Arrez Henderson
Note almost all of the spots where I talk about him playing D1, I mention with "good", "solid", etc in front of them. He can probably be somewhere on the D1 level at a smaller school. I have said repeatedly he isnt going to start and he has a long way to go on his offense. If he is willing to work and have coaches that will work him extensively on his handle, shot, and first step then he could play there one day. Basically, what I am getting at is he has not lived up to the hype you guys have given him all year on here.

Holmes 57 LexCath 50
Great job by Holmes to not get down on themselves when they got down in the first quarter. Have to give it to them for coming back and winning this one. Not many teams have been able to withstand the quick starts that LC has had this year. They didnt panic and came back and won the game. What was the score at the end of the first? Seems like LC scored almost as many in the first as they did the rest of the game.

State Championship: Holmes/Mason County Predictions
MC has struggled so far through the tournament and they have not seen a D like Holmes will bring. As long as the sophomores for Holmes keep up their play in this game I look for Holmes to pull this one out in a pretty tight game.

State Championship: Holmes/Mason County Predictions
Setty should be able to play. I think they called it an "indirect technical" over the PA. Don't really know what that is, but sounds like something that would keep him in the game.

Arrez Henderson
He can be an offensive player, but not the type that would be a solid D1 guard. He isnt a good shooter and he doesnt get by people off the bounce. Most good D1 guards can do one of the two. Because of Holmes size he gets a smaller defender on him game in and game out and he can take them down low with his leaping ability, strength, and length and score on them. He is a good high school player, but I dont see the D1 in him. Proffitt created a lot off the dribble. He wasnt super quick, but he was deceptive and had a great handle. He could get in the lane and get other people shots and had that nice pull up J. He could also knock the trey with consistency. Sanford is an all around great player. He is a very good defender, quick, and gets his hands all over the ball. I said in the game thread he probably got his hands on the ball about 20 times through steals, deflections, etc. in the UHA game. That is no exaggeration. He is quick with the ball, can get in the lane and finish and is also a pretty good shooter and this kid is only a junior. I have seen A LOT of ball at all levels, and I dont think Henderson has really shown any reason that would say he will be a very good D1 guard. He can go to that low level of D1, but he will never be more than a defensive guy off the bench.

Mason County 60 Shelby County 50
They called it an "Indirect Technical" or something like that. Never heard of it before. I guess that means he can still play. Shelby gave Mason more trouble than I expected. The Rockets definitely played a pretty solid game for them. Mason hasn't looked like a state championship caliber team to me. Miller played a little harder today with Coach G in attendance, and made some timely plays. He does a good job of getting others involved and letting them play off of him. When he gets the ball in his hands he can make things happen. I really like his game and look forward to seeing him play on that floor next year.

I also havent seen him go to the basket with much effectiveness either. His points in the paint have been off rebounds and post ups. No doubt he is a top notch high school defender, but in this tournament I have been more impressed with the sophomore class than Henderson. You gave all of LC's front line about an inch a piece. They are that height when Henderson gets boards against them right? Plus, Smart does nothing in the paint and Stewart and Novosel were in a lot of foul trouble.

I think there is a chance he could play on the low D1 level, but I dont think he has the skill set right now to start at that level. I'm sure he could develop it, but I havent seen him look like a good D1 guard in two state tournaments. He is a lock down type defender, but I almost wonder how his help D is because he is not ever having to help off his guy because they need to be checked the whole time. He hasnt been that solid with the ball this tournament either. Maybe he is just having some problems in the tournament, but I havent seen great hands or a great handle. Just average. He has shown he doesnt want to shoot the 3 ball, or cant. I wonder about that. He is a very good high school player, but I am not seeing a D1 college player. He has some developing to do for that to happen, and coaches dont really take chances on developing a 6'1 guard.

Article on Euton Transfer
I used to drive to Georgetown for work all the time. It's not that bad. Some people like the suburban feel of Scott Co. as opposed to the urban living of Lexington. As long as I stay around here I would have to guess that when I have kids I will move out to SC to raise them and have them go to school there as opposed to the city life in Lexington unless I need to stay in Lexington and live out around the Dunbar area.

Shelby Co. 53 Hazard 50
I thought it was the worst called game. He does dribble a lot, but he probably doesnt trust a lot of the other kids with the ball. I know I probably wouldnt either. He is the heart and soul of that team and probably does play a bit selfish, but he needs to. He is not only the playmaker, but the best scorer on the team. The kid, #4 is solid, but not on the level of Whitaker.

Shelby Co. 53 Hazard 50
Since we are talking about "what if's" I think you have to mention a Bell Co. team with Whitaker and Warren. What if? indeed...

Shelby Co. 53 Hazard 50
Whitaker is a sophomore.

Shelby Co. 53 Hazard 50
I agree, he was hounded, grabbed, pulled, and pushed all over the floor. He wasnt fouled because the refs didnt call it, but that doesnt mean about 10-20 fouls couldnt have been called on SC.

State Tournament Officials!
Thought this morning was reffed pretty well. There were questionable/missed calls, but there always are. It didnt seem to go one way or the other and was pretty consistent, so not much to complain about. Miller got a few star calls, but that is almost to be expected at this point. Anybody know who is doing the game tonight?

Holmes v Lexcath Predictions (State Semi #1)
Why did Holmes not press Paintsville today? I would have asked in that thread but you guys already got it closed by calling Pville kids "thugs" and "dirty." Both are laughable, but thats for another thread. If Holmes wants to press LC they can give them some problems and it will probably take Novosel out of the equation. Novosel was limited today, but he had a very nice player in Moorman guarding him. Sanford and Stewart are still the ones to watch in any game. Novosel isnt going to kill Holmes. If they can stay out on Smart and take him out of the game, pressure the ball, and take care of the ball against LC's press Holmes has a good chance in this one. This has the potential to be the game of the tournament and I hope it lives up to that.

East KY vs. West KY
East definitely won the battle in this years Sweet16. The East teams were fun to watch and had a pretty good level of success. The West teams played a few of the most unwatchable games of the tournament. Who would have thought we would have this disparity coming into this week?

Mason Co 73 Paducah Tilghman 46
Wow that was bad. I stopped paying attention about halfway through the second. Started talking to a bunch of people and left at the end of the 3rd. You can only watch PT hand Mason wide open shots for so long. West did not have a good showing this year, no doubt about that.

Lexington Catholic 54 Owensboro 47
Spoke a little too soon there. Holmes didnt look all that good today and if they play the way they did today they wont be playing Sat. night either. LC didnt play well, but got it done in the end. I dont think anyone else I know ever really doubted they would.

Shelby Co. 53 Hazard 50
The 3rd quarter definitely killed Hazard. I know at one point the 3rd quarter was 18-3 in Shelby's favor. I would have liked to have seen this game without Whitaker being held, grabbed, slapped, and pushed all over the court without a call. The kid just got beat up all day. Remember folks, he's only a sophomore. You would think they would have a back up plan for if Whitaker got hurt, in foul trouble, etc. to bring the ball up the floor. Where would Hazard be this year without him? Worst reffed game of the tournament. People around me from all over the state were talking about how one sided the game seemed to be called, particularly the second half.

Billy Hicks COY 11th Region
I'm sure the boos were amplified by the recent news of Euton. Hicks can always be deserving of this award, but I would have liked to have seen Ligon get it after BS tried to get rid of him this past summer. Would have been a nice little in your face to the administration. For what its worth, a lot of people may not like Hicks, but this says a lot about him when his peers vote for him to win the thing.

Who is to say Mr. Basketball 2010 doesnt already reside in Scott Co.?

Mason County 66 Elliott County 62
Lots of rumors going around the arena the last two days about the Knipp boys leaving next year for "greener" pastures. Losing the big kid could really hurt their chances.
