I believe since 2005-06.

The last small school to win was Carroll County in 1972. Carroll was runners-up in 1971, 75, 88, and 89. They beat Oldham County in the 31st District Final in 88 and 89, but the Colonels turned the tables in the Regional championship.

The only other small schools to make it to the finals since then were Owen County in 1996 and Gallatin County in 2008.

IMO, the number of titles answers your question.

I wouldn’t think that this would be unique to the 8th region.

I completely disagree, SK loses when they get intimidated by the other team. They get real hesitant with their cuts and nobody seems to want the ball.
