This is where you are mistaken. He has SEC offers at LB. Actually, Tuberville offered Brent because of his ability to play defense and offense. Versatility is another commodity college coaches like. Brent doesn't have to prove anything to you and your opinion is neither here nor there. He can choose where and what he wants to play so what you think is irrelevant. Furthermore, I don't know why it possibly matters what position he is recruited at....he's gets to play D1 ball. Does LB have more prestige than TE? Or is it just a way for someone to trash him and act like what they think is important? If it makes you feel better to look ill-informed and petty, knock yourself out. One thing that really irks me about this area is the lack of support for the kids. Thank you to those that do support them. It helps the kids. Look at NE KY, everybody gets behind their kids and are proud. Instead of being glad that a kid is doing good and MAYBE helping raise the perception of KY ball (more specifically, MTN area), some folks have to whine, cry, and try to tear them down. What Brent and the few other recruits have gotten has taken NOTHING away from anyone else in this state nor kept a single kid from earning the same thing. What I suggest is that people teach their kids, or themselves, to work hard and earn it and if they can't, won't, or don't have the ability....quit howling about those that do. If someone is truly "overlooked", it's up to them to change it. It wasn't taken away by someone else's success. Auburn, SC, LSU, etc. don't normally recruit this area. Does it occur to any of the small minded that Brent Slusher and Brad Durham may just possibly help people think there might be worthwhile athletes here and that making a trip or looking at film may not be a waste of time? :fight:

Sure. If he's really "overlooked." The outplaying part is a matter of opinion, defensive schemes, and perspective. I'm still confused about how two linebackers from different teams line up at the same time so that one could outplay the other. I'm trying to decide if this is sarcasm or IF it should be something to be offended by. If it was meant as a serious comment, I must say that it would be a bad opinion considering that Slusher's offer list just keeps growing. Considering Auburn's ranking, I doubt anyone on this board can evaluate talent better than their staff.

I didn't realize defense played defense.....wait, they don't. If your assessment was ANYWHERE near correct, that kid would be gettiing looks because somebody would notice his talent level.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Stuart Hines or Doug Beaumont went to either a Scout or Nike combine this spring or summer. Anderson, Petrino, and Slusher went to at least one combine.

THEY do not decide who gets offers. I would think that most recruiters have enough sense to evaluate on their own - through film and in-person - visits without having to rely on an analyst's opinion. Politics???? You think that's why these boys have been getting so much NATIONAL attention? Hard work and going out and competing might be a better answer.

Not only have they looked at him and offered him a scholarship, he is committed to them. As far as offers go........Tennessee, South Carolina, and quite a few more.

OK, try again. The article is on page D3 of the Herald's football preview insert from Aug. 18th. The title is " Mr. Football contenders make versatility a virture". Do I need to type the exact paragraph or can you find it now? Nevermind....I'll go ahead: "Bell County linebacker Brent Slusher, who has committed to Auburn, has to be mentioned as a player-of-the-year possibility." Clear enough? Still funny?

If you bothered to read the article, rather than just look at the pictures, Slusher IS listed.

According to a certain publication, the top 10 Mr. Football candidates are: Vic Anderson, Doug Beaumont, Stuart Hines, Brent Slusher, Nick Petrino, Keith Tandy, Kaelin Ammons, Avery Hibbitt, Chase Minnifield, and Scott Grizzle (sleeper).

No UK. South Carolina could be added.

I think lateral speed is just as (or more) important. I see some great 40 times with not-so-great shuttles and it makes me think that the kid probably wouldn't be so fast on the field and might not react fast.

I think Scout's is by invitation.

Slusher's form isn't the best in the 40.....he is capable of doing better. The good thing is that the recruiters say that they can take care of that. They know with the shuttle and film he's faster than that. I can tell you that I have heard over and over "We're not recruiting a track star" or "Just because someone can run fast straight ahead doesn't mean they can play football". This is why they do one-on-ones and drills. Like I said, to be in the top 7 of almost 500 testing in the "hotbed" area is not bad. His performance really helped his stock because some of the blazing fast kids didn't do well in drills and one on ones.
