You can say that about any team...

The last small school to win was Carroll County in 1972. Carroll was runners-up in 1971, 75, 88, and 89. They beat Oldham County in the 31st District Final in 88 and 89, but the Colonels turned the tables in the Regional championship. The only other small schools to make it to the finals since then were Owen County in 1996 and Gallatin County in 2008.

I believe since 2005-06.

Who knows? Maybe things work out and they play at New Castle in about a month...

The boys Sweet 16 is first this year. So the Region should be a Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday format.

Fairly certain the semifinals and finals on the weekend this year. Look for even larger crowds, especially on Friday when there are four schools playing.

There is no 1A or Class A Tournament. It is the All A Classic. And I believe the trophy says All A Classic Statewide Champion. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Bearcats are pretty tough to beat at home. The place is usually packed and it gets loud in there. Always a great atmosphere!

Jarin Rassman goes the length of the floor after a Carroll County free throw with 5.8 seconds left gave the Panthers a 68-67 lead. Gallatin’s Troy Coomer had just tied the game at 67 by hitting 3 foul shots with 6.4 seconds remaining. The Wildcats improve to 11-3 overall and 5-0 in District play. These two will more than likely have Part 3 next Thursday in the All A semifinals in Bedford. Rassman led Gallatin with 22. Coomer added 20 and Wyatt Bowen 15. Mumphrey with 28 and Supplee 15 for the Panthers.

Anyone have a schedule for Saturday’s games? Riherd’s has them listed at 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00.

Well, Gallatin did lose to the runner-up in the King Of The Bluegrass 50-48. But I digress.

Wyatt Bowen’s three pointer as time expires in overtime gives the Wildcats the championship of the Smokey Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg.
