  1. Henry Clay's defense was good at stopping the run, but only against teams that could not pass. Look what happened to them on their home field. The key to Trinity is their balance. When you have a team that is as balanced as this team, and you have good offense minds calling the plays and mixing run and pass, it makes the best of defenses look lost......especially on the high school level. This is the reason why I do not think that Trinity will be challenged for the second week in a row. Unfortunately for those of us who would love to see a tight game, this game will not be close, in my opinion.
  2. I feel certain that Coach Beatty and staff at Trinity thought their kicker (UK recruit Ryan Tydlacka) would kick the ball in the endzone as he has consistently done all year. He came up short on a couple......one in which Jeter ran back all the way. I do not fault the coaching staff's decision on this one. Poor special teams coverage, nonetheless.
  3. My understanding is that the Duffy's demand a 24/7/365 football player. No other sports or activities are to interfere with weight training and football practice. With that type of commitment in this day and age, I am surprised they have nearly 40 players.
  4. "LSURock" is just stating his opinion as is the case for all of us posting comments on BGPreps. This has nothing to do with class. I haven't seen him post an opinion on the championship game, but I say Trinity wins by 3+ touchdowns with no disrespect intended to Ryle.
  5. I am basing my guess on the stadium having seating for 4000 and an additional 1000 around the fenced in track around the field.
  6. I have seen both teams play now, and I just don't see this game being very close. Their is a superior football team from St. Matthews left in 4A football in Kentucky. A record 17 state championships for the Rocks.
  7. I would guess about 5000+ tonight. Anyone else have a good guess?
  8. Talent, teamwork, and most importantly........discipline. That makes the Trinity program what it is! I won't say that Trinity does not have talented athletes, but I am not blown away with their talent. What blows me away is their execution! Just outstanding. A very, very well coached football team.
  9. O.K......I admit ignorance. I do not know what "ball-testing" is??????
  10. Mark Few is not interested nor is Jay Wright. We all know Billy D. would not take this job. Don't be narrow-minded enough to think every coach would crawl to Kentucky (as Eddie Sutton said he would).
  11. There are at least three of these names who would tell UK "no thanks" if asked. Of course, none of them will be asked because Tubby is going nowhere.
  12. Keith Tandy had an outstanding high school career at Christian County. He is a very competitive athlete who should have a nice career at the college level at whatever position West Virginia utilizes him.
  13. Friday's weather in Lexington is going to be delightful! The high will be 62 degrees so I would assume it will be in the middle 50's at kickoff. Perfect weather for a great matchup! Go Devils.
  14. Bell County was ahead 14-12 in the fourth quarter when Chase Minnifield and Ryan Phillippi changed positions and Chase took the direct snaps and ran for something like eight straight plays for the go ahead touchdown. Chase scored another touchdown in the last minute to seal the Henry Clay win in a muddy, hostile environment.
  15. That is a quarterback rating of 158.33 if he did not throw any interceptions.
  16. "Pride, loyalty, discipline, achievement"........these kids are being taught these basic foundations of life well at Trinity and it obviously carries over on the football field. Yes I am impressed by the boys from St. Matthews, but I still hope Henry Clay can beat the Shamrocks on Friday. They are a most formidable opponent.
  17. Aaron Boyd is 6'4" while standing on the ground. If he stands on two phone books he would probably be 6'7" or so.
  18. The stadium has seating for 4000-4500 people. Trinity fans are going to be a little disappointed in that the stands are far from the field due to the field also accomodating soccer and a 400 meter track around it. This stadium is not nearly as intimate for a football game as Trinity's is. Henry Clay is attempting to have the game played at 2pm on Friday afternoon in an attempt to have it televised live. We'll keep everyone posted.
  19. I am sure the Michigan players knew who Bo was, as would the UCLA players know who John Wooden is. I don't think the death of a previous coach or even a hall of fame coach even registers to today's players. I don't see it as any extra motivation.
  20. I thought Clark County played very well on defense. The Jones kid (#33) is a beast. Their offensive line opened some nice holes and the runners ran behind them well. I believe that at this time of year a successful team must be adept at running and throwing. Clark County needed an adequate passing game to be mixed in with their power running game. They were not able to keep Henry Clay's defense honest. Once they got behind two scores, they were unable to effectively throw the ball and stage any sort of comeback.
