With regard to the coaching situation, no one is going to doubt how great a coach Chuck Smith is. However, I believe the last time he was the head coach of a high school team was in 2004, which is 10 years ago. I don't think he was on the Boyle County sideline doing any kind of coaching in the recent past. It's true that this is Brian Weinrich's first year as a head football coach at the high school level, but he has been on the HHS sideline every year for as long as the current HHS players have been alive (he joined the HHS coaching staff in 1995). I'd venture to say that his transition to the head coaching position at HHS will be smoother than Smith's transition back to the high school game.
Boyle County may or may not have advantages over Highlands in 2014, but I'd be surprised if coaching is one of them.
