Bell County LB/TE Brent Slusher gives verbal to Auburn

Featured Replies

WYMT reported on the evening news that Bell County Linebacker and Tight End give his verbal commitment to Auburn. He said he also considered Vanderbilt but chose Auburn due to it being more like home and not a big city. Congrats to a great kid.

He might want to keep his options open. It looks like Auburn might be in for a little NCAA probation. The New York Times has a team camped out down on the plains digging up dirt on their "classes without walls program".:sssh:

I'd be surprised if this results in any form of probation for Auburn.

Congratulations to Brent! Hes a great kid who I know personally and Im just thrilled for him to get the chance to go to a school like Auburn for free. Ive always knew, since he was in 7th grade that he had potential to become a very good athlete, but I never imagined hed become as goo as he has!

You may get surprised then. I was in Huntsville this week and the fear of the NCAA is alive and well. Its a pretty big mess.

Who cares, as long as this kid gets to play ball and receive a free education. How many kids in this area get to play for a powerhouse like Auburn? I can count them all with one hand. Brent, we all knew you could do this sice you were in diapers. Congratulations nephew!!!!!!

Congrats to Brent, and I'm sure he'll do great at Auburn. Have a great senior year and continue with the "Kentucky High School Football" spirit down in Auburn............LTW.

Did UK ever offer him?

Did UK ever offer him?

According to rivals these are the teams that did, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Marshall, Cincinnati, and of course Auburn. No offer from UK ???????????????????

I'm curious as to why UK did not offer. Maybe they have a lot of depth at his position??

I think that depth at his position is why UK never offered him. I'm sure that they really want to try and keep the instate players here but sometimes it just doesn't work out. With UK having about 7 greyshirts, they will only be able to sign roughly 17 players next year. 16 now that Murphy has committed. I hope this doesn't bite the Cats like Lofton did. I wish Brent the best of luck. I've enjoyed watching him play over the years for Bell.

Key word here is VERBAL. You don't sign until February and schools can still talk to any young man. Good Luck Brent.

All my congrats go out to the young man. I've heard a lot of people doggin Brent (mostly on other websites) about choosin Auburn. Saying there is no way he will make it and he won't even play special teams. Brent don't listen to any of that cause if you weren't good enough for Auburn then they never would have offered you. With all the offers this kid got i would like to know what happen with the Tennesee offer??? But like I said it's Brents choice and he will make the right decision no matter what. CONGRATS :dancingpa

Pretty much he just ran into the numbers game when it comes to UK. Him not getting offered had nothing to do with talent.
