  1. Still no updates about who will play in this game, or when/where the game will definitely be played? Any idea about when this information will come out?
  2. From all that has been said about the top 6A teams for next year, it sounds as if, ON PAPER Saint Xavier should be the favorite, but given Trinity's recent title run they likely should be given the nod for number one.
  3. If this passes, does Highlands get their 12 wins back from 2004???
  4. Who will be totin' the rock this year for CCH? I think that CCH lost their top two RBs from last year's team (Buckley and Furnish).
  5. I think that HHS can feel CCH's pain when it comes to matching up with Ohio's strong football programs (AND vice versa). If just looking at pure wins and losses, then obviously neither HHS nor CCH has had much success. However, both teams have played some VERY good games against solid Ohio competition, and it's probably not a coincidence that both CCH and HHS have a history of scheduling very tough competition and both have a history of championships.
  6. LexCath would be a tough out for the likes of CCH or HHS year in and year out. I'm even say that a game against LexCath during the latter part of a season would do more to prepare CCH for the kind of competition CCH would have to go through to win a state title than Moeller, Elder, Cincy St. X, etc. The same goes for HHS. On an unrelated note, I finally got to meet the guru in person at the Highlands practice yesterday!
  7. Here's the thing about luck... luck certainly enters into the picture whenever competitive sports are involved, but the team that is most prepared to handle unexpected events or opportunities stands a much better chance of benefitting from them (and thus appearing "lucky") than a team that is not as prepared. Anyone who honestly thinks that Trinity has "lucked" into one or more of their 18 state titles is hitting the sauce a little too much.
  8. The final game may not be interesting, but it's interesting to see which non-T/X team gets to make it. I think your response to my initial post even proves this point... the two examples you gave involved two different teams (Scott County and Ryle). I know this was Ryle's first-ever football championship game appearance, and it may have been for Scott County as well. When T and X are on different sides of the bracket, everybody knows who's making it to PJCS (and no disrespect meant to Male, but these days it's the Louisville Big Two, instead of the Big Three). For the years when T and X are on the same side of the bracket, there is definitely more uncertainty regarding who advances to the state finals.
  9. FYI, the Highlands football team has a spring ball practice this Friday at 4pm at Cecil Stadium... come one, come all... Well, second thought, Obama's minister is not welcome to attend, as it is a violation of article 2 of the city's charter, which states that under no circumstances are America-haters allowed to enter Caketown, USA.
  10. I like mine with extra E. coli. Oh, wait a minute, I thought we were talking about ground beef. My bad.
  11. I'm not sure how T and X being on opposite sides of the bracket makes 6A "interesting." If anything, I would think this makes it pretty uninteresting, since there's a 99% chance that the finals will be a T-X match-up, which is made even less exciting by the fact that these two always play each other during the regular season (at PJCS, no less). I would go so far as to say that things in 6A get a little more interesting when T and X are on the same side of the bracket, since it creates a lot more uncertainty regarding which non-Trinity/St. Xavier team will make the finals... and in my book, uncertainty often equates with being interesting.
  12. For those who have been around KY prep football for a long time, I am wondering what changes (if any) you have seen in KY high school football over the decades. Has the importance placed on prep football changed any? Has it become less of a team sport, with more emphasis on individual attention on players? Are players spending more or less time preparing/practicing for football? Has KY prep football gotten better or worse over the decades? I am curious to read people's thoughts on the subject.
  13. I am hoping to make an appearance at the practice this upcoming Friday at 4pm!!!
  14. When looking at the whole picture (or as I like to say, the full 'tater), it would have to be NKY. However, the VERY best football is in Louisville, since Trinity, Saint X, Male, and Manual are there, and they are ALWAYS so strong.
  15. I'm glad that the coach added the part about accuracy, because for a minute I was worried that he wanted to throw the ball with inaccuracy.
  16. So, will these guys have to sit a year, or can they play in 2008?
  17. I'm totally confused... are all these potential "transfers" to CCH guys that will be freshmen next year, or are these guys currently in high school somewhere else?
  18. Well, regardless of all this talk about the motives for giving out invitations, it's still a great honor for CovCath to get invited to participate in the Herbie. This thing is the most prestigious prep football event in the country, and to get invited is a huge deal. I will admit that I rarely support CovCath in any capacity when it comes to football (big surprise, eh fellas?), but I am happy for them that they did get the invite!
  19. UK = NIT Way to go BCG and UK for the great season.
  20. It's Madisonville-North Hopkins, and they are a Class 6A team. I noticed that they went 5-5 in 2007, and did not make the playoffs. On the face of it, it seems like an odd match-up for the two teams. I wonder if there is some coaching staff connection or something.
  21. With Mooney being Division IV, I am thinking that CCH is larger male student-wise? Given that CCH has played some of the Ohio DI schools very tough, I would like CCH's chances with a much more even playing field (regarding school size). Also, did CCH just have this week open all the time, or did they have to cancel a previously scheduled game to accommodate this? I didn't realize that CCH had an open game this late in the process.
  22. How did the HHS intersquad scrimmage look on Friday?
  23. I just want to say that I can't stand UNC, Duke, Wake Forest or NC State basketball. ...And don't even get me started on Gardner-Webb!
