Hazard & Jbs in semi's of AAU state

Featured Replies

Hazard & JBS to meet in semifinals of 17u aau state tournament at KBA

Both have solid teams. I would suspect that any team with some big players down on the blocks will give these teams fits. A lot of teams seem to be taking the Bluegrass Championship in this week instead of the KBA event. I have heard alot of talk about some protesting the officating as the reason behind this move. Good luck to both Hazard and JBS, represent the mountians tomorrow.

What are the other results? Was this only an 8 team event? Post the results.

I do not know all of the results, there were 35 to 40 teams in varsity div., Hazard beat Elliott co., west jess., and South Laurel today.

South Laurel lost to Hazard??? Who has Hazard won and lost to this year during league, tourney, and team camp (if you know)?

AAU has lost alot of luster in the last couple of years. I think you will see more and more teams heading to the Bluegrass Championship next season. It is almost the Scott County invitiational now..

Yes Hazard beat South laurel, I believe Trey smith played but Profitt did not. Hazard beat Harrison Co., Lynn Camp, and Casey Co. in pool# 8 thursday and friday.

I would say from talking to a few of the coaches at Frankfort this weekend that they will be back at Lexington next year. There was seven teams that went to the Franklin Co team camp this year that played in the AAU state tournament last year. Those teams lost made way for 16 teams that played in the tournament for the first time. Frankfort had a hard time getting referees this week. This is just not a good time to do another tournament in this area when you have the AAU state tournament. The UK girls camp and the G-town girls camp. I have been happy with the large tournout this year and the KIAC referee camp. We had 67 referees compared to the 26 that they sent the tournament last year. That was the reasoning they left and they were tired of playing all the Lexington teams and it seems they were all over there, go figure. So far there seems to be a few surprises in both of the semifinals. Doss and South Laurel out of of the semifinals was a shock to me.

Did JBS beat Doss? If so, that was a quality win. I dont see anyone beating Scott County though, even without Jordan Lee.

who won the tourny? what teams made the finals?

June Buchanan did beat Doss by 8. They also beat Hazard in the semi and loss to Scott County in the final. June Buchanan was very impressive in the tourney.

I think Hazard loses the second round of the tourney had Elliott Co. had their full team there

If you played in Georgetown last week you played the Lexington teams plus Scott Co. Tates Creek, Dunbar, Henry Clay so on., then played at KBA this week, you hit a lot of good teams. 13 games in Georgetown and 8 games at KBA. Scott Co. played in both.

I disagree. Hazard is playing solid basketball and defeated Elliott County. As stated by many, several teams are missing starters and role players.

The Bluegrass Championship did not have a problem getting quality refs as many of the games had three referees. The feedback from the participating teams was very positive.
