Highlands scored 23 total points...in what way is that ever "up so much early"? ...and at what point do Highlands people start looking at last year and now this game and questioning the play of their team when they get an early lead?

Half the battle in beating the Highlands and Trinity's of the world is convincing yourself you can beat them. Moral Victory for sure.

Then go argue with the St. X staff...they're the ones that put the stats in. I have no idea how those stats got to be put in that way, maybe there was a penalty on the play, who knows. But I do know, that per the KHSAA, via St. X, Walker rushed for an average of 52 yards per game as a Soph., and given that BG was probably one of the 3 best defenses he faced that year, I'm gonna go with what the St. X coaches put in as his official stats instead of the YouTube proclamations of a fan of the team.

South Oldham played one of the worst schedules in 5A last year and lost to anyone on it that had a pulse. They may be well coached and may have a nice team this year, but my point was based on the fan-fare I have heard about Collins leading into this season and my contention that when you lose what Collins lost, you better get ready for a little air to come out of that balloon. This score is what I would call a case-in-point.

He was a good player for them for two years...his Soph. year he had 7 yards against the Purples.

Really? Glasgow has a DI-A committed RB and is probably bigger than Mercer at every position. Mercer is very well coached, but so is Glasgow. Not surprising at all to me.

Welcome back to earth Collins. Life is a little different minus multiple DI-A players and a myriad of 3rd year starters.

The WR Feggins kid at Central has been a dominant player for the state's premier program and now is dominating at WC...and is the Head Coach's kid...and the coach has spent the last 20 years in college coaching...and played in the NFL...and Guy Morris is on their staff...and the kid still has ZERO offers. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that this kind of de-validates your whole "connections can get you an in" theory.

Coach Preston can coach some football. It ain't flashy, it's old school hit you in the mouth football...and when FS has played that style of football they tend to be a tough team to beat.

On a happier note, what a great night for Boone Co. I'd say looking at how they played against Cov. Cath at the beginning of the game and in this game, they're working they're way around to beginning to understand how the coaching staff wants them to play ball.

Ick...this is the kind of thing that makes these guys who are coaching for pennies get out of the business...and I know a lot of people say "good riddance" but be careful what you wish for.

But will they win the showdown with powerhouse Daviess Co. this time around?

He's too busy counting all the D1 players on his team's roster...

It has been my experience that in KY's non-traditional powerhouse programs that are maily your non-urban schools, that the football program's overall longevity of general stability of success, meaning that in the bad years you go 5-7'ish and in the good years you might go 12-2'sh, can be almost 100% attributed to two factors: 1) Kids that can run. 2) Administration To elaborate... 1) A small school like Russellville will ALWAYS be in the mix because they will always be able to run. That makes you dangerous on O and tough to score on on D. A school like Butler Co. will ALWAYS struggle with the O-Cath's and Russellville's of the world for this very same reason. regardless of the coaching, if you can't run, you're going to ALWAYS struggle to beat people that can (on a consistent basis). 2) Consistent administrative support. When it comes to the hiring, the finances, and the general expectations of the program, those Co.'s who maintain a solid pro-athletic administrative stance over stretches of 15-20 years will rise and stay around the top. Clearly, there are exceptions, but I would mark these as the generalizations of rule for KY's majority of small to medium sized school football programs. I also strongly believe that Having #1 can be sunk by a lack of #2, but a lack of #1 can be salvaged by having a strength in #2. In Greenup's case, it sounds to me like a lack of #2...and that is a sure fire killer.

Manual has a DLineman committed to WKU. None of the players you are naming other than Ryan have an offer of any kind from any school according to Rivals.com, who does list non DI-A offers. Please stop trying to compare your players, who are very good, to Manual's because you are creating a silly comparison. Lex. Cath has excellent players. Players who may in fact help them beat BG this Friday. Looking at the votes and comments, there is little doubt that a lot of people respect Lex. Cath and their players so much that they expect them to beat BG this week. Lex Cath is loaded. BUT, personnel wise, you do not have anywhere near the high-end caliber players that Manual does. End of story. the recruiting services say so. The offer lists says so. And people who have objectively watched both teams say so.

On the D1 offered kids for this coming game, let's just get our facts straight. There is only one D1 offered kid for either team and that is the Ryan kid for Lex. Cath. There are some other players on the field who may be getting interest for both teams, but only one holds an offer.

I would rank Graves higher. They are going to be a tough out in the West.

They have two DI-A offered and committed players on their D (a DE and CB)...they have two more DI-A offered players on their offense (a WR and a RB)...you may scoff at them, but personnel wise, you're going to have a hard time convincing people that they are anything but a loaded football team this year.

Boone takes this one...no giant Sequoia running all over the place for Conner.
