  1. 1A hard to think Painstville wasn't 1 or 2. They beat Pikeville without tailback Phelps for 2+quarters. Even in the final game without Kash Paintsville was up 17-14 in the second and it was a 4 pt ️game 12 seconds before half. Didn't see enough 2A to know. 3A is interesting. Central/Belfry been good games. I'd be interested to hear from Belfry fans who was more athletic Lawrence Co or Lex Cath. I know it's hard to believe around the state sometimes when we talk of skill kids in EKY. Robert and Timmy Dalton are freakish athletes! 4A I think so. 5A I think so. 6A Trinity
  2. Anybody in the Ashland area know what sports Brown from West Carter plays? One of the most underrated athletes in KY. Not far off from Bakers speed. Know he is football+track. Outstanding family. I'd be shocked if he doesn't have great grades too!
  3. Luke Trimble (Sr Paintsville) Football-Captain winningest team program history. 2 way starter+all special teams all 4 yrs. 28 TD's 12 int's (4or5 pick 6's). Basketball-FIVE year starter Varsity PG! Track-3 State track appearances. Never missed a start in any sport! GPA-3.8!
  4. Thank you! Excited to see his growth focusing all year on one sport and one position. High ceiling. Makes 1st guy miss a lot to be 6'1.
  5. Corner/slot Luke Trimble (Paintsville) 6 interceptions (3 pick sixes 1 called back). (Career 12 interceptions w 4 pick sixes, 7 fumble recoveries, 226 tackles). Offense this yr ave 14 yds a carry, 15 yds a catch and ave scoring every 4 carries!! (Career 2218 all purpose yds 28TD's). 4 year starter on offense/defense/ kick/ kick return/ punt/ punt return and extra point! Never missed a start, finished every game all 4 years. Starters pulled early a lot of games this year or stats would be a lot higher. 5 year varsity starter at Point Guard for the Tigers and has sprinted in several state track meets. 3.8 GPA!! Proud of my nephew http://http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1755965/highlights/295220375/v2
  6. I'm with the above. VERY impressed w SW Defense! Weird seeing Brandon Smith the Coach after pulling for him as a player just a few years ago. That family has quite the ring collection! Great season JC. Happy to see Bryce Skaggs pop a 68 yard TD.
  7. Could also depend on who he's battling in front of him all night. Anybody seen both want to compare Males best dlineman/LBer vs Trinity's? Could have felt that way to him if T had a war daddy in there he had to battle every play. I'm not saying he's right Male won twice but it's his opinion. It's not like T is some slouche. In his opinion T might have been tougher.
  8. I meant his team had to play both ways. Just not enough kids in school to do it. Hard to stay healthy both ways.
  9. Different philosophy's different circumstances. Experience wise I've coached in state championships in KY+WV also took another program 0-11 to 12-1 in 1 season. All 3 cases we 2 platooned about 90% of kids so defiantly a good case for it from experience. That said my nephews team went 13-1 this year. Not a shot they'd done that without 2 platooning! Step further we were undefeated w a 2,300+yd tailback that went to Marshall. We practiced him a good month plus at safety in case we needed him around state. Team we played could recruit Baltimore/DC area. They were loaded but 1 WR that went to Ohio U was awesome! We played our tailback both ways good bit that game. Didn't really matter other team was significantly better and we lost best DTackle in state to broken leg on 1st drive. It was a great learning lesson though. His burst wasn't there. 90yd runs were 9 yd runs. I don't think there's any doubt about leg freshness. I always think about Mike Bush in the greatest game I've ever seen. Happened to be state finals vs Trinity. He was so exhausted he couldn't drop back to pass. He'd catch the snap and sling BB's! Great topic!
  10. Bill Curry used to do it with Tim Couch. That's a whole other topic. Used to drive me nuts. I think there's several reasons or talent advantage. Best reason numbers advantage. Some do it from habit. Some get to right handed. Some run to their sideline. Habit. Setting up other plays etc.
  11. For what it's worth for those watching this weekend....I missed 80% of 4th quarter due to my stream freezing up when enlarged on iPad. Tonight I'm watching the WV championship. It froze at the start so I reloaded and just kept it in the original small broadcast. It hasn't frozen one time since.
  12. Congrats Mike! Brought a lot of pride to Ballard! Enjoy that boy they grow up fast!!
  13. William Murell knocked us out of a ring by 3pts my Jr. year. He could fly!! Barnes was tough too. I knew William led the OVC in rushing and was a legend at EKU. Thought he played in the Canadian Football League. While looking it up ran across him being Alabama tailback and KY High School great Damian Harris's Dad. Mind is blown! See where the wheels come from! 2 backs that could burn!
  14. Just missed Pikeville's whole final drive for TD! Audio only working Regret paying now! Promoted for them too! Freezing every play!
  15. Anybody else have trouble with feed freezing up? Mine has frozen about every 4 min! Froze on beechwoods punt that ended up 1st down. Froze on beechwoods 4th down play! Frustrating Great picture but keeps freezing and I have good connection.
  16. The consistency is truly amazing. My Jr. year we traveled from Lawrence Co all the way to Mayfield for the final 4. Longest playoff drive ever! They beat us 21-18. I remember reading at some point around there that they had been to 24 of the last 26 Final 4's or something close to that! That was all the way back in 1991! They haven't degressed since then! It's amazing! I think they have to have a pretty special youth/MS feeder program! They had William Murral (fastest kid in the state) and Barnes then. Both went to Eastern.
