  1. Mike Mulville a transfer from Ohio last year played QB and LB and was conference player of the year before transferring to Cooper last year. Unfortunately he tore his hamstring before the first scrimmage last year and basically missed the whole regular season before starting to play in the playoffs. Which he was used only on defense for the playoffs since he still wasn’t fully healthy. So they would have him that could play QB if something happened to Cam. Also Coopers stud WR Isaiah Johnson was also a stud QB his whole life before switching to WR his sophomore year after he lost the QB battle to another stud QB in Cam O’Hara. So they have two other guys who start varsity at other positions that could be pretty good options to fill in at QB if O’Hara suffered an injury that takes him out longer than just a possession. Plus have Drew Hartman who was the JV QB last year that will be a Junior. Then also their QB from the freshman team last year.
  2. 🤣😂 rent free? You do realize Highlands folk are ones who brought up Cooper initially in this thread right? So I’m just commenting on how some Highlands fans are now making sarcastic comments like might as well mail the trophy to Cooper, just because some people have talked Cooper up. So just reminding you all of the fact how the game you all would be talking would be even more if situations were reversed. Like it or not in 5A in NKY going into this year, Cooper is an obstacle they have to get through and vice versa. Also you are coming at the wrong guy with this stuff. As other Highlands fans on here would say, I have said a few times that Highlands is the wild card team in 5A going into this year. They are loaded with younger talent, just depends how quickly they adjust to varsity play. Especially when the other 3 state semi-finalist from last year in Cooper, BG, and Owensboro return basically their whole teams, while Highlands lost basically all their starters from that semi final team. So it’s a little different getting through that at the varsity level, than it is dominating freshman and JV games. Not to mention you got other teams like South Warren, Southwestern, Pulaski County returns their whole team, and Scott County is always tough. So just will depend on how quickly that great young talent adjust to varsity and playing against teams that have already been doing it at the varsity level. Highlands is going to be very good, and if another top team takes them lightly then that team will be in trouble. Highlands as I have said all off season is the wild card team in 5A.
  3. To be fair, if the situation was reversed and Highlands just made state and basically return their whole team. I would say most of the Highlands faithful would be saying very similar, and not thinking a team that lost basically all their starters should be getting talked as highly as them, no matter how much younger talent that other team may have coming up. So while I don’t think he should be saying a team is scared, because that’s just silly. If the situation was reversed, can guarantee the Highlands faithful would be talking a very big game about this coming season.
  4. While I agree it is silly for him to say they are afraid of a team. Especially with all the young talent coming up for Highlands. However, bringing up a JV score is very pointless. Considering Coopers Varsity last year was JV aged kids with mostly sophomores and Junior and even one freshman starting varsity. So the JV team of Cooper that Highlands beat last year, is not the players they will be playing at the varsity level this year. Highlands JV players from last year will be going against basically the same players at Cooper that just made State last year.
  5. I don’t think they lose both and I do think they make a run in the SEV tourney. So at the end of the day I do still think they will be anywhere between a 3 and a 6. In a normal year I wouldn’t think that, but with everyone losing games in college basketball ball this year. Some of the losses that would have really dropped a team in the past, doesn’t change as much this year.
  6. Ugh well that sucked. Only good thing to take away from this is this team is starting to learn how to play at the end of tight games. They made plays tonight the last minute on both ends to put themselves in position to win. Just unfortunately the LSU player made a great pass after a getting blocked to get the game winner. This team is looking to be a team that could get up to as high as a 3 seed depending how they finish, or down to a 6 seed. I don’t think many teams will want to play UK. UK is a scary team in regards they literally could lose in the first round, or make a deep run.
  7. Congrats to coach Spencer! I am not to familiar of him. Where has he previously coached at?
  8. Which seats should be hot? I’m curious because I’m not sure which ones on this list should have their seats hot?
  9. Just in case it wasn’t obvious, I was being very sarcastic. I definitely believe Cal deserves a lot of credit. I believe Cal has developed a lot more players than people are willing to give him credit for.
