Elliott knows they can play. Could it not be an advantage to them to not play the better in state teams and not give them an opportunity to prepare for a future meeting as well. With a game and time to prepare they almost beat a Mason team that handled them easily earlier in the year.

Heres a prop for Russell athletics, I witnessed the Russell 7th grade last year minus Skaggs and at the beginning of the season I thought yuck,but at the end of the year they seemed to have a much greater understanding of fundamentals and game awareness. I believe that this is a direct result of the lady that coached them, Anna Chaffin I think it is.

Ashland will be without their most experienced player. Somewhere around half of Ashland's roster is made up of underclassmen. I believe they will get better with time, but I'm afraid the beginning of the season will have its humps. Sounds a lot like UK.

Maybe you should take the bus. I think that if you were to use Blackburn in the directions then your right probably wouldn't be on 29th, wouldn't it be Skyline?

I thought Scaggs played the point quite a bit at the end of last year. I think some type of modified draft system would help.

Of those 6 the only players with any real experience are Bonner and Skaggs, Johnson played minutes last year and was a positive at times. The other three weren't much of a factor. I do agree that the development of the others you named will be key. I do think that Ashland will be much better in March than in December for this reason.

I agree he will have to carry the team. His supporting cast will have to play better than expected for them to compete every night. They do have a decent collection of players when you combine the 9 and 10 grade. They will have to develop these kids to be a region favorite in the upcoming years.

For Ashland to have a chance they will have to not make mistakes. This is obviously a cliche'. Remember this as well, the quarterback will be in his first ever playoff game and is a freshman. Last week in the district championship game I think he felt a little pressure. Tough spot. If he plays above his years like he has for quite a while, Ashland will see round 2.

Last year was Mullen and Harris I believe and this year is Mullen(sp?) and someone else. Don't know much about them. I was referring to the 4-6 grades as needing an overhaul. I have heard several folks share displeasure with the system.

From what I hear the numbers are lean and that the feeder system needs an overhaul. To get the program back to the desired consistency I guess this is where it should start. I think that this year they will be in the upper middle of the pack in the 16th. The 16th is really top heavy from what I understand with the weight coming from the 62nd district. After this year the 16th should be more balanced and a prime opportunity to begin a run of dominance by someone and Ashland can certainly be in that mix.

I guess I would consider college a little different. They are adults and making decisions for life. Course of study becomes a factor as do price tags. In grade school and high school the parents are in control totally and I think that their visions are often clouded.

I don't think that a school always contacts a player. I think that a lot of times the parents contact the school. I guess if I have two kids and one is talented in one area and another is talented in another area, I as the parent should consider sending them to different school systems.

Do any transfers have to clear waivers?

I think the parents always do what they think is best. I also believe that most of the time they are unrealistic with their expectations. This is why parents hold back kids and change schools, to gain an advantage. At some point, it will sort its way out, and those that can play because of ability will play.

I just watched one of the most exciting hs football games. I do however feel sorry for the punters. They didn't get to show their skills much. I know that the Hunter qb will make mistakes and has a lot to learn, but what a competitor, what a winner. He is special.

Sounds like Bonner and Hardy will be vital in containing the Woodford attack. Hardy has been a little quiet lately, a big game from him will be the difference. I say Ashland 27 Woodford 21.
