LC's running backs? Apparently they wouldnt make a 41 pt difference though. I truly wish the Bulldogs would get their program back to where it was. From the looks of things at Central Matney has really got that program rolling.

I, for one, have never doubted that Belfry belonged on the same field as Russell. Did I think Russell had more coming back and probably a better team? Yes. Do I still feel that way? Yes. But Belfry does have a younger team, thus more room to improve throughout the year. Hopefully this means come playoff time the Pirates will be hitting their stride with all the young guys gaining valuable experience throughout the year. IMO this game means nothing but bragging rights for Ashland and it doesnt in anyway signify that Russell still isnt the favorite to come out this side of the state in AA.

Ashland won people, lets leave any remarks about the officiating out of it. Bad calls are a part of the game. It happens. It happened the week before and apparently it happened this week but it should take nothing away from what Ashland has accomplished the past two weeks. Great win Tomcats. Russell has a great team and I believe they will again make a long run into the playoffs.

Wow, I just got home and it looks like Ive missed quite a game on the updates. Win or lose it looks like Ashland has really starting to play Tomcat ball. I guess all the bad talk about a down year in Ashland is officially over.

I just wish Belfry could somehow shy away from the passing game and mix in a little run every now and then.:sssh: On a serious note though, IMO there is nothing prettier than the triple option ran to perfection out of the bone.

If "kicking around" a team looking for nothing but practice and improvement in a scrimmage makes you a perennial E. Ky power then break out the champagne my friend because you have arrived.:scared: As far as Belfry not wanting to schedule a team because they are scared of a loss, then please know youre information before speaking such utter nonsense. Remember Belfry has played Ironton for 10+ years with not much as an outside chance of winning but just looking for a team to push them to where they need to be come the end of the season. And finally as far as JC "kicking around" Belfry at the end of last season, its another hallucination that you and maybe a select few of uneducated football minds might agree on. Now Im a die hard Matney supporter. I would have loved to play for him and I cant wait til JC is the power that I think he will build but lay off of the "holier than thou" attitude for now. When you get there we will pat you on the back but for now lets just say good luck.

He actually won a 15th region title in, I think, '93 with the Conley kid. He was sometimes accused of having some character issues but the bottom line is this guy can coach. Would be a great fit for the Bulldogs. Hes not a coach that will tolerate any lip from the parents of the kids he coaches and that in itself is something the Hazard program could use.

I will always be there welcoming Shawn and any team he coaches when they travel into Belfry. But the kissing part will always be left out. I love him like a brother but not that much. :eek: :eek:

His sideline "antics" as you call them, are just a part of Shawn. If you never saw him play then you would never know that just because he was 5'8"(maybe), 150lbs he never backed down. I watched him fight a kid a long time ago who was a foot taller and double his weight and he backed down not one inch. Thats just Shawn, someone who wont back away from anything no matter what the odds are. And like I said earlier his team has apparently took on this same personality. Like I said, I will always pull for Belfry but friday night is something special to myself and quite a few others who have had the honor of standing arm and arm with Coach Hager. Shawn might be on the opposite sideline of our beloved Pirates but an enemy he will never be.

Hmmm David over Goliath. Where have I heard that story before? Anyways, I see this game being a little to close to call. Im might just lose my Pirate fan club membership for this but I can honestly see the Cardinals coming into the CAM and leaving victorious. Dont get me wrong, I always pull for my Pirates. Once you wear the red and white your feelings towards this program will never be the same but on the other hand I honestly like this Cardinals team. Granted they are a tough-nosed bunch of youngsters and play harder than any team Ive seen in a long time. But for me it is a little deeper. Shawn Hager has been one of my closest friends for a while. Ive played with him in grade school, high school and college and in my mind Ive never had the honor of being around someone with more intensity towards any activity he participates in. Its quite a compliment when someone says a team has taken on the personality of their coach and without a doubt this Cardinal team is as much like Shawn as any Ive seen. I will pulling for a good game. Do I want to see Belfry win? Yes but if the Cardinals pull the upset will I be that disappointed? Not really. Both teams have come a lot farther than anyone ever imagined at the start of the season. After talking to Shawn a few weeks ago the one thing he said was "I just want one more shot at Belfry and hopefully I dont make the mistakes I made in the first game." Shawn takes all the blame for losing the first game and let me tell you that there wont be anyone on either side of the field more fired up than him. Well he got his wish. Will it be something he regrets wanting? Who knows. I say goodluck to both teams and win or lose I will be as proud of both of the teams as I have ever been of any team. This is one game I just want to watch as non-partisan fan. Should be a dandy.

You know at first I was going to stay up as late as possible to hear all the excuses by LC fans but on second thought Im going to be the bigger man and stay away from this thread. I think most of us outside of Hyden knew that LC wasnt as good as they thought they was and it took losing to a team that wasnt "supposed" to give them a game at home to wake them up. Anyway, congrats on a good not "great" season. See you next year. Maybe. Go Pirates, Go Cardinals.

I dont mean to sound like a jerk but all day,week and year long we have had to hear just how good this LC team is and until you beat somebody who has some talent your ability to be good is yet to be seen. I think LC has some great fans but they were more than a few who acted like there wasnt another team in this region worthy of playing with them. As lee corso would say"Not so fast my friend"

"I told you so, I told you so, I told you so, etc." I guess the theory that Leslie is a 20 pt better team than either Belfry or SC is out the window. And to "some" of the leslie fans, Remember!!! Yet another bold statment from an apparent Eagle fan. You people have me really stumped. Leslie has one good year in who knows how long and included in that year is not one win over what I would consider a quality team. YET some people seem to think that Leslie will have a cakewalk to the regional championship. Wake up people. Even when you had the greatest player in your schools history on the field it wasnt a cake walk. Ive never been one to say I told you so but sometime in the next two weeks I have a feeling you will be hearing "I told you so", DOUGHBOY!!

Great assessment Glacier! BUT to say that Leslie is a 20 pt better team than Belfry is insane. If following Bells strategy is what a team needs then I see both Sheldon Clark and Belfry being able to do that. Im not bashing you or Leslie but until they beat a team who is actually good then Ill hold my judgement on the Eagles. I, honestly, think a Leslie/Belfry regional finals would be quite an interesting ballgame. Do I see Leslie beating Belfry? Quite possibly. Do I see them beating Belfry by 20 pts or more? No way. I could be wrong but I think this Cardinal team can hang in there. You cant teach size and desire and this SC team has both. My head says Leslie by 10-14 but something tells me that SC could pull the upset in OT 34-28.