  17. Best of luck to Q. One of those things we don't know what all has gone on behind the scenes. End of the day he's got one life and it's a big decision that he needs to go with his gut. Never know what coaches might be moving etc. Western has a good thing going. Al was a monster at Trigg Co. Wish him the best of luck! Side note saw a picture of him+Al side by side. Both specimens but it was crazy how fast Al was for his size!
  18. Brandon Berger was one of my favorite running backs I've watched in KY. Always think of him when I see the name Beechwood along w G+Yeagle. Great to hear he's back there coaching and helping the youth.
  19. I think this will be a great ballgame. Haven't seen Beechwwod but know the pedigree. Pikeville isn't your typical 1A EKY team. They have the bell cow TB but they also execute in their passing game very efficiently. I agree with the post above. Their kicking game could be a huge liability in a game like this. They didn't kick to Trimble one time all night. They kicked to Phelps once and he took it to the house! Rest of the time it was squib kicks which resulted in good field position. If there aren't a lot of turnovers this should be a great matchup.
  20. 2 great teams 2 great communities. Really tough way to go out! Heavyweight fight. Both teams traded blows. Many thought Paintsville would roll over but they came out swinging. 17-14 end of 1st quarter on a FIFTY TWO yd FG!! 4 pt game 12 sec before the half and the Panthers came up with a huge score at the half with no timeouts on a great catch. Just too much Pugh. Always wonder what if the Tigers played the Panthers with all of their bullets. Tough to see Kash out. He's grown up like family to us. Kent Phelps was big. He and Trimble moved the ball well in the Wildcat. Hats off to Pikeville. They are so well coached and a class act. Paintsville had them in 3rd+4th down a lot just couldn't make stops when they had too. Pugh is tougher than nails! He reminds me of Doug Howard that played at Belfry. Battalie played great! To be a Soph he's a stud! I couldn't be more proud of my nephew Luke Trimble. Never wanted to jinx him so didn't talk about it much but in 17 years of coaching hard to remember a kid doing what he did. Luke was a FOUR year starter offense, defense, kickoff, kickoff return, punt, punt return and extra point! Throw in starting Point Guard since Eighth grade and a state track kid. 1st I thank the God Lord for no major injuries. That's a lot of pounding on the body! I know he played hurt a lot but no major injuries. I'm proud of his mental and physical toughness. He started as a bloody nosed little Freshman and finished as one of the top play makers in KY and a leader! So proud of him! I'd like to publically thank Coach Cherrico too. It's been such an amazing ride. 4 years ago Paintsville finished the season with about 15 kids dressed. This year that number was up in the 40's. I've watched several teammates get baptized together. Seen a communitty fall in love with their team. Watched the players cry tears of joy and tears of hurt because they love their teammates so much. It's been a special ride for that whole team and I appreciate every one of them for the memories. Best of luck to Pikeville. interesting to see them and the old rival Beechwood lock up. Should be a dandy! Hope both teams come away injury free! 2 great programs!
  21. Defiantly didn't mean they'll score that every night but I think they can put up points on most KY High School teams. LC doesn't have a lot of basketball ️tradition. They've been waiting for this group to be Sr's for about 10yrs now. Should be best team in school history and should be clear favorite to win the 15th. They haven't earned the right to be preseason top 10 but I'll be surprised if they aren't around it at the end of the season if they stay healthy. Will be a fun team to track this year. Play in Fast Lane+Lex Cath tourney. I wouldn't call them a defensive team being objective. I think they'll be extremely explosive on offense.
  22. The Tiger Triplets turned out OK😊 Fun thread. Ryan at WKU. Sinclair at Purdue. Slusher tough. Roy/Washington both really good.
  23. Don't be surprised if Lawrence Co comes out of nowhere and cracks the top 10. LC has never made the Sweet 16. If they don't make it this year they might never make it. Team loaded with scorers and can run. Sr Robert Dalton can throw it down 360, reverse ball down to the ankles etc. Extremely athletic. Jr Timmy Dalton is good enough to put up in the 30's some nights. Sr QB Grant Kiser gives stability. Sr Brandon Richardson can drop 20+ a night. Sr Austin Chaffins can also drop points in the 20-30 range. This team will be fun to watch this year. Should be LC's best team ever I think.
  24. Raceland had the ball 1st +goal twice last night inside the 3. Kash stuffed them giving up ZERO points on those 2 1st and goal drives. Hit and big 4th down jump pass ala Tebow to seal the game too. Paintsville off to 1st 12-0 start in school history playing another undefeated this week. Hate seeing Q Baker out hurt the last 2 games. Great career. Really thought Ashland/Central round 2 would be a battle.
  25. Been coaching at Cabell Midland in WV. Still chat scheme, ball w them about every week. Took this Fall off. Both my parents healthy so been traveling w them to watch my nephew (Trimble). Been a lot of fun seeing Dad so excited. He turned 73 last month so I've really enjoyed getting to spend quality time w him on Friday nights. This game is one of those that the coach in me knows there's a lot of pride ️coming to town. My jr year Russell beat us by 40+. Playoffs was 6-6 we beat them double OT. Last yr Pikeville smoked Paintsville only to see a 70pt swing in playoffs. Raceland has been as consistent as anybody in EKY last 25yrs. They'll come to play Fri! I think Paintsville has way more speed this year but they can't just show up. Have to protect the ball+win special teams. As good as all of these guys are could make an easy argument Messer was as good as any. That kid was so talented! He was a tough one to replace. You guys give me a yell if any of you come Friday. Love to meet up for a few before the game.
