Bill Curry has/had a lot of class.

If Mitch Barnhart is catching heat for bringing in former successful Oregon Head Coach, St. Louis Ram Head Coach, and Super Bowl participant Atlanta Falcon defensive coordinator Rich Brooks as UK Head Coach, what would happen if he named Randy Sanders the next UK Head Coach? Keep in mind, Randy Sanders was run out of Knoxville. I personally like him and do think he is a good quarterback coach, but your speculation is way, way off base in my opinion.

I am going to defend former UK coach Bill Curry on Mark Story's attack on him in the Rich Brooks article. Coach Curry went to TE Jimmy Haley during the week leading up to the Tennessee game and told him that he was giving him a choice. He would be the starting tight end for the ballgame, but it would cost him his redshirt. Jimmy Haley elected to give up his redshirt for the opportunity to start the final game. Coach Curry left the decision entirely to Haley and his family......not a unilateral decision by the coach as Mark Story implies. Very inaccurate, unfortunate journalism by Mark Story of the Lexington Herald.

Brandan Wright is a 6'9" very long armed, power forward. I have not seen Scotty Hopson, but he is listed at 6'5" which usually means he is not quite that tall. I fail to see comparisons in these two players at this point? Brandan Wright was a concensus top 5 player in the country. Are you saying Scotty Hopson is that good?

Scott Co. Vs. Lafayette Predictions ..
strongopenyon replied to HardcoreCard20's topic in KY Football (High School)
I know Lafayette's game with Woodford County was moved to Tates Creek's field. It was suspended for lightning and then finished at Henry Clay's field. It would be ashame for Lafayette to lose their home field advantage versus Scott County due to having a poor field to play on. I guess there are plans in a few years to renovate Lafayette's field after the Bryan Station project is completed? -

A quick, speed back like Sparks will be rendered ineffective with an ankle sprain. Too many stops and starts and cuts. -
Rating The State 10-23-06

It looks to me like except for the Fulton County and Bryan Station games, Lafayette has done very little substitution at the skilled positions. The backup running backs have run less than ten carries all year, and the backup quarterback has thrown three passes all year. I don't dispute they have not "run it up", but they have played their skilled position starters almost exclusively. -
Clay County vs. Bell County Predictions

The Bell County team I saw earlier in the year was very good against the pass. I seems Clay County lives and dies with the pass. I like Bell County to win in major fashion. -

Woodford County vs. Tates Creek

I give the edge to Woodford County. They have an experienced quarterback who can effectively throw the football. Tates Creek has an inexperienced quarterback and the Creekers have shown they have no ability to keep teams from putting 9 in the box. However, the game is at Tates Creek and the Commodores have a outstanding running back in Ty Sparks. This one is close. -
Ty Proffitt commits to Notre Dame
strongopenyon replied to STRIKE3's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Congratulations to Ty Proffitt. He has had an outstanding career at South Laurel and he will fit in well in South Bend. My sources told me a lot of schools loved his game, but were questioning how reliable an outside shooter he could be on the next level. I hope he shoots 500 threes a day to get that question mark answered. Lexington Catholic's David Graves had a nice career with the Irish and I hope Ty will as well! -

Are you saying Lafayette has that big an advantage over Scott County playing on clover and mud? That field is atrocious! -
Scott Co. Vs. Lafayette Predictions ..

The question might be: Does Scott County want to open the playoffs playing at Henry Clay, or at Lafayette for the second straight week? I think Scott County has a perfect attack to beat Lafayette (good running game and outstanding play-action passing game), but will be interested in seeing how well Lafayette plays coming off their biggest win in several decades. -

"DragonFire"......thanks for the excellent information. I searched the KHSAA site hoping to find the answer, to no avail. BGPreps is a great source of getting questions like this one answered. Thank you for being "in the know". -

You are stating the way it ought to be. This 2006 playoff system is awful. Once teams finish the regular season in their districts, they go right back into single-elimination district play. I liked last year's format much better. -
Lafayette 25 Henry Clay 13
strongopenyon replied to diggerphelps's topic in KY Football (High School)
I stand to be corrected, but I think if Scott County wins against Lafayette on Friday, they would open the playoffs hosting Lafayette. I think that would make them the #2 seed. If Scott County loses, I think they would play at Henry Clay. I am not totally sure about the three way tie breaking criteria. Anyone know the absolute answer? -

I am under the impression that if Scott County beat Lafayette next week, a coin toss would break the three way tie. I must state I am saying this without 100% certainty. -
Lafayette 25 Henry Clay 13

Lafayette dominated this game by smashing Henry Clay in the mouth. Henry Clay's six turnovers (two inside the twenty, one inside the five yard line) did not help, but they were outplayed by the Generals.
