last year in the playoffs ,they were a very good football team.

Congrats to JC ,now thats what i call a football game! I am very proud of the way the Tomcats got after it tonight,one day you will look back and know you gave it all in this football game.Be proud you fought like Tomcats .-----Jericho Good luck to JC playing Rockcastle.

Herb Conley coached teams from 1971-1976 produced 13 1st team all-state football players. The first all-state football player was 1920 the Tomcats have been around for a long time.:thumb: Good Luck Tomcats.

Personaly I have never liked that warm up smack,it was started in the Marsh years and carried on .In the Conley years we proved it on the field with a wishbone with a option and of course the halfbackpass works every time at the right time . Thomas is a good running back who plays both ways ,and can run the ball when the blocking is there.In the old days' if a hole wasn't there make one right in the back of the o-lineman whose not blocking . I did not see the big hit your talking about ,but from my experance any back that is HIT big time ,time after time usually will not want to run the football. JC is a very good team and will win again big time ,unless Ashland can get physical some how or another and make a game of it ,but I have not see this kind of play in a long time.I'll be there watching my girl cheer,we have some very good cheerlearders.:thumb:
