Well, I've upgraded my prognosis of this team. Earlier I felt they wouldn't make the NCAA tourney. Now I think they'll make the tournament and win one game before getting bounced in the round of 32. Nothing to be ashamed about for UK to be one of the top 32 teams this year.

Kentucky Players Most Likely To Declare For The NBA Draft

Only Johnson and Poythress return. The others either declare or transfer. -
Where did Beatty come from? Would he be considered Trinity's greatest football coach?

Does it appear that Beatty will remain at T this year?

So, are there a total of 7 Highlands kids who committed to play football?

Does HHS have a senior-laden team this year, or is it mainly underclassmen? Go 'Birds! -
I think we all agree that UK football is on the uptick....

It will be asking a lot for UK to be able to consistently register 6 or 7 wins a year, unless the SEC drops off a bit and the competition becomes less difficult, which is doubtful. -
Congrats to Bardo and all the other Highlands seniors who have committed to play college ball! Question: did Braden Hicks commit to play football? I thought I saw where he did.

Is it a for sure thing that UC will not play HHH this year?

If Chuck Smith applies to Highlands.......

Collins has a 1-1 split with HHS, but Coach Weinrich has a perfect record as a head coach against Collins in state title games, just sayin! -
No HHS player made any of the three teams, so that's 66 spots, not 22.
-
The point I was trying to make in my previous post is that HHS seemed to accomplish a lot despite having no top-level talent, at least according to the CJ. That speaks very well of the HHS coaching staff, in my opinion, going 13-2 and finishing runner up.

No Highlands players listed on the first three teams. Highlands played Elder within three points at the Pit, and was leading Collins (who has two players on the first team, I might add) with less than 10 seconds left in the title game. Perhaps Highlands actually over-achieved this year, contrary to what many have written on BGP.

Is the Highlands coaching search a sham?

If Saban became the head coach at Highlands, I'd start cheering for CovCath. My vote (not that I have one) is for Coach Weinrich. -

CHUD 2 was better than CHUD. -
I'm not so sure they are underachieving. Maybe this is typically what happens when you play with a bunch of true frosh and a couple of sophomores, and then match them up against first-rate competition, like MSU, Baylor and UNC.

NIT bound. Mark it down.

Does anyone know if the HHS players knew about Mueller's decision to step down before Monday? I didn't know whether this was something that was already known internally within the program. What a coaching career Dale Mueller has had! I only wish that he had been able to finish his career with a win, but as the saying goes, you can't win them all.
-
Best wishes to Coach Mueller! It's amazing what this man has accomplished over the past 20 years. He's the best. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to return to my bedroom, crawl into the fetal position, suck my thumb and cry like a baby!

Are Highlands fans bored with their success?
jbwill2 replied to PurplePride92's topic in KY Football (High School)
I'd like to add a final thought to this thread, now that the title game is over. I live in Raleigh, NC and have been able to attend only 3 Highlands games in the past 9 years. I was indisposed on account of work today and was not able to follow the HHS-Collins game via the internet or even check occasional game updates on BGP. I felt sick to my stomach from about 2pm until I was able to check the computer at 7pm, wondering how my team was doing and whether they were going to capture the state title. When I was finally able to get on the computer and pull up BGP to see the final score, seeing the title of Collins 37 Highlands 34 on BGP literally took my breath away... it still has not sunk in that they have lost. And this is coming from someone who has never played football for HHS, has no family or personal connections to anyone associated with the current team, and who lives over in NC. So, to answer the question: no, Highlands fans are not bored with the team's success.
