Shocking that neither team is able to muster any offense. I was expecting a 35-28 or more final. I really figured Belfry would come out more focused than last year but again my prediction is wrong.

Just got home from a late night at work and let me say Im somewhat stunned. I really thought this would be a nailbiter to the end. I guess its just another game that Ive failed to predict anywhere near close. 0 turnovers from any Belfry team is quite an accomplishment with all the ball faking and run plays that we use. If this team can continue to hold onto the ball and improve on, what many say is a suspect special teams, they might just pull off an unlikely state championship. Congratulations on a very very good victory. Lets get ready for the rematch next week. Go Bucs!!!!

Throughout the years Ive been one to question Coach's play calling or strategy which is normal for any diehard follower of a football team. Now just because I questioned certain things didnt mean I wouldnt follow Coach Haywood to the ends of the earth. But the one thing I could never question about Coach was his ability to "preach" to his kids the importance of rising to the occasion. Ive sat in the locker room during those "preach" times and I would run through a wall for him and these times are few in occurence. I feel like this friday is one of those times. Its time to stir the pot, flame the fire and circle the wagons.

I hope to hear about it happening. This time of year it is all about desire and I believe Belfry needs a little more fire in their belly to make a legitimate run at the championship. FYI, I wont be there either, cant make it home in time. Hope to see you on here friday night during the updates.

I believe this year's team resembles the 2003 team in attitude only. Granted we are without the studs in the backfield but I believe this team truly believes it's us against the world. Just like in '03, this team is being somewhat overlooked, has great line play and has a QB who seems to have a great deal of "football intelligence". Hopefully this team can bond like the '03 team and find the belief that they found in '03.

I dont think it matters to him where Im from BRJB. And yes I believe things will get back to "normal" real quick. Ive tried to stay civil and just state that I believe that Pikeville is the better team. I give up. Im outta here before I find myself on the bench again. Later

Not too bad, definately not sad and crying over a football game seems insane. Learn to win with respect. Act like you've won a big game before. I know Hazard has had big wins in the past but did their fans act this way before? BTW, Im not from Pikeville but do root for them when they arent playing Belfry and the truth is Pikeville is the better team. I live in Hazard and Ive had the opportunity to watch them a few times along with Pikeville and coming from an unbiased spectator, Hazard pulled off a miraculous upset. Probably couldnt do it again but once is all that matters.

The winner of the Belfry/Middlesboro game would host the semis.

BTW my picks for the AA state championship. My heart says Belfry vs Owensboro Catholic (Belfry winning) My head says Russell vs Mercer Co.(Mercer winning) My gut says Middlesboro vs Trigg Co.(Middlesboro winning) Not sure why but something tells me that Middlesboro is a lot better than most "predictions" throughout the state are telling me. Hopefully one of my senses has to be right.

We're not used to that "underdog" role and maybe we are trying to recapture the magic we used at Middlesboro in 2003 as the underdog. You cant blame us for trying. Seriously though, I dont think either team could be considered an underdog. I, honestly give a slight edge to the Jackets in the total team package but Belfry has the homefield thus IMO results in a pretty even matchup. Believe me, I would much rather be the team favored to win this game. When a team is favored they seem to have more room to make mistakes and still win. In this game I see neither team being able to make mistakes and still pull out the win.

They shouldnt have to tolerate a totally unacceptable loss like this. Too much talent and tradition in that program to lose to a team that should have been preparing for the bus ride home at halftime.

If these two teams played 10 times I would pick Pikeville by 21+ in 9 of those games. Unfortunately for the Panthers they picked the wrong time to play that "one" out of ten game.

:thumb: :thumb: Been there done that so I, too, understand the relation of fatigue to poor tackling but in most cases one can see this happening beyond the line of scrimmage. If that was the case in the Sheldon Clark game then we wouldnt have been missing tackles in their backfield. Fatigue had absolutely nothing to do with the missed tackles in that game, I am able to distinguish between fatigue and plain old bad fundamentals. Belfry might lose this game but I would bet the house that it wont come down to Belfry being tired on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe a case of the Jackets being more athletic but definately not from fatigue.:thumb:

Actually the lose to Ashland had absolutely nothing to do with the defense. A very logical decision by Coach Haywood to go for two on the road was the deciding factor. Not getting it cost us that game, not the defense in my opinion. Now the other lose could quite well be blamed on the defense. Not that they were wore down, as you say, but actually for some unknown reason they forgot the most fundamental rule in football, TACKLING. Actually I blame this on a loss of focus and in no way was due to fatigue. As far as the game goes, it is quite refreshing to come into a playoff game and not have to wear the tag as "favorite". This Belfry team is really being underestimated. Not by Middlesboro's fans or the Belfry faithful but by most accounts on this websites and others their chances are slim to none to reach the carpet this year. Does it matter what others think? No, but how many times in Belfry history have they been considered an underdog at home in the playoffs? I can only think of maybe 2-3 times in my life. All in all this will be a dandy though. IMO if both teams play a perfect game(no turnovers, few penalities etc) then I see the Jackets coming away with the win. If Belfry can create a few turnovers and get out in front by 14+ then this one might get ugly. Like Ive said before, Middlesboro really scares me. More than I was actually scared before the Russell game last year(which we lost). In the east its looking like Russell/Belfry III. But neither opponents should be taken lightly. Corbin has an outstanding tradition and those kids and coaching staff know what it takes to win a big game on the road. Middlesboro is probably my sleeper team to win it all. Great leadership, great athletes and great coaching make them a dangerous team. As far as the west goes, it is, was and always has been Mercers to lose. I dont see it happpening next week which I think will set up a showdown with Owensboro Catholic, a team that knows a little bit about pulling the giant upset come playoff time.

Im not sure how many more "disappointing" seasons the maroon faithful can handle before more changes begin to happen. Let me just say I think Pikeville had a good year. Not great but good. But the thing that bothers me(along with probably the whole town of Pikeville) is that Pikeville is not the dominate team of past. It seems year after year they have the talent to beat some teams that are predicted to win it all but they find a way to lose before they even make it to the better opponent. Ex. IMO Pikeville has enough talent to compete with Somerset for the regional title but look what happens the week prior. A team Pikeville should beat and has beat by 30+ sneaks up and pulls the upset. I honestly cant wait for an explanation by Coach J sometime in the near future.

Just like Daddy Cat said, it doesnt matter if this game was being played on Mars, Somerset will win by as many as they want to. No offense to Hazard but their chances are almost slim to none.

Great game definately. Middlesboro's athleticism really scares me though.

In the updates it seemed like someone said that Pikeville was using time-outs during the last 30 seconds.

Maybe they were hoping to have at least a little time left after the field goal. Who knows. I would believe the last timeout was probably to "ice" the FG kicker but with Coach Jackson your guess is as good as mine.

Yes he will. With the key word being "forced". I dont think he will have much of an excuse except that they were definately overlooking the Bulldogs.

As expected. Great win now lets get ready for a very good Middlesboro team next week. Hopefully we can limit the turnovers against the Jackets. I believe I say this after every Belfry game.
