Henry Clay 43 Scott Co. 42
Jeter is the real deal. Look for him to sign with a major D1 team. His size, athleticism and alot of quickness are to much for alot of average high school players to overcome. Good kid and student he will be playing some serious college ball.

Woodford Co. 6 P.L. Dunbar 0
Redistricting will not start until Bryan Station gets done. They lost alot of quality players from last year. They draw from the best areas of Lexington. Lexington is up this year as far as talent. Woodford just caught a team with little or no confidence at this time.

Woodford Co. 6 P.L. Dunbar 0
That will most likely be Woodfords last win of the year. They may sneak one out against Bryan Station. Henry Clay and Scott Co will destroy them on offense.

Henry Clay 53 Boyle County 10
Its just a fact at this time that Boyle Co is just not a very good football team and they may struggle alot this year on defense. From my gathering of the players they start seven sophomores on defense. It looks like they are a year away from being back to the states elite as they once was. As far as Henry Clay this district could be the strongest in the state. Henry Clay Scott Co , Lafayette and it looks like Tates Creek is back up this year.

Summer aau basketball/July
I would say that they have a lot of good stuff and there are a few I disagree with as far as rankings. I think he does a great job.

Antonio Owens ?
I do not see MMI as an option. There is no MMI at this time. From my resources there will most likely be no team next season.

Bluegrass Championship in Frankfort
I always get to at least go to one day of the KOB. I hope it keeps its appeal high.

Bluegrass Championship in Frankfort
Do you feel that this may the be the weakest KOB in some time. It looks more like the 5/3 tournament from last year.

Hazard & Jbs in semi's of AAU state
Nowhere did it say they were not quality. Some of the referees that worked the tournament at Frankfort worked over at the KBA also. Seemed to be a well run team camp at Frankfort. The e-mail I saw was the referee pay increased when it got close to the camp they were short referees. That would be normal for this time of year since there were alot of things going on. Its all good!

JUNE BUCHANAN finishes 2nd in AAU state finals
To be honest the way Scott Co played this weekend I don't think they would of had a problem in Franklin Co's team camp. Yeah some closer games but it was obvious they will be on a mission this season. Haddix and Lee were both out. Lee will be back at the start of the season from shoulder surgery. They shot the ball about as good as you can and when your hitting your shots your press does the rest. Doss, Fern Creek, June Buchanon, Lincoln Co. Hazard. South Laurel are pretty good teams. I would say a few less better teams but some very good basketball. Having alot of new teams was great.

2006 AAU Boys Varsity Tournament Results
Here is the link from the tournament bracket. http://www.playkba.com/2006aauvarsity.htm The four days was a long one. Great crowds and the KIAC Referee camp really came through. I would of loved to see a few of the Lexington teams come but it was a good weekend. Scott Co dominated every game they played. There was some surprises. June Buchanon and Hazard are going to be two very good teams. Doss has the potential and so does Fern Creek. Lincoln with a full team could of easilly been in the finals. South Laurel is a different team without Proffit but a very good one. They will be going for the state title in March. Southwestern showed at times they could be dangerous this year.

Hazard & Jbs in semi's of AAU state
I would say from talking to a few of the coaches at Frankfort this weekend that they will be back at Lexington next year. There was seven teams that went to the Franklin Co team camp this year that played in the AAU state tournament last year. Those teams lost made way for 16 teams that played in the tournament for the first time. Frankfort had a hard time getting referees this week. This is just not a good time to do another tournament in this area when you have the AAU state tournament. The UK girls camp and the G-town girls camp. I have been happy with the large tournout this year and the KIAC referee camp. We had 67 referees compared to the 26 that they sent the tournament last year. That was the reasoning they left and they were tired of playing all the Lexington teams and it seems they were all over there, go figure. So far there seems to be a few surprises in both of the semifinals. Doss and South Laurel out of of the semifinals was a shock to me.

Scott County's Rodney Haddix ineligible for senior season
I hope the KHSAA don't drag their buts on this one. Just let the Haddix family know early on the appeal so they can make arrangements for his future.

Varsity State Tournament @ KBA
I would say it is a money thing. To be honest with you. Most of all the officials at the camp are not from Lexington. There was only two from Lexington last year. That is what Lexington teams say when they come to Louisville. This is my 23rd year and I have never seen that type of hatred in AAU. What will the panthers return this year prppride. Mabrey is one of my favorite coaches. I know he knocks the Sweet 16 refs every year but I still respect the guy.

Varsity State Tournament @ KBA
It seems that Clark Co is going to team camp at Western. After talking to a several of the coaches the reasoning was officials. So we changed that as I stated. The same old teams last year was another reason. One coach said they were tired of playing the Lexington public schools and now he went to Frankfort and it seems that they are over there. PRP, Tates Creek. Henry Clay, Lex Cath,Lafayette,Dunbar, Franklin Co and Mad Central are the teams that was playing in AAU last year. This is one of the toughest weekends of the year to get officials. The AAU state tournamnet will have at least 70 there. The UK girls camp will have at least 60 officials there. There was an e-mail sent out yesterday trying to get some officials for this event in Frankfort. Its going to be tough. I take a different look at this than most people. At first I was a little upset that some of my teams from last year went to the Frankfort camp. But as a coach you need to do what is right for your team and this is most important. The eight teams that left I feel was trying to send me a message. Change the format and we did, have enough officials and we do. I believe I will get at least six of those teams back next year. Hey everybody have a good summer and good luck to all the teams. We hope you get something out of your summer games.

Varsity State Tournament @ KBA
Here are the teams that will participate. We may add a few more before Thursday. We lost 7 teams that are going to Frankfort but we gained 22 new teams. There was some teams that got mad because of the referee camp last year. They sent 26 officials to do over 100 games and they needed at least 60. I will say we were not happy with the outcome. I am sure we will get those teams back next year since the camp has assured me that that will never happen again. Ron Dixon of the KIAC will now run the camp. Pools and brackets will be online Thursday afternoon. http://www.playkba.com VARSITY Corbin Lexington Christian Academy Williamstown South Laurel Garrad Co Boyle Co Wayne Co Elliot Co Casey Co Bishop Brossart Shelby County Harrison County Hazard Richmond Model Jackson County Red Bird Buckhorn Hart Co North Laurel Cumberland Lincoln Co Pineville Piarist Sayre June Buchanan Bell County Southwestern Bourbon Co East Jessamine Mercer Co Harlan Scott Co Rockcastle Co Montgomery Co. AAU State Tournament
The Scott Co.players are on the three teams. Haddix and Portwood Derek Smith East 17's. Bluegrass Stars are Walls and Hundley, James and at least 4 others that have contributed. Bluegrass won their pool in the 17U. Mackey and Givens are on the Charlotte Court 16U. The Lee kid hurt his shoulder and will have surgery next week. Will be out for 6 months.

AAU State Tournament
One of the Derek Smith teams lost in pool play and its the East team. The 16U is in a dog fight in the first round of tournamnent play with the Charlotte Court team. The 17U looks good to repeat but the the competition is much better this year. The weekend has been outstanding so far and all the coaches have been great.
