If you saw them I promise you would remember them. Ive never forgotten the experience of getting to see them play. One word, Unstoppable.

I always wondered if that '87 team faced any adversity that year. Injuries, player spats etc. Ive always heard they were all good friends as well as great players and teammates. I guess they were the exception to the rule. My senior year at Belfry we had around 4-5 starters out come playoff time and it just caught up to us. More than likely we would have won it all but injuries are part of the game and so the story goes.

I have to disagree a little. That '87 team could have caught an abundance of bad breaks and still breezed to a state championship.:ylsuper:

Im right there with you. I gave P-burg absolutely no chance of winning this game and man are they proving me wrong.

Yes, breaks are a big part of being able to win a state championship. Ive seen it first hand from your neighbor across the mountains. Belfry has had plenty of teams capable of winning state but just couldnt ever get the breaks.

How about Paintsville leading Hazard 14-0 at the half.

Believe me, Im keeping one eye on this game and one on ours.

As expected. Didnt really think Pikeville would come out and let an inferior team play with them again. Billyrayjoebob, do you sense Pikeville is turning up the intensity now that its playoff time? I see no reason why Pikeville cant make a run towards Papa Johns this year.

Real sloppy game thus far for the Pirates. Hopefully its just overlooking a far more inferior team.

I wouldnt say P-burg is down this year. Yes they have struggled at times this year but they are still P-burg and come playoffs they always seem ready to play. I do agree though that beating SC again seemed highly unlikely.

Valley seems to be putting up a better fight this time around. They've held Belfry to 160 yds in the 1st quarter, if you can call that holding a team down. Holding on to the ball still seems to be a problem for the Pirates. Bad news for the Pirates this late in the year.

Somewhat of a shocker. SC wont give up though. Believe me, we(Belfry) know that.
