Didn't the current Ashland seniors beat Russell back when they were freshmen in the Kiwanis Bowl? Thats the last time the varsity beat Russell too if im not mistaken.

yes the best team won. Ashland missed several chances to score as well like McDavid's drop that would have for sure been a touchdown. He also had a drop on 3rd and 16 that if he would've caught he would still be running today. Both teams had missed oppurtunities, the better team won.

Clark had about 90some yards on 4 receptions, 50 yards on 11 carries and 2total touchdowns.

Thats true, plus Coach Haywood doesn't even know if he can make the PAT after the last one was blocked. Who blocked that PAT??

Did anyone else see Burns and Davis collide late in the game when Belfry scored in overtime. Wow, what a collison!!

How is Ashland's depth now they suffered alot of injuries tonight??

A great win for the Tomcats. I think that Junior Tyler Slone stedded up very well for the injured Bonner. Belfry played a great game, they just need to learn to hold on to the ball and their OK. Now lets go get Russell!!!

I think Sheldon Clark will surprise some people this year.

Vanhoose is a great player. Reminds me of Adam Howard a few years ago at Ashland. Him being about 4 or 5inches taller than Howard i'd say he could end up somewhere a little better than WKU which is where Howard is now.

Fields Davis at Ashland. 3 year starter and was 2nd team all state last year.

Ashland's defense played pretty solid against Raceland. Look for a low scoring game in this one.

Scott Grizzle from Raceland has to be up there. Wasn't he in the tremendous 26 preaseason list or something?

I would strongly agree with this as well. Ashland's skill positions played well last night especially the secondary and backs. The line was outplayed on both sides true but thats not why they lost. Missed assingments on special teams, having the ball inside the Raceland 25 3 times and coming away with no points, penalties, turnovers, and and the injury of one of our captains on the 3rd play from scrimmage cost Ashland in this game without a doubt. I dont think there's any question Ashland has more talent. The good thing is its week 1 and this game means nothing towards the playoffs and hopefully the cats will wake up and start cutting out the silly mistakes. Good luck to a good Raceland team this year!

The tomcat defense didnt play that bad, but when u have a punt return for a td called back, allowing a PR TD, and giving Raceland the ball inside our own 20 a few times. That didnt help the D any. Burns and McDavid really stepped up on defense imo after the loss of Bonner to the secondary.

Why didn't Ashland pass more? They had some success the few times they did. Also, does anyone think Thomas would be better used as a receiver?