  10. Nah Cal doesn’t coach anyone up. Every player than Cal has coached that made the NBA has came to him NBA ready. Even players that weren’t suppose to be one and done type players, that ended up first round picks wasn’t because of him. Possibly other coaches could get credit for doing such a thing, but Cal just recruits and doesn’t know how to make players better.
  11. Pitino is a great coach, but ouch this is a bad look IMO. This is from the NJ.com: “Do we have (edited) facilities?” he asked rhetorically. “Yes, we do. But we’re doing something about that.” He added: “But that’s not the reason we’re losing. Having (edited) facilities has nothing to do with not guarding.” His main complaint after this game and in the past has been his players’ lack of toughness and athleticism. “We are so unathletic that we can’t guard anybody without fouling,” he said. “For me, I’ve always enjoyed the first year, and I’m not gonna lie to you: This is the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime. This has been so disappointing.” https://www.nj.com/sports/2024/02/after-latest-st-johns-loss-rick-pitino-laments-shtty-facilities-lack-of-toughness-and-lost-season-due-to-recruiting.html?outputType=amp
  12. I haven’t looked, but does anyone know how Damion Collins is doing for LSU this year? I know that’s where he transferred to after leaving UK after last year.
  13. Agreed. It wasn’t this game, but I remember seeing Cal tell him one game after a missed free throw to go straight up and not be falling back on his free throw. He seems to try to shoot free throws with the same flair he does on his jump shots which come from weird tough positions at times. His missed free throw against Florida would have iced the game and would have had the Cats one game back from first in the SEC.
  14. Cal is quietly putting together a type of roster we see Self put together at Kansas with solid multi year players that get better every year like a Theiro, Ugo, and Sheppard. Even though Sheppard may not end up a multi year guy like expected when he was recruited. If Sheppard stays along with those two players, along with another two and the incoming freshman. It could be the start of a very nice run again starting with this team.
  15. Great win. Great defense and just great overall toughness displayed. Also it’s been quiet on here this season. However, it was said quite a bit by some people on here last year, that Reeves isn’t a UK level type of player. Antonio Reeves obviously deserves to be here at UK. There were numerous times last year people complained saying he shouldn’t be here, and is only a mid major type player, and shows how far we fallen getting a player from Illinois State. So I will say I am sure glad he is here at UK, and he makes a huge difference for this team.
  16. If this is a close game I think UK will win it. However, could also see this being a game where Auburn blows them out. Especially with Mitchell most likely being out.
  17. Good win. Defense was better, and just overall solid game. Hopefully Mitchell isn’t out for the season with that shoulder.
  18. Defensive tackle would very much be in play for me if I was the Bengals. They need an interior pass rush, and where they are picking they could possibly get a good one. Obviously after free agency though we will have a much better idea on what direction they may go in the draft.
  19. Same trick play the Bengals ran this year that got picked off. One of those things where a coach looks like a genius when it works, and looks like an idiot when it doesn’t lol.
  20. Honestly Cal seemed to lean into having more experience players the last few years IMO and didn’t accomplish much with it. I think he went back more to what he has had success with on this team. Which even though it’s been a struggle the last few weeks, I think this team definitely is very capable of making a run. Every year we see teams make runs that you wouldn’t think at this point. So I don’t think it’s done, because I think this team will show it’s not once the tournament starts.
  21. I don’t think they should concede to it either. However it is now February and they have seemed to have gotten worse or at least given up more points since they started having two big guys on the floor at the same time since they got healthy. Having two big guys on the floor at the same time really has not done much at all to slow the other team. Theiro at the 4 with 3 guards and any of the big guys IMO is their best lineup.
  22. Honestly I think the opposite. With his skill set, I think he would be better off with the floor more spaced with a smaller lineup. Theiro at 4 with him at the 5. He is a very good passer and spread them out and let them go. It’s not like they are stopping people anyways on defense, so him being soft doesn’t change much than what we are currently seeing.
  23. UK is currently in the 20s in the NET. They would have to almost lose out to fall far enough down in the NET to miss the tournament. Let’s not forget all teams across basketball are losing many games this year.
  24. True or honestly once Mitchell is healthy go back to what they were doing at the beginning when all the bigs were hurt. Mitchell at the 5 and Theiro at the 4.
